100% Thawing My Billionaire's Heart: Beyond The Mask Of Deception / Chapter 81: Chapter 81: was she loosing her mind

บท 81: Chapter 81: was she loosing her mind

He stood up, his movements fluid and silent, and walked out of Lisa's room, leaving her to her slumber.

he entered his own room, shutting the door behind him. He crossed the spacious room, heading for the en-suite bathroom.

With a twist of his wrist, the shower roared to life. He stepped under the warm cascade, letting the water wash away the fatigue of his trip.

As he showered, his thoughts drifted back to Lisa. Her peaceful face, her captivating beauty... He couldn't shake the feeling that she'd burrowed deeper into his heart.

Lugard's expression turned introspective. What did he truly want from Lisa? To protection as he promised, companionship, or something more?

The water streamed down his face, masking his emotions.

After taking a shower, he dressed in comfortable, dark-colored attire, his movements efficient and precise.

He walked back to Lisa's room, the soft carpet muffling his footsteps. Entering her room, he approached the bed, gazing down at her serene face.

Lisa's peaceful expression captivated him. He stood there, watching her sleep, his presence calm and unobtrusive.

Moments passed, and Lugard's gaze never wavered. He seemed lost in thought, his eyes reflecting a deep introspection.

Lugard lay down beside her, his eyes fixated on her beautiful, seductive pink lips. He was drawn to them, helpless against the memory of their sweetness.

His gaze lingered, recalling the softness of her mouth, the tender touch of their kisses. Desire stirred within him, a slow-burning flame that threatened to consume him.

Lisa's lips parted slightly, her breathing shallow. Lugard's heart quickened, his body responding to her proximity.

He reached out, his fingertips tracing the curve of her lips. The gentle touch sent shivers down his spine.

Lisa's eyes fluttered open, locking onto Lugard's intense gaze. For a moment, they simply looked at each other, the air thick with tension.

Lisa's eyes widened in shock, her heart racing as she stared at Lugard's expressionless face. She wanted to scream in terror, unsure if it was truly him or his ghost.

"How...how did you get here?" she stammered.

Lugard's voice was calm, devoid of emotion. "I just came back."

Lisa's confusion turned to suspicion. "If it's really you, why didn't you stay for the full two weeks? You said you will spent on this business trips ."

Lugard's eyes sparkled with amusement, but his face remained impassive. He gently tapped her forehead. "Too foolish. I wrapped up my business quickly. Did you miss me?"

Lisa feigned indifference, her voice steady. "Who missed you? Not even a bit."

Lugard chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Look at this troublemaker," he thought, recalling the butler's words. Jenkins had told him Lisa was feeling down and restless due to his absence.

He leaned in, his breath whispering against her ear. "Don't lie, Lisa. Your eyes betray you."

Lisa's pulse quickened as Lugard's warm breath sent shivers down her spine. She tried to maintain her facade, but her racing heart betrayed her true emotions.

Lugard's fingers grazed her face, his touch sending shivers down her spine. He gently lifted her chin, guiding her gaze to meet his.

Lisa's eyes locked onto Lugard's handsome face, her heart fluttering wildly. Her cheeks flushed rapidly, and she tried to look away, but Lugard's grip held her face still.

For a moment, they simply looked at each other. Lisa noticed something in his sea-blue eyes, a depth she couldn't quite grasp. She felt trapped, unable to escape the intensity of his gaze.

Without warning, Lugard's lips claimed hers, his mouth moving with a gentle yet possessive urgency. Lisa's lips parted in surprise, and Lugard's tongue teased hers, sending sparks through her entire body.

Her hands instinctively rose to his chest, but instead of pushing him away, her fingers curled into his shirt, holding on. The world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them, lost in the fervor of their kiss.

Lisa's thoughts whirled, her senses overwhelmed by the sensation of Lugard's lips on hers. She felt like she was drowning, unable to breathe, yet she didn't want to surface.

As Lugard's lips moved against Lisa's, he felt his control slipping. The softness of her mouth, the sweetness of her taste, ignited a fire within him.

His hand slid behind her neck, deepening the kiss.

Lugard's thoughts blurred, his senses consumed by the sensation of her. He felt alive, electrified by the connection between them.

In this moment, nothing else mattered – not his business, not his reputation, not the world outside. Only Lisa, her lips, her touch, her presence.

As they broke apart for air, Lugard's gaze locked onto Lisa's. Her eyes sparkled, her cheeks flushed. He smiled, his heart pounding in his chest.

"troublemaker," he whispered, his voice husky with emotion.

Lugard's smile faltered as he struggled to regain control. His emotions had surged to the surface, and he wasn't prepared to confront them.

He took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving Lisa's. The vulnerability he saw there mirrored his own.

Lugard settled beside her, his eyes closing as he whispered, "Let's go to sleep."

Lisa remained frozen, her gaze fixed on his tranquil face. She stared at him, puzzled, as if haunted by a lost ghost.

How could this cold, calculating demon, who had left the estate for a week spending time with his lover or more, now lie beside her with such serenity?

His chest rose and fell with each steady breath, his features relaxed. Yet, Lisa's mind raced with turmoil.

She scrutinized his face, searching for answers. What secrets hid behind those closed eyes? What emotions lay hidden beneath his calm exterior?

Lisa's gaze drifted back to Lugard's face, her thoughts scattering. She couldn't shake off the feeling that their kiss had awakened something within her.

Her eyes traced the contours of his features, the sharp jawline, the gentle curve of his lips. She felt drawn to him, like a magnet to steel.

"Distracted?" Lugard's low voice broke the silence, his eyes still closed.

Lisa's cheeks flushed. How did he know? "Just thinking," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lugard's eyes opened, his gaze locking onto hers. "About?" he prompted, his voice soft.

Lisa's thoughts tumbled out: the kiss, his sudden return, her conflicting emotions...

she didn't speak up for a moment, Lugard close back his eyes.

Lugard's eyes remained closed, his chest rising and falling with steady breaths.thinking that he had already fallen asleep. Lisa's eyelids grew heavy, and she succumbed to sleep, her body relaxing beside him.

But Lugard wasn't asleep. He opened his eyes, his gaze softly focusing on Lisa's peaceful face. A gentle smile curved his lips.

He drew her closer, wrapping his arms around her. Lisa didn't stir, her sleep deepened by exhaustion.

Lugard buried his face in her hair, inhaling the fresh fragrance. His tense muscles relaxed, his mind calming.

For the first time in weeks, he felt at peace. The insomnia that had plagued him from his childhood and during his business trip, the sleepless nights, all faded away.

Lisa was his sleeping pill, the only one that worked.

As he held her, Lugard's eyelids finally grew heavy. His breathing slowed, and he drifted off to sleep, his arms cradling Lisa.

The darkness enveloped them, filled with the soft rhythm of their synchronized breathing.

....

next morning.

Lisa's eyes snapped open, but Lugard was nowhere to be found. She sat up, scanning the room, her heart racing.

Had it all been a dream? The kiss, the conversation, the peaceful sleep?

She threw off the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. Her feet touched the cold floor, grounding her.

But the memory of Lugard's warmth lingered.

Lisa stood, pacing around the room. Signs of his presence were nonexistent. No clothes, no watch, no phone.

Was she losing her mind?

Lisa's thoughts were interrupted by a gentle knock on the door. "Mr Lu, breakfast is served," Jenkins, the butler, announced.

She took a deep breath, shaking off the lingering confusion. "Thank you, Jenkins. I'll be right down."

Lisa quickly freshened up and made her way to the dining room.

As she entered, she was greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the warm smile of Jenkins. "Good morning, Miss Lisa."
