Marc excused himself to the men’s room, and the waiter brought the check. Colin thought that they’d split the price of the meal until he saw the bill—over five hundred and fifty dollars! Colin had no idea it would be so much because his menu had no prices. What am I going to do? I don’t have that kind of money.

When Marc returned, he sputtered about paying him back his half when he got his next royalty check. Marc got scary angry. “I invited you to dinner. Therefore I pay the bill.” Colin was embarrassed but wisely kept his mouth shut.
