บท 25: Super Gene Immortal Chapter 25

When Lux returned to the Alliance with his suitcase mech in tow he didn't really know what to think about it. The thing was called Silver Killer, and whatever company had designed and made the thing was operating on some seriously Tony Stark or Hank Pym level sciences. He brought the thing to an isolated testing room that was large enough to deploy it from its suitcase form and marveled at the thing.

The Silver Killer was the epitome of futuristic warfare technology, an advanced bipedal mech that somehow fused nanotechnology and biological systems, capable of deploying from what appeared to be an ordinary suitcase. Once it was deployed Lux stared at it in awe. Standing at a formidable 12 feet tall, this prototype war machine embodied both elegance and raw power. Its design was a cutting-edge marvel, blending sleek nanomaterials with organic musculature, giving it a streamlined, fluid appearance while maintaining an imposing presence.

Lux almost couldn't get over how the Silver Killer warframe existed in a compact, folded form, no larger than a briefcase before he activated its display mode. The unassuming briefcase state was possible due to its nanotech-based structural composition, which allowed the mech to break down and reassemble at a molecular level which was crazy. Upon activation, the nanites would rapidly expand, shifting from their condensed form and constructing the Silver Killer within seconds. The transformation was a sight to behold, seemingly lifeless metal quickly reforming and growing into a towering war machine, its components clicking and fusing together in perfect synchronization, as if it was coming alive from within. And it was supposed to deploy like that around the person who was the pilot.

Once fully deployed, the Silver Killer was a sleek, humanoid design that vaguely reminded Lux of the Sentinels from the X-men series fused with the liquid metal terminators. Its body was coated in a smooth, reflective silver nanomaterial that had an almost liquid-like sheen. This flexible, adaptive armor acted both as protection and a sensor array, constantly shifting to optimize its defense against various threats. The nanites in its structure could reconfigure in real-time to repair damage, reinforcing compromised areas or adapting to environmental factors. This gave the mech an eerie, ever-shifting surface texture, as if it were alive, constantly rippling in response to Lux's poking and prodding around it. The head of the Silver Killer was minimalist, with a sleek, visor-like faceplate that housed an array of advanced sensors. A single, dark slit served as its eyes, glowing faintly as it scanned its surroundings. Equipped with full-spectrum vision, from infrared to ultraviolet, as well as motion tracking and environmental analysis, the mech could adapt to any battlefield condition with ease. Its limbs were long and powerful, with hands designed for both dexterity and raw strength. Although no weapon systems had been integrated into the prototype just yet, the Silver Killer had modular attachment points on its arms and back, allowing for future customization. Each arm ended in five slender fingers, each capable of finely manipulating objects or delivering crushing blows.

Though still unarmed in this prototype stage, the Silver Killer had all the hallmarks of an ultimate battlefield predator: silent, adaptable, and capable of deploying from its suitcase form without warning. Its true potential lay in the future, when its systems would be fully realized and weaponized, transforming it into a lethal force, but even in its current state, it was an awe-inspiring creation. Half machine, half living being, and entirely revolutionary. And Lux couldn't wait to try it out.

After observing the Silver killer in its display mode he deactivated it and watched as it returned to its suitcase form. Then He approached it and activated its full deployment mode. The mechanisms flowed around him like mercury, fully engulfing his body and for a brief moment Lux wondered how bad things could go if it made some kind of mistake in its deployment procedures.

For a Warframe/mech, the Silver Killer was quite small. And it didn't at all have the same control scheme as other mechs. For one, Lux was used to a lot more breathing room in the cockpits of the warframes. The next thing was that the Silver Killer was technically an ultra-light class of Warframe and Lux had only ever operated normal or heavy warframes. But he adapted quickly and started moving around the practice range.

The biological systems intertwined within its frame gave the Silver Killer an almost organic movement that Lux almost fell in love with right away. Beneath its metallic surface, bio-engineered muscle fibers connected to the nanotech skeleton, allowing for incredibly fast, precise movements. These muscle strands were derived from a synthetic material that could contract and expand with the efficiency of biological tissue, but far stronger and more durable. This design allowed the mech to move with a grace and agility that defied its size, capable of running, jumping, and maneuvering with the fluidity of a living creature while still being stronger and faster than any warframe that Lux had ever had the pleasure of using.

