When I woke up the next morning, the bed felt unnaturally cold. I reached out instinctively, searching for the warmth of Elena's body, but my hand met only the cool sheets.

My eyes fluttered open, and I immediately noticed the emptiness beside me. The space where Elena should have been was vacant, leaving behind only the faintest impression of her presence.

She must have already left for school. I stared at the ceiling, the events of the previous night crashing down on me like a tidal wave.

The argument replayed in my mind, every sharp word, every unspoken emotion. Guilt gnawed at my insides. Had I really let my jealousy spiral out of control like that? I hadn't wanted to hurt Elena, but I could still see the pain in her eyes, the way she looked at me when she realized I couldn't handle the situation.
