As we entered, the principal announced, "Class, these are our new students, Allison Argent and Jason Cole." I looked around the room and saw Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski. It was fascinating and scary to be in the same room as a real werewolf.
The director continued, "Please do your best to make them feel welcome," waving to us. Then Allison sat down in one of the empty seats, and I was forced to sit behind Scott. Not that I had anything against him, but I knew the risks of being so close to a werewolf.
I greeted Stiles by extending my hand and said, "Hi, my name is Jason Cole, but I think you already know that." I tried to have some dialogue to break the ice. Then I turned to Stiles and asked, "What about you, what's your name?"
Stiles replied with a mischievous grin, "Stiles Stilinski, but you can call me Stiles. And that's my friend Scott McCall," pointing to Scott, who was looking at Allison.
"Hey, who are you calling an idiot?" Scott replies when he finally realizes what Stiles had said. "And nice to meet you, Jason."
"Aren't you forgetting something, Jason?" Allison speaks after giving me a weak punch on the arm.
"Of course not, guys. This here is Allison Argent. Don't let her appearance fool you. She is a very violent woman, as you can see," I speak jokingly to annoy Allison a little.
Allison laughed and jokingly pushed me. "Don't believe him. He's making up stories about me." She turned to Stiles and Scott and said, "My name is Allison, and I'm new. Can one of you show me where the cafeteria is? I could use a cup of coffee."
"Oh, sure. I can show you." Scott offered readily. "I'm going to need a cup of coffee too." He turned to me and said, "And you, Jason, would you like a cup of coffee too?"
I always thought Scott's relationship with Allison was kind of weird. They barely know each other, and they are already falling in love. On Scott's part, it almost becomes an obsession, to the point where his world revolves around Allison. Because honestly, it makes no sense for a werewolf to have a relationship with a member of a hunting family. But who am I to judge?
"No, thanks. I like my chamomile tea in the morning," I shrugged.
"Chamomile tea? You're so peaceful, Jason," Scott commented, still looking at Allison.
"Don't be so hard on him, Scott. Chamomile tea is relaxing, maybe he knows something we don't," Stiles scoffed.
"Yeah, that's right. Maybe I found the key to happiness in my chamomile tea!" I laughed.
Allison smiled and said, "Well, I don't know about that. I prefer a good strong cup of coffee to keep me awake during boring classes."
"And so do I, especially when we're learning about world history," Stiles agreed.
"I've never been good at world history," Scott admitted.
"But you are good at other things, right?" I asked him, trying to be friendly.
"Yeah, I'm a pretty good lacrosse player," Scott smiled.
"That's the spirit! Keep fooling yourself, maybe one day it will come true," Stiles spoke sarcastically.
"I told you this year I'm going to be on the team instead of just sitting on the bench," Scott said.
After that, class continued as usual. Currently, Allison and I are in our lockers, which, not surprisingly, are next to each other.
"What class do you have now?" I asked Allison as I looked at my schedule.
"Now I have math and you?" she asked after looking at her schedule.
"I have chemistry class. You know what? Give me your schedule. After comparing schedules, I found out that we won't have any more classes together.
"I guess we won't be taking any more classes together, so I'll see you at the break," I said as I handed back her schedule.
"All right, then, I'll see you at the break," she replied.
After that, I took a few more classes without much going on, until I took an economics class with the teacher or coach Bobby Finstock. I honestly don't know what I should call him.
As if it wasn't enough that I was bad at economics, I had to listen to the coach trying to convince me to try out for the lacrosse team.
"Come on, Cole. The principal said you'd be a great addition to the team, and I've seen some videos of your games. You are a lightning bolt on the field. All I'm asking you to do is to give it a chance.
"All right, Coach, I'll try out for the team after class." After that, the class was as normal as possible, with Coach Finstock as the teacher. I really hate economics. I am sitting next to Allison, and after telling her what happened in class, of course I left some things out. She asks, "So, are you going to practice today?"
I sigh and say, "Yes, Coach asked me to go."
She looks at me and says, "And why don't you seem very excited?"
I just shake my head and reply, "I'm excited, it's just that since I've never played lacrosse or any similar sport, I'm just thinking about how I should play."