The Silver Killer was so fun to pilot in fact, that Lux was mentally trying to find excuses that would have him using it more. He really didn't have much of any reason to actually use it. He could enter competitions with it though… He would need to look into that. He also needed to see if Beifeng had any of the lab data on the creation process to create something like this. The Silver Killer was something that he almost would have dismissed as beyond modern capabilities. But apparently, he had been dead wrong about the level of tech that was actually going on in the Alliance.

After playing around in the Silver Killer for several hours Lux started thinking of how to adapt a few weapons systems to it. It honestly wouldn't be all that hard. The connectors for mounting weapons systems to it were already present. He could only imagine how it would feel to run around with a setup of laser and particle beam weapons mounted on the Silver Killer. Equip it with a Z-steel alloy spear and shield and he could run around like a mini gundam. Childhood dreams fulfilled.

Lux was going to have to look into warframe competitions or something like that. After checking out the laws and everything pertaining to warframes and civilian ownership he found that he was perfectly fine to own and operate the Silver Killer regardless of its high-tech prototype status. Technically it didn't matter even if it fell into the hands of the Shura because they were so much more advanced than the Alliance that none of the innovations of humanity were really important enough to sway the state of the war. The innovations that were important were quite literally never revealed to the public anyways, black ops and black tech were nothing but rumors. The fact that Silver Killer was not even considered something that could be full military grade was actually quite astounding. It made Lux wonder what the military actually had at its disposal if something this advanced was not considered worthy of even a Secret rating.

After playing around with his new toy for several hours, Lux reluctantly returned the Silver Killer back to its powered down suitcase state and returned to his dorm room to get more work done on his programming and game creation. Also, he would look into any competitions that may be going on where he could play with Silver Killer some more.

When he got to the dorm once more Lux found that he was in luck. The Starry Cup was being held soon. The event had many different competitions going on in it, from Archery and swordplay, to warframe and even starfighter competitions. Registering as an individual was not really possible. It was a competition between all of the military academies and was a huge event. With prizes that were insanely valuable. Actual warframes were the prizes for the warframe competitions, which was crazy seeing how valuable many of the prizes advertised were. If Lux wanted to participate in the competition, he would need to join one of the schools warframe societies, which would take away more of his free time…

On the one hand, Lux really didn't want to be tied down to a group at the school. He already needed to maintain a high score in the Archery skills department. Which was admittedly quite easy. But on the other hand, giant robot piloting…

With a groan Lux stood up and headed out of the dorms headed over to the official warframe society buildings to see if any of the departments would let him in. This would be an awfully late period to be entering the warframe societies at all, and most of them would probably not have openings for participants in the Starry Cup. He would need to see which specific society had the fewest members and join that one.

Lux was pleasantly surprised to run into Wang Mengmeng as he made his way over. And she immediately got extremely excited and convinced him to join the Heavy Warframe society. Heavy warframes were huge mechs that were usually designated as transportation or construction units in the military. They were not nearly as popular as the other models. Though they were insanely durable and powerful, they lacked the speed and elegance of their smaller cousins. The Heavy Warfame Society of the school literally only had 5 members. Wang Mengmeng, Wang Chun, Li Zhenzhen and two guys who only went by their nicknames of Fatty and Skinny. Fatty was the president of the Heavy Warframe society and Skinny was the only returning member from older year groups at the Academy.

The Heavy Warframe society was perfect for Lux. They had more than enough slots for the Starry Cup for all members to participate and Mengmeng was super happy about him spending time training with her during his time in Academy. And Lux was happy because of the massive training field that the Heavy Warframe Society had at its disposal. It was surprisingly large and furnished with simulations for all sorts of scenarios.

The reason that the training field was so kitted out was actually because of Wang Mengmeng. More specifically, who her parents were, and the freaking boatloads of cash that they pumped into Blackhawk for the express purpose of making their daughter have a better time at school. Sure, this was basically bribery and nepotism. But Lux was getting to benefit from it all the same so he didn't really care if this was a case of money making the world bend to the will of the wealthy. If he had a daughter and was super wealthy, he would have done the same as her parents. And anyway, it was a total benefit to the entirety of Blackhawk Academy student population regardless of whether it was aimed at one person's comfort and desires.

Mengmengs parents had even furnished the Heavy Warframe society with three Heavy Warframes of different classes. A Rhinoceros T1, a Porter RS and a Builder series. The Rhinoceros T1 was a quadruped heavy warframe that was almost exclusively used as an armored transport for rough terrain. Its design allowed it to be used in digging and drilling operations as well. But its main use was transportation of heavy ordinance.

