Without any delays, they headed towards the back door of the Cathedral and entered it. Then, as guided by the Paladin guarding the back door, they headed straight to the underground area that was lit by magically floating white orbs.
In that underground area, a huge golden door was located with runic engravings in it. The golden door was huge enough to give gamers like Arturo the vibes of being in front of a door leading to a Boss Room in a dungeon.
Fortunately, his mother and his little sister were not playing any kind of MMORPG games and were amazed instead upon seeing the huge door made of gold. Thus, they didn't felt scared—like how Arturo did in his previous life.
When they were just meters away from the door of the Room of Treasures, they were intercepted by a Paladin that was assigned to guard that location.
"Stop! Only one person may enter at once!" The Paladin said in a cold tone.
Arturo could only force out a smile in response and asked, "What about the little girl? Can't she go with my mom?"
The Paladin could only frown in response before exhaling heavily and hopelessly saying, "She could enter with the Madam! But you, sire, must enter separately!"
Arturo scratched the back of his head and said, "Of course! Of course!"
Arturo simply pushed his Mom and his little sister towards the door as if saying, 'Go in now, before the freaking Paladin changes his freaking mind!'
This gave his mother and his little sister no choice but to enter the golden door.
And right after they entered, the runic engravings in the door suddenly glowed with a green color.
"Hoo… It seems like the Madam and the Young Miss have an affinity with Wind!" The Paladin chuckled. Then, he asked, "If it's alright… May I ask from which family you are from, sire?"
Arturo coldly said, "As far as I know… We're just a Merchant Family!"
From Arturo's tone and words, the Paladin knew that the topic about the origins of Arturo's family was quite sensitive, thus, the Paladin did not pry on it any further.
The reason behind this was that families out of concubines of nobles were common, not only in Alvar Kingdom but, in the whole world of Larwan.
And most of such 'unofficial' or 'illegal' families were hidden under the guise of a 'Merchant Family'.
It was obviously rude and, at the same time, sensitive to be asked. And on top of that, the Paladin might 'unconsciously' disrespect someone related to a Noble that might cause his own demise.
Why did the Paladin assume that Arturo, his Mom, and his little sister had a connection with a Noble at the least?
The reason behind it lies with the so-called Artifacts and the Elemental Affinity that they would get from it.
Artifacts are Magical Weapons that gives a human certain Magical Abilities which are often fixated on a Single Elemental Affinity.
Fire, Wind, Land, and Water Elemental Affinities are the only known Elemental Affinities to exist in the Magical World of Larwan.
As for the other elemental affinities, most of them are only heard on rumors and Legends. So, such elemental classifications do not officially exist in the first place.
Moving on… In the Magical World of Larwan, the Civilization and the humans' Government System was similar to the Ancient Times back on Earth—where Nobility exists.
And obviously, Nobility is determined in terms of strength, influence, and power—especially in terms of Magical Ability.
The more powerful a human's magical ability was, the higher his influence in society was!
Coincidentally, Fire stood amongst the four known Elemental Affinities in the World of Larwan. The people who happen to have Fire Elemental Affinities tend to have the most powerful and destructive offensive magical abilities—thus making such people stand on top of everyone else.
Unfortunately, Artifacts that lean towards the Fire Elemental Affinity were rare as f@ck! That is the reason why Royal Families were the only ones who have them for some reason.
Wind Element Affinity is the Second Rarest Recognized Elemental Affinity and the second most destructive element compared to the other elements. Thus, this element was common amongst Nobles and Royal Knights.
As for the Land and Water Element Affinity, these are the two elements that the commoners usually obtain from their Artifacts. The only difference is that Land Element Affinity was more for combat purposes, while Water Element was more for support and production purposes.
Well… The Original Human Dwellers of the Magical World of Larwan misinterpreted the 'Elemental Affinity' being related to their fate, their social standing, or their blood… When, in fact, such belief was just fictitious and that, in reality, their Elemental Affinity was just based on what Artifact they were wielding, or what they got from the [Room of Treasures].
Back to the story…
Just a few seconds after his Mother and his little sister entered the Golden Door… The Golden Door opened once again and his mother and his little sister came out with their chosen Artifacts.
His mother's Artifact was a book that can float freely in front of her, while his little sister's Artifact was a necklace that she was already wearing on her neck.
Their Artifacts were covered with a green aura—indicating that they had Wind Elemental Affinity.
At this moment, the Paladin didn't even dare to look at them in the eyes. To the Paladin, they were people who had a higher social standing and, consequently, a more powerful ability than him.
So, to avoid digging his own grave, the Paladin chose to remain silent instead.
On the other hand, Arturo was glad for his mother and his little sister—knowing that not only would they be safe from the Slave Marking Ritual, but also they have a chance to obtain a high social standing in the future.
Moving on… Arturo entered the Room of Treasures after them.
Upon entering the so-called Room of Treasures, Arturo was greeted by an endless amount of Artifacts scattered in the floor.
Some of the Artifacts were gray in color whilst some of them emanated a single-colored aura around them—indicating their elemental affinities.
Arturo couldn't help but chuckle and say, "It seems like I'd be walking for a while!"
Arturo advances forward on the seemingly endless room filled with Artifacts, whilst resisting an unknown force that was being bombarded towards his body.
Eventually, it came to the point when Arturo's Body was starting to feel exhausted—as if he just finished working out in a gym. That said, he refused to surrender and simply kept walking forward no matter what.
"This freaking place… If I can just utilize the Mana in my body by now... I won't be this pitiful against the magical energy that those freaking swords are releasing!" He grumbled as he was starting to walk as if he was climbing up a very steep hill.
Minutes later…
"Just… a… little… more!" Arturo cried whilst pulling himself closer towards the end of the so-called Room of Treasures.
The end of the Room of Treasures resembled that of a Throne Room in a Royal Palace. That said, instead of a throne, there were seven cribs like chairs—where small dragon-like monsters were sleeping in a coiled up position, circling around the swords that were stabbed at the centermost part of the crib like chairs.
The small dragon-like monsters had scales with a color similar to the thick magical aura enveloping the swords.
White > Blue > Green > Gray > Red > Brown > Black
These were the arrangement of the seven crib-like chairs based on the color of the scale of the small dragon-like monster and the color of the thick aura enveloping the swords with them.
"Hey, guys… Can you guys lessen up the intensity at the least?" Arturo asked towards the seven sleeping dragon-like monsters.
"Don't you know that it's part of the test, human?" The Small Red-Scaled Dragon-like Monster said as it opens its eyes—glaring towards the crawling Arturo.
Arturo flicked his tongue in response and grumbled, saying, "Yeah! Yeah! Test! I know, I know! But… Can't you see that I can't freaking use my Mana yet?!"
"You're not f@cking d@mb to think that a being's strength is all about one's current Mana Potential! Well… Unless one of you thinks otherwise." Arturo chuckled as he drags himself closer to the seven cribs like chairs.
"What an audacity to speak like that in front of us, human! You sure are courageous!" The Small Green-Scaled Dragon-like monster coldly said—as it followed the Red-Scaled Dragon-like monster in glaring towards Arturo.
"I am just saying the truth!" Arturo said.
At this moment, Arturo was slowly pushing himself up—to stand eye to eye with the small dragon-like monsters.
Then, when he was able to stand firmly, he glared towards the small dragon-like monsters and said, "Sorry for the commotion just now… Allow me to introduce myself properly this time, Great Guardians!"
"I am… Arturo Cruz! A future S-Rank Adventurer and… THE NEXT DEMON KING SLAYER!" Arturo said as his eyes emanated an unwavering murderous intent.
