บท 83: Chapter 83: The Battle Begins

At this moment, Bai Yanbing, having been thoroughly misled by Qiao Lao, had no choice but to hang up the video call after a few last threats. Facing the life-or-death situation of the Bai family, he knew he had to deal with the immediate crisis first. After all, the Storm Fleet supposedly only had one T4 warship and fewer than a hundred T3 warships—how could they stand a chance against the Bai family's formidable forces?

What Bai Yanbing didn't know was that two T5 fleets were already stationed at the edge of the Windmill Star System, and the star gate had been completely taken over by the military. The Windmill Star System was now under strict lockdown, only allowing entry, with no way out. It was about to become a massive, deadly battlefield.

Bai Yanbing sat in his captain's chair, seething with hatred for the incoming Storm Fleet. If only Feng Mo had been willing to endure a little when his second son tried to pressure the Storm Star System, things would not have escalated to this point. But if Feng Mo could read Bai Yanbing's thoughts, he would have summed it up in one word: "typical."

However, Bai Yanbing didn't see it that way. He was a seasoned marquis of the Snowhawk Empire. When he first learned about Feng Mo, the young noble was only a viscount, two ranks beneath him. And with the Bai family's T4 fleet, how dare Feng Mo fight back instead of submitting? It defied all logic, in Bai Yanbing's view.

Now that things had come to this, Bai Yanbing was determined to crush his opponent. With over a thousand warships against fewer than a hundred, the Bai family surely had the upper hand. As a veteran fleet commander, Bai Yanbing knew better than to underestimate his opponent, especially given the two missile warships in Feng Mo's fleet.

"Order all ships to spread out and form a spearhead formation. T4 warships in the front as the sharp tip, the T3 warships forming the shaft to stabilize the formation, and the T2 warships trailing as the fletching," Bai Yanbing commanded.

When the Storm Fleet arrived at the perimeter of the Bai family's homeworld, Feng Mo was impressed by the spearhead formation. This was the mark of an experienced fleet commander—something Bai Muchen could never have pulled off. With T4 warships leading the charge, a carrier fleet would be vulnerable to a devastating breakthrough.

But Feng Mo had the Hurricane, a quasi-T5 battleship. He didn't need to match formations; he could break through with sheer power.

"Hua Qin, order the fleet to halt. Have the T4 Scorpions cloak and sneak around to the enemy's rear, ready to strike their flagship. The Hurricane will engage them head-on. Load the missile launchers on the two T3 Boxers and prepare for firing," Feng Mo instructed.

The plan was clear: the T4 Scorpions would execute a decapitation strike while the Hurricane disrupted the enemy formation, creating an opportunity for the Boxers to unleash a missile barrage.

Seeing the Storm Fleet halt at the edge of their radar range, Bai Yanbing was puzzled. The enemy was in a position where even T4 warship firepower would be ineffective and easy to dodge—an ambiguous standoff. What game was Feng Mo playing?

His confusion turned to shock when he saw the Hurricane. It was a battleship twice the size of a standard interstellar warship, and it dawned on him: a quasi-T5 battleship.

Bai Yanbing's jaw tightened, and he cursed under his breath, "A quasi-T5 warship? Damn you, Chu family. You've gone to great lengths to aid Feng Mo. I wonder if you'll mourn the loss of this ship when it falls in battle."

He still believed the Hurricane was a gift from the Chu family, never suspecting that Feng Mo had built it himself.

"All T3 warships, ready main and secondary cannons! Engage the auto-aim system and prepare a barrage. T4 warships, hold your fire until ordered!" Bai Yanbing commanded.

Nearly three hundred T3 warships lit up, their cannons charging and casting brilliant light across the dark expanse of space.

"Fire!" Bai Yanbing ordered.

A thousand beams of energy roared forth, forming a deadly web calculated to intercept every possible evasive maneuver by the Hurricane. But Feng Mo had anticipated this move. The Hurricane's top speed of 390 knots was its key advantage.

As the laser web closed in, the Hurricane weaved through it in a Z-shaped trajectory, evading most of the beams.

"Report! All T3 laser cannon fire missed! The target's speed is 390 knots—matching T5 warship capabilities!" Bai Yanbing's adjutant reported, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Bai Yanbing was stunned. A quasi-T5 warship moving at T5 speed? It defied common sense. Yet, here it was.

Bai Yanbing clenched his teeth, his veteran instincts kicking in. "Recalibrate the auto-aim system. Treat the target as a T5 warship and adjust for its speed."

"Yes, sir! Auto-aim recalibrated. Target locked, trajectories plotted. Awaiting orders!"

"All T4 warships, fire main and secondary cannons!" Bai Yanbing commanded.

A new barrage erupted, this time from the Bai family's T4 warships. The Hurricane initially managed to dodge most of the fire, but the recalibrated attack eventually found its mark. The ship's upgraded energy shields, however, absorbed the hits.

"Warning! Shield energy at 83%… 80%… 75%… 70%..." Hua Qin reported.

Feng Mo remained calm. The Hurricane's modified shields had T5-grade features: high defense and rapid recovery. During testing, they had proven capable of withstanding two full barrages from T4 Scorpions. The Bai family's attacks were nowhere near that level of intensity, so the shields could hold.

"Activate auto-aim. Charge the antimatter energy cannons and the turbo laser turrets," Feng Mo ordered.

The Hurricane's three main cannons and eight secondary turrets began to glow.

"Target enemy T4 warships. Fire!"

Eleven beams of destructive energy shot out, striking four of the Bai family's T4 Lynx-class destroyers. In an instant, four explosions lit up the void, as the targeted ships were blown to pieces.

The radar's holographic display showed the devastation: three of the main cannon blasts shattered the shields of three Lynx destroyers. The secondary cannon fire then tore through their energy cores, causing catastrophic explosions. The remaining five beams of energy shattered the shield of the fourth destroyer, igniting a chain reaction that obliterated the ship.

The Hurricane had made its opening move, and the battle had only just begun.