The Porter RS was also a quadrupedal heavy warframe, which was pretty common among the heavy variety. It had a single heavy lifting arm that allowed it to lift and move things with surprising precision for such a large machine. With a secondary more precise arm to handle tools and such. It's main use, however, was as a logistics facilitator in warehouses, loading and unloading goods. Though there were many cases of the arm being modified to hold a massive laser cannon to defend fortified areas. But that was incredibly rare and not the norm. It was funny to Lux that literal mechs were designed to be almost exclusively warehouse workers.

The Builder was one of the rare Bipedal Heavy Warframes. And like its name, the Builder was usually a construction bot. Honestly, calling them warframes when they were pretty much designed for construction felt funny. It wasn't meant to be a weapon of war. The Builder was quite the complicated beast to pilot too, because it had four arms total, which meant that it was fairly easy to destabilize and tip over if the pilot was not careful.

On top of having three actual Warframes to pilot and train in, the Heavy Warframe Society was also furnished with state of the art holographic virtual training machines that would simulate the operation of almost any warframe, heavy or not, getting to run through realistic simulations of combat with some of the more advanced warframes was something that Lux really wanted to test out as Mengmeng showed him around the facilities.

Interestingly enough, the members of the Heavy Warframe Society didn't actually use the three warframes all that often, preferring instead to use the simulators. And when they did take one of the warframes out for a spin, it was almost always the Rhinoceros. Mainly because the level of skill required to operate the Porter and the Builder were much higher. The Builder specifically was one that they really didn't touch except for maintenance. That thing was extremely difficult to pilot correctly.

Honestly, after Lux tried out the simulators, he pretty much abandoned them in favor of actually piloting the real Mechs. There was a childlike glee that filled him every time he entered the cockpit of the massive Builder warframe that he just didn't get from the simulators. Not to mention that even with [Machine Learning] helping him out with piloting skills, it was still an actual challenge to pilot the Builder without unbalancing. It was also fun to see just how far he push its boundaries in motion.

Piloting the Builder one day, Lux grabbed four long alloy tubes that fit in the massive mechs hands like practice swords. He proceeded to swing them around like he was wielding four swords simultaneously. Pretend blocking imaginary enemies and swinging for counter attacks. The exhilaration of being a giant robot and swinging around giant pieces of metal like they were toys was intoxicating.

While Lux was messing around trying to make all of his motions as fluid as possible, his sensors indicated an actual incoming attack. He almost froze at that, but responded quickly raising one of the giant tubes to block the attack.

There was a massive cracking sound as two massive pieces of metal smashed into each other at high speeds. Lux was almost confused at first when saw the Porter RS wielding a massive 30+ foot long wrench. He didn't know who could be piloting the Porter, but he was pretty sure that this wasn't a real fight. The mental pause didn't last long, as the Porter started moving and brought up a massive circular saw chopping down at him like a battle axe cleaving for Lux's sensor array in the Builders head.

Lux spun up one of the massive tubes and struck against the side of the massive circular saw blade, knowing that the blade cut straight through these alloy tubes like butter. Whoever was piloting the Porter really knew how to use its tools as weapons. They switched between the giant wrench, drills, hooks and the saw blade almost seemlesly. Pressing Lux's defenses as he deftly maneuvered the Builder to smack down, dodge and weave away from any incoming damage.

Lux's blood was boiling as the fight went on. A grin of massive proportions plastered across his face as he engaged in a childhood dream. Ever since he had watched Evangelion, Gurren Lagann, and Gundam as a child he had wanted to use a giant robot to fight with another giant robot. The crashing of giant metallic monsters smashing against each other rang out over and over again as Lux and his opponent duked it out.

The fight lasted for nearly an hour and a half before Lux was no longer able to keep up his level of exertion. And he tapped out of the battle. Piloting a heavy warframe took a serious toll on the body, and Lux wasn't trying to run himself ragged against whoever this guy that he was battling was.

After signaling an end to the fight, Lux moved the Builder over to its bay. The Porter did the same, and Lux exited the Builder coated in sweat and feeling his adrenaline rush fading. The fight had been so awesome that he didn't know what could possibly top the experience. It was like nothing he had ever done before. He also wanted to meet whoever the pilot of the Porter was, because whoever it was, there was no way that it could be a student. Sure, Fatty and Skinny had been around for longer, but they had not reached Evolver status yet. The pilot had to at least be an evolver.

"Holy shit you're a student!?" The man who popped out of the Porter's cockpit exclaimed.

