  "But seriously, how are you doing?" His tone was serious with none of the teasing from a few seconds ago.

  "Sore," Ember admitted reaching out to put a hand on her chest. "But having you here now is making me feel better."

  The shrill of the phone startled them, and Ember shook her head reaching out to pick it up.

  "Hello," she answered lightly. "One second please."

  She handed the phone to Ethan who frowned wondering who it was since he already got a message from Tony.

  "Yes," he said a little harshly.

  "Watch the tone," Tony uttered in full Alpha mode before he sighed. "Did you get my message?"

  "You know I did, Sir," Ethan spoke respectfully, voice low. 

  "Ethan, I know you want to spend time with Ember, but now I'm getting phone calls from the damn Alpha himself. His mate insists that she doesn't seem to trust anyone, but you, so he wants you back ASAP."
