Himiko was surprised seeing the person just casually sitting beside them. Looking as if the most normal thing in the world happened in front of them.
Out of reflex she attacked the person with the knife she brought with her. She thrust out to the persons face and felt like hitting something solid, she thought that she finished of the person, but no blood came out as it was supposed to. The knife was caught in between the persons index- and middle finger.
She was scared at the skill of the mysterious person. She just drank fresh blood! She was supposed to be faster and stronger than the random thug you would meet on the streets now, but this person just caught the knife like it was nothing, she couldn't even move it an inch! It felt like it was stuck there.
"Huh, just a normal kitchen knife? That it?"
Himiko started to panic. This person wasn't your average person. If it continued like this, she was sure that she is going to get killed, or worse! If that person choses to apprehended her and hand her over to the police, that would mean that they are going to contact her parents sooner or later.
They would find out that she went out at night, they would find out that she killed people at night, they would find out that she uses her quirk. This couldn't happen! She had to stop this no matter the cost!
"Hey! Calm down. I am not here to apprehend or judge you or anything! I just wanted to know why a fellow comrade is doing the murder in this way. I mean, the way you kill people would leave way too much evidence for the investigation. I mean are you deliberately trying to get arrested?"
Himiko was confused at the persons words, comrade? Murder? Who was this person?
"Ehm, can I ask what you are talking about? I am confused?"
"Huh, you can't be serious? I thought you were a fellow hooded vigilante! You know, one of us that walks around in the more suspicious districts of this city, catching or killing scum like this. Though to be fair, I am currently the only one left. The others got caught one after another. They are probably dead or in jail now.
Himiko tried to put head and tails about this person's story together. Apparently, she was from a strange vigilante organization that wore hoodies to fight against sum in the night. But something about their story was strange.
"If you are the only one left, why would you think I am a part of your organization?"
"Sigh, guess you really ain't one of us if you don't know how to join us. Sorry to bother you then, but you understand that I have to stop you in your tracks then."
That turned bad fast.
"Wait! Can't you at least listen to my reasoning before we go to some drastic lengths!"
Chara had to chuckle. She knew that the girl knew that she stood now chance against her, but to the point of letting her spout so much bullcrap? She honestly found it very amusing.
"I think I know now where my sadism comes from, it's obviously coming from you, Chara!"
"What do you expect, partner? Almost one half of us is one and the same thing! The third coming from our body and then an eight from 'our' soul. Can't blame me if you get a bit sadistic because of that."
"Humph."
Back to Himiko. She was currently sweating intensely at the silence of the other person. Would they decide to apprehend her or at least hear her out? She knew that she would stand absolutely no chance if they decided to fight her. So, she hoped that they wouldn't decide for that, especially now that she is feeling that her temporary boost from the blood sucking was calming down.
"I am waiting. Didn't you want to tell me your reason? Oh, a short little warning. 20 words or I cut you down."
"Hai! My Quirk requires me to drink blood, or I go crazy! That is why I murdered these people here!"
Chara was surprised. Exactly 20 words as promised. What's with people exactly hitting this point?
Himiko was tense, she didn't know if the person would accept her reasoning yet. The person in front of her probably saw killing someone as normal, just like she did recently. But that wouldn't mean that they would share the same perception of 'normal'. If their perspective of that was even just slightly different a fight would break out.
Himiko could hear a sigh coming from the person in front of her. They just turned around...
"Napstablook. Allowed."
...and slashed at the corpses she created tonight. All of it just turned into dust and got scattered away in the wind. Her precious blood was now all gone.
"Follow me quietly."
Alongside her hope of getting away with this tonight. Himiko sighed, already expecting to get turned in to the police for the night. She cursed, she cursed that she just had to have this unfortunate encounter tonight.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Chara internally laughed her gut out. She just had to, after all the girl believed each of her words!
Chara was currently parkouring on the walls of the city. She liked this part of the night. It felt like she could truly test out the limits of this body. Unfortunately, she almost forgot about the girl that was currently following her. The girl was panting heavily, struggling just to keep up with Chara. It was understandable. Akane trained like a madwoman after all. She didn't change much with her daily routine, well with that she meant that Akane increased the distance to 70 kilometers, increased the number of total repeats by three and wore 140-kilogram extra weight.
At this point it seemed like a lie that this body was once frail and sickly.
"You all right there? Need a helping hand?"
Chara reached out with a hand to the girl. Unsurprisingly for her, the girl slapped the offered hand away. Chara might not be able to be that empathic like Akane, but she knew that the girl is going through an inner turmoil.
Chara deducted that the girl was thinking that she would bring her to a police station to turn her in and that she was only following because she was much stronger than her.
Chara had to laugh. Assumptions, they could either lead you to an early grave or even help you out in an unexpected way. She hated when that happens, it was an unknown variable that could change thing dramatically down the line. Not directly, but sooner or later they could result in a massive unexpected change. A butterfly effect to say it simple. Messed up her fair share of RESETs.