"Don't worry, I'm sure everything will be fine and besides, I'll be there cheering you on," she said as she patted my back a few times.
After that, she spent the entire lunch talking about why we moved to Beacon Hills.
"So, let me get this straight: your dad has an arsenal of guns because he sells guns to the police department, and you're trying to convince me that it's not scary," I said jokingly.
"Very funny, but speaking of which, you still haven't told me about your family," she replied.
I simply think and reply, "There's not much to tell. My father is a policeman and my mother is a nurse. Nothing as impressive as having an arsenal of guns in the house. We moved to Beacon Hills because he thought it would be a great place to live."
She looks at me and says, "You have a cop dad and yet you still find my dad creepy."
"From the way you talked about your father, I got the impression that he would shoot first and ask questions later," I replied.
After a little conversation, we had to go to class.
Finally, after what seemed like the longest hours of my life, class ended. Allison and I were standing together, and she asked, "So, have you figured out how you're going to play in practice yet?"
I sighed and said, "Yeah, Coach asked me to go, and I also decided that I'm not going to die if I try something new. Honestly, I think it's going to be a lot of fun."
We reached our lockers. She looked at me and said, "And so you speak."
I looked at her and said, "No, I'm still scared to death. You're going to have to come save me if something goes wrong." I said jokingly, pretending I was scared.
"Can't you be serious for once?" She spoke to me.
"Sure I can, but what would be the fun in that? And don't pretend you don't think it's funny. I can see the smile on your face." Before she could answer, a girl approached us. She had red hair and a small body. She said to Allison, "This jacket is absolutely killer. Where did you get it?"
"My mother was a buyer for a boutique in San Francisco," Allison replied.
"And you're my new best friend." Just then, Jackson, Lydia's boyfriend, joined them as well. Lydia greeted him warmly as he put his arm around her waist, I could tell Allison was uncomfortable.
Even though she was talking to Allison, she kept looking at me, but it wasn't a flirtatious look. It looked more like she was analyzing me. This really made me a little nervous, and I don't even know why.
Lydia said, "Jackson, this is Allison and this is Jason." Honestly, I'm not even surprised that she knows my name. After all, Lydia is the queen of the school.
Lydia: "So, there's a party this weekend."
"A party?" Allison looked at me in doubt. I simply shrugged.
Jackson: "Yeah, Friday night. You guys should come."
I noticed that Allison looked a little shy as she replied, "Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking."
"I'll see if I can, since I just moved, I still have a lot of things to tidy up in my house," I spoke the truth. Maybe I'll go to the party if I don't have anything to do.
Lydia and Jackson seemed disappointed by these answers.
Jackson: "Are you sure? Everyone is going after the scrimmage."
Allison: "You mean football?"
Jackson chuckles as if she is joking. "Football is a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse. We've won the state championship for the last three years."
Lydia looks at Jackson with a loving expression as she fiddles with her hair. "Because of a certain team captain..." Jackson smiles smugly at the compliment.
"Really? So you're the one Coach has been talking about, that soccer star just trying not to get hit, but in your case, maybe that's hard." I could spot his sarcasm from miles away.
I had to hold myself back a lot to not punch this idiot in the face.
"It shouldn't be that hard, after all, if you're the captain." I said this with a smug smile.
He stepped forward and asked:
"What did you say?" I looked at him and stepped forward, narrowing the distance between us, as much as I would love to beat the crap out of him, but better to avoid an unnecessary fight. My parents would kill me if I got into a fight on the first day of school.
"Hey, why instead of fighting like two kids, don't we settle this on the field, 'Captain'?"
Jackson: "You're going to regret this."
"Good luck, Jackson. You're going to need it."
Before we could continue, Allison patted my elbow, looked at me, and said, "Come on, it's almost time for the tests."
Lydia smiled and nodded. "Yes!"
I took a deep breath and nodded. We were walking toward the locker room.
I'm sure Jackson is going to make this practice a living hell. I really shouldn't have been so reckless, but there's no point in being all sorry now. I just need to beat him at lacrosse, which is something he is obsessed with. I'm screwed.
