"Unwanted pregnancies, abortion, divorces and alimony, those sort of things.

"And thus, with all those news of other women here in Atlanta getting pregnant, I have no choice but to ride the wave and follow them, even if it's all a lie.

"I just MacGyvered things and used some soda and a cheap pregnancy test to do it."

Leigh then asks Elsie as the latter ends her narration, "You have no underlying issues that force you to fake it, right?"

"Well, I have no underlying issues like an unhappy childhood or a traumatic incident. I'm just that insecure, that's all."