Chara just shrugged. In this moment she didn't particular care of what the girl thought, nor did she care about the potential butterfly effect. After all stuff like this can only happen if you assume that the future you know is going to be absolute. She didn't know the future, so she didn't have to plan to be perfect. Simple as that.
Chara continued on the way, this time more slowly so the girl can follow her better. At the end she stopped at a playground, far away from their original location. Chara wanted to talk with the girl, she was curious about her.
"You too, Chara?"
"What, you were curious about her too, partner?"
"Yes, I have the gut feeling that that girl could have followed a path of regret if she continued like she is now."
"Well, I guess that woman was right with the fateful encounter tonight, don't you think so too, partner?"
Himiko was confused. She was led to a playground by that unknown person and she didn't know why. What would be so special about this ordinary playground. Maybe the person would force themself on her here? But that wouldn't make any sense, why change location for that?
Himiko shrugged, she didn't really care what the person would do to her, as long as they wouldn't hand her over to her parents. They could do everything they want to her, as long as they stayed ignorant about this whole situation. She didn't want to go to another of this 'quirk-therapy' sessions.
The unknown person sat down onto the swing, before pointing at the other free seat. Himiko thought that the person wanted to her to sit down there. So, she did just that, she placed herself on the other swing.
She wondered what would happen, but the mysterious person suddenly pulled their green hoodie down and unwrapped their rainbow scarf, revealing their face in full. Himiko was surprised that the other person was a cute girl. A cute girl just like herself. Himiko started to fully look at the features of the girl that was in front of her.
It was a girl, probably the same age as her. She had rather short brown hair that only reached her neck and her bangs were orderly cut, only covering up their forehead. Her eyes were red and it seemed like they shined a bit in the night. She had a sharp nose and rather thin lips, her cheeks also seemed like to blush, constantly.
Himiko herself had to blush at the sight of her. She really looked good.
"Like what you see?"
Himiko flailed around for a bit. Apparently, she stared a bit too long at the beautiful face of the other party. She started to blush intensely for another reason. For the amusement of Chara.
"Well, you might be confused why a brought you to this faraway playground. The reason is simple. I am interested in you."
Himiko wanted to say her preference in her partner-choice. Chara stopped her, she didn't need to hear this talk now.
"Of course, not in a romantic sense. I am interested in you as a person. Is that it? I don't really know. Just know that I want to get to know you better."
That person wanted to know her better? Himiko doubted the girl's words, but beggars can't be choosers. She decided to follow the girl's whims.
"You want to know me better?"
The girl nodded.
"Just out of nowhere like that. You want to know me better?
Another one.
"And you are letting me go after this."
Her answer was met with a confirmation.
"Promise?"
"I can make it a pinky promise if you want."
The girl held out her pinky. Himiko followed along and also gave hers. They intertwined in a promise that wouldn't be easily broken by anyone.
"What should I call you? It feels rude to constantly say you to you."
"Well, call me Chara. Don't ask me about my name. My parents have a weird taste."
Himiko chuckled.
"Well if that's so, you can call me Himiko then."
------------------------------------------------------------------
After a long and 'pleasant' conversation:
Himiko waved at Chara for a goodbye, before walking away from the park. Chara also put on a kind smile, waving back at her. As she finally left her sight Chara punched the playgrounds wall, leaving a big and visible dent in it. She was angry.
"Chara, calm down."
"How am I supposed to calm down with the stuff I just heard?"
Akane sighed. Indeed, this wasn't something pleasant to listen to. Child neglect, no child abuse. This was definitely something unpleasant for both of them.
"Just being dubbed to have a villainous quirk, just because she needs blood."
"And then having to suppress it all her life, having to act 'normal', so she doesn't get shunned by her parents."
"Trying her best every day to just get the affection of her parents that hate her."
"I was like that once too, wasn't I Chara?"
"Humanity truly is rotten from the inside."
Akane was worried about Charas mental state again. Akane had to look wryly how Chara tried derailing herself again.
"Chara, do you truly think humanity is rotten?"
"OF COURSE, IT..."
"Yuiko, Kanna, Akita, Touko..."
Chara was silent.
"...Majeta, Kameko, Hoshi, Emilia..."
Chara started to smile.
"Kuzue, Mienai, Nageki, mister Salieri..."
She knew that her words were wrong.
"...mommy Fumio, mommy Rumi, aunty Etsuko, aunty Akasuki..."
She knew that not everyone was absolutely rotten, that everyone once had good in them.
"...All Might, Midnight, Jet, Eraser Head..."
"Calm down Akane, I understand. I exaggerated again. Chuckle. Fine, I forgive humanity once again tonight."
"You do you, Chara. I am tired, I am going to sleep now. I better find myself in my bed again today morning six on the clock. Else I won't let you take control tonight!"
Chara chuckled. Akane was something else.
