Kayla's POV

Under my continuous pleading, Harrison finally agreed to let me lead the interrogation of Luisa. To accommodate my injuries, Harrison had Martin take Luisa from the dungeon into the central villa.

In this manner, with Luisa in chains and walking with heavy steps, she appeared disheveled before me. Compared to her previous arrogance and defiance, the new version of Luisa was sullen, almost unrecognizable.

"You didn't expect to see me again, did you?"

As my words fell, Luisa lifted her head and glanced at me, her tone very matter-of-fact.

"Well, you're still alive."

"You sound rather disappointed."

"No, Kayla. In fact, I'm happier than anyone else that you're still alive."

Luisa curled her lips slightly, emitting a cold laugh.

"Only with you alive do my daughter Rebecca and I have any hope of avoiding a death sentence."

"If you knew that being involved in my death would lead to such consequences, why did you deliberately lure me to the back of the mountain?"
