บท 10: Home: Great Lantern

Zeza Loat was the one who got the opportunity. She reactivated his Century Red Authority Badge and tried to strike a deal with him to come back to Marble Angle.

Zamright refused but she then tried to facilitate his travel to Great Lantern and also upgraded his SUV all for only 2 Century Blood Coins.

If she knew that Zamright gave Sisi 153 coins in one go she would have gone insane. But the good news was that he was now on his way to his homeland.

"This is the nature of this land." Van Neem lamented the dissatisfaction of his master over the fast 2 weeks.

It was a flight of 45 days in a supersonic plane. Black Coast and Great Lantern are almost on opposite sides of the continent. The travel wasn't direct, there was a lot of stop and refiling, taking new people and moving ahead.

Despite the speed, it was slow. Zamright felt his time had been wasted because he had no Suitcase to store more of the coins as such he couldn't continue making them.

However, his foul mood brightened and was replaced with Longing when he arrived at the airport.

The intense scrutiny didn't bother him much because the scent of home brought him deja vu. He also felt indescribable sadness.

Everything has changed but as he looked at the sky it's the same. There was one plant that was native to the Great Lantern, which they planted all around.

The Moringa Plant is a herbal plant that can be fed directly and also turned into medicine. Zamright caressed one with a sigh.

"Master Zamright. The guards are watching you. These plants are a national treasure!" Van warned.

Zamright nodded before he followed him. They reached their motel and dropped their bags which were mostly Van stuff. They then joined the Tourist group assigned to them.

Zamright did feel nostalgia due to him being in his homeland but everything has changed. The buildings, the people, and even the cities.

Back then Transparent Lantern had 21 large states, each one had a big city that specialized in one thing. Ranging from Agriculture, Art, Music, Education, Military and other things.

The capital of the kingdom was called Land Of Royalty. They specialized in political and diplomatic relations. They were also smooth talkers and great in business.

That was why most children born in the city only study for 10 years before they move to Magnificent Ink City where Education reigns supreme.

But now in Great Lantern, the concept of state has eroded only the big city and even that they only numbered 17 in number with many small cities and towns.

However, the city he was now was named Welcome. There were some historical sites here which weren't from his era. However, they were good enough for others.

After the extended tour, they came back to their motel. They will be going out tomorrow but for now, they can move around in the tourist town.

The next day, Van paid a lot of money and they boarded a vehicle to the Maple Leaf. A city closest to Great Throne City—the ruling place. In the past, it was called the Land Of Royalty.

Just to come to Maple Leaf, Van paid two million CC. Truly tourism was one of the things that brought Great Lantern money.

Not only were they the oldest kingdom, but they also had strict policies which made people interested in knowing more.

It took hours to reach Maple Leaf City and immediately Zamright confirmed his assumption about tourists bringing money.

The Maple Leaf city was the same as he knew it. Only with some minor differences. Zamright watched the carefully maintained houses, roads and even a body of water at the centre of the city.

"It was one of the oldest cities that hasn't been altered in Great Lantern." Van read the pamphlet that contained its history.

"They did a very good job," Zamright acknowledged. He roamed about remembering some places that he had come with his family.

"Hey, you are from the Lan family, right? Can I take your picture!" A young woman of eighteen came asking.

Seeing she has bodyguards and her affluent attire she must be from a high family. But Van stopped her and politely said his master was busy.

'Lan Family were the rulers of Great Lantern, according to this pamphlet. ' Van was amazed. And as he looked around he noticed there was a lot of gaze on Zamright.

Of course, Zamright's look attracted attention but he learned that his Master was able to control how people perceived him but this look was like they were seeing similarities.

"We have seen it. Our Saint has seen it. Our Messiah is on his way to appear. The world will be saved from darkness. There will be no more war and poverty!"

This attracted both Van and his master. "They are called the Peace Dreamers. They believed that a Messiah would come and save everyone. But I'm surprised they believed it was within the era!" Van Explained.

"Oh, People of Great Lantern, rejoice. Our world will be graced by our saviour!" The Peace Dreamer continued proclaiming. He climbed on a stone and kept lecturing.

"They are very old organizations. They even amassed the strongest army in the past. But they later disbanded after realizing others were using them for political gain!"

"How old!" Zamright asked.

"Few thousand years. According to the historical record."

"Interesting" Zamright was surprised. Maple wasn't that large so going around was simple.

Soon night came and humans began moving in houses. Then the vampires and the alike come out to have their own tourist activities.

Zamright prepared and sneaked out. Van saw him and he had anticipated that already. He had observed Zamright and his hunch was that his master had a relationship with the king.

Zamright has ditched the people assigned to monitor them. His attire also can't be tracked and can disable any tracking device.

Zamright had not run in tens of centuries but now he was able to reach the speed of sound with relative ease without causing sound or wind.

His destination was the Land of Royalty, now known as the Great Throne City. To his surprise, despite their security and strictness, the city has no walls. The Land Of Royalty used to have 100-meter walls not for defence but for arrogance and punishment.

Usually, ships will float above the wall but if a reputable member breaks the law or commits some indecent act, they will be forced to stand below the wall looking up while people look down on them.

However, that was rarely done only to criminals from big families.

Now, there was no wall, however there was a checkpoint on the road. There were also marks around the city that announced any intruder. Eyes were everywhere, especially now in the night.

Nonetheless, Zamright somehow sneaked in. The city was the most populous but also the most advanced. There were a lot of floating vehicles moving about.

There were tall buildings made of concrete and steel. Patrol Police are everywhere and also lights that make the city look dreamy and holy.

Zamright walked around and he was never stopped. In fact, some looked at him with respect.

When he came close to the palace, Easily he found weak points and Zamright slipped through.

What Zamright didn't know was the guards and other physical security systems were just for show to deter people from breaking the law. However, there was a complex artefact and ability that had the whole city under observation.

Not even dust will move without being observed. Not only can they observe but affect it. Vanished, destroyed, or frozen among other things. However, none of that was triggered as if he was given a free pass.

The Palace of the Great Throne was the greatest building in the Great Lantern due to its size and grandeur. Zamright stood before the entrance of the first palace, the pillars were each 60 meters tall making anyone that stood before it feel insignificant.

Not only that, they emit waves of pressure that force people to bow a bit to show respect. As Zamright entered, people in plain clothes were moving around talking normally.

They glanced at him and nodded as a form of greeting. He did the same as he passed them. A lot of things have changed but in the first location, it was a small town.

Zamright's heart skipped a beat. It was unchanged. Everything was unchanged, and it was more accurate than Maple City.

This was his town, a place he was born in. He walked the street with people seeing him and bowing a little until he reached his home. A mansion elevated above the ground.

He cranes his head to look at it. The house was the same. He moved forward and looked at it. He wanted to touch the stairs that would go up to the entrances but a force field stopped him.

"Lord Lantern, please do not touch the ancient relic!" A guard in bone white armour appeared beside Zamright and said softly with respect.

"Whose house is this?" Zamright asked, trying to hide the trembling of his voice.

"Well, if you don't know I won't know. The Lantern Family have all the knowledge." the guard said with reverence toward the ancient abode.
