With great power, comes great irresponsibility. A thousand years ago, the birth of more than half a billion demigods forced out a new era of unrelenting strength and violence. But the demigods are born from humans, and as is always the case with humans; once the creatures of the Underworld retreated back to their lairs, they started using their strength against each other — oppressing those who are weaker than them.

And of course, normal prisons do not work, so the authorities then just decided to execute everyone who used their abilities for the wrong things. But of course, as civilization evolved and advanced, such barbaric customs were abolished for a more humane option.
