บท 207: Midnight snack

As I got ready for bed, my mind was still racing with thoughts of the day's events. I knew that the conversation with Chloe would be difficult, but I also knew that it was necessary. She needed to know the truth, no matter how painful it might be. My thoughts were interrupted by the unmistakable growl of my stomach, a loud reminder that I hadn't eaten since lunch. 

I sighed, pushing back the covers and slipping out of bed. The cool floor against my feet sent a shiver up my spine, and I quickly grabbed a cozy hoodie to ward off the chill. Quietly, I made my way to the kitchen, not wanting to disturb Isabel, who was likely already asleep in her room.

The kitchen was dimly lit, bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight streaming through the window. I flicked on a small lamp, casting a warm, yellow light over the countertops. My stomach rumbled again, and I opened the fridge, peering inside to see what I could throw together quickly.