Lux smiled and gave a nod of his head, "Indeed. I am a freshman, only joined the Heavy Warframe society recently. Thank you for the battle, that was amazing!"

"Have you ever piloted heavy warframes before? Your skill had me convinced I was dueling with a veteran." The man spoke with a look of pure astonishment on his face, like his entire worldview had just been shattered.

"No sir. I think I've only been doing it for a few days now?" Lux shrugged, "I really enjoy using them for real instead of the simulators. Especially the Builder because it's complicated to drive."

"Which department are you in? How did you end up in the heavy warframe society?"

"I'm in the Archery department. And I recently came into ownership of a personal warframe and discovered how much I loved piloting them. So I joined the Heavy Warframe Society because they were the only society that still had slots for the Starry Cup." Lux explained, "It worked out because one of my friends is in the society as well."

The man looked astonished. Lux hadn't even gotten the guys name but his Commlink suddenly chirped. Mengmeng and Ji Yanran were waiting for him in the cafeteria and they were both blowing up his inbox.

"Sorry, but I have to run. I'd love it if we could duel it out like this again though. That was the most fun that I've had in ages." With that said, Lux shot off a couple of messages to the girls, indicating that he would be there shortly.

Reaching the cafeteria, Lux made his way over to the booth where both Mengmeng and Yanran were seated. He slid into the seat beside Yanran.

"Sorry I'm all sweaty. Was just having an epic fight between the Builder and Porter Warframes. Didn't really have time to stop for a shower." Lux said as he sat. But he had definitely made a bit of a mistake. With all of his exertion and all the sweat he was practically wafting a cloud of his pheromones all over the place right now. And both Ji Yanran and Wang Mengmeng were obviously hit by them.

Both girls had gone quite red in the face when he sat down. And both of them were starting to breath a little unevenly as they both tripped over each other's words as they tried to reassure Lux that him being sweaty was the least of their concerns.

Yanran cleared her throat and glared at Mengmeng before speaking, "So which competitions are you going to be taking part in in the Starry Cup?"

"All of Warframe competitions that don't have time conflicts." Lux shrugged, "The prizes for the Warframe competitions are the best ones."

"Awww… Why not the Hand of God competitions?" Ji Yanran pouted.

"It would be pretty boring for me. Hand of God is a good time waster, but I can't really take a tournament seriously."

"Oh come on! You could score so many points for the school though. It could even help with your position in class when we graduate."

"I'm not really concerned about that." Lux replied, "If I am not number one in my year group just based on my academics then I'll eat my heart out."

"Awfully full of yourself there aren't you?" Mengmeng said with a smirk, taking a sip of her juice.

Lux chuckled at that, "I'd also bet that I'll take home the most prizes in the Starry Cup."

"Oh? Are you going to be competing using one of the Heavy Warframes?" Yanran asked.

"Nope. I've got my own. Technically it's an ultralight. Lin Beifeng gave it to me after I gave him a Mutant beast soul Mount."

"And you think you'll be able to win with an Ultralight? Keep dreaming and I'll bet you don't take any prizes at all!" Yanran sniffed.

"Ok. Here's the bet then." Lux said with a smile, "If I take first in any of the competitions you and Mengmeng both have to go out on a date with me."

Mengmeng choked on her drink and sputtered as Yanran did nearly the same thing.

"Hell no! I'm not trying to be with an unfaithful guy that wants to have a bunch of women!" Yanran said with indignation.

"Hmmm… How about if I win at least five competitions in first place?" Lux amended, "Also I will never be unfaithful. Don't try and put that on me, I want to have multiple wives, there's a difference between that and being unfaithful. Every woman in my life would be agreed upon by everyone. You and Mengmeng would have a say in anyone else who might get added later. And of course you would be the first wife."

Both girls looked almost like they were about to burst from a multitude of different emotions. Lux had alluded to his plans to have a Harem the entire time he'd known both women. But this was the first time he was truly showing his interest in both of them. He wasn't sure how this was going to pan out.

Yanran started pushing Lux out of the booth.

"Give us a minute, me and Mengmeng need to talk." She said as she shoved him off his seat.

Lux obliged and walked out towards the vending machines… There hadn't been any outright rejection. So maybe there was hope? He really didn't expect it to be that easy. Maybe his whole problem in his previous life had just been that he'd not been so forward with his desires… He shook his head and got himself a juice from the vending machines and leaned against a wall out there until his commlink chirped with a message to come back to the table.

Lux returned to find both girls seated beside each other, and he took the seat across from them.
