Dryath couldn’t make himself believe that. A dangerous rebel like Genthry wouldn’t be so cautious. He had to have an ulterior motive.

He followed his quarry as he wove around the docks, not in any particular direction. It wasn’t hard for Dryath to figure out what he was trying to do, even though his concentration could best be described as divided. He was trying to shake Dryath and then probably find a contact, maybe board a ship. The little bastard had help. They always did.

Dryath wouldn’t allow it. He had no particular love for the institution of slavery, but laws were laws. He had an obligation to uphold them, and murder was against the law for everyone regardless of status. He kept up the chase, through unfamiliar alleys and under the hostile gazes of alien populations.
