[Ding!] [Ding!] [Ding!] [Ding!]
"Ughhh!!! Why won't this incessant noise stop? It's driving me insane!" Kaito grumbled, throwing an arm over his face.
Curious about how I ended up here? Well, I could tell you, but I'm far too—
Author: Spill the beans, or I swear I'll erase you!
Fine, fine. So, like every other mundane day, I woke up in my… let's see… 500-dollar, cramped, falling-apart apartment that I rent. Not exactly glamorous, but hey, life isn't a manga. Well, it wasn't. Not yet anyway. Haha…ha…
I dragged myself out of my half broken bed, barely managing to peel my face off my pillow. A cheap, dollar-store alarm clock screaming from the nightstand. Its beeping echoed like it had some personal vendetta against me.
"Shut…up…" I mumbled, fumbling for the clock with one hand while my other reached for the window. Grabbing the annoying little device, I tossed it out without a second thought.
Crash!
Down it went, tumbling onto the street below. I watched from my fourth-floor window as it hit the pavement, the beeping finally silenced. Some random passerby glanced up at me.
"Mommy, who's that weird man?" a small kid asked, pointing straight at me.
"Don't stare, honey," his mother hissed, yanking him away.
I rolled my eyes and slammed the window shut. "Kids these days…"
After my little episode with the alarm clock, I headed to the bathroom, my legs feeling like lead, I grabbed my toothbrush, starring at my self in the mirror, dark circles under my eyes. Wild, black hair sticking up in all directions. Yep, I looked as bad as I felt.
"Kaito Sakamura," I muttered, brushing my teeth, "how the mighty have fallen."
Once I was halfway presentable (if you look count looking like a zombie presentable), I threw on my wrinkled white tux shirt, pulled out my black pants, and tied a lazy knot on my tie.
I looked at my phone.
"7:30 AM. Great I am Again."
Panic set in as I grabbed my bag and bolted for the door. I raced down the stairs, the old wooden step creaking, my apartment building was practically a death trap, but it's all I could afford.
Reaching the bottom, I ran through the exit, barely making it in time to catch the train, I squeezed through the crowded train, in hanging onto the overhead handle a I tried to catch my breath.
"Huff…huff… I…made…it…barely"
I pulled out my phone, and a text notification from my boss, Goro Takeda, appeared on the screen. My heart sank.
"KAITO! YOU'RE LATE AGAIN! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME! I'LL BE DEDUCTING YOUR PAY!"
"Great. Just great," I muttered under my breath, quickly typing back a half-hearted apology. "I'm really sorry, sir! It won't happen again, I promise!"
The train automated voice, "Next stop: Stop 21"
As the doors opened, I sprinted off, running as fastest I could towards the office building, I could feel my boss wrath already, and I really don't want another lecture from boss again.
By the time I reached the elevator, I was a mess, I pressed the button for the seventh floor, trying to straighten my clothes and fix my hair on the reflection shiny doors. When the doors opened, I bolted down the hallway to room 268 where my tiny office is.
"Sorry I am late!" I gasped trying to catch my breath as I burst through the door.
Goro Takeda, my boss, waddled in behind me, his red face and scowling, he was bald, overweight, and had a commanding voice, "KAITO! GET TO WORK AND FINSIH THOSE DAMN DOCUMENTS BEFORE YOU REGRET IT!"
"Yes, sir!" I scrambled to my desk, eager to avoid any more yelling from his boss. Sitting next to me is Aya Nakamura, a co-worker who took wait too much pleasure in tormenting me. She had long black hair and mischievous purple eyes that always seemed to be plotting something.
"You're late again virgin boy "Honestly, how do you keep this job?"
I shot her a glare. "Leave me alone, Aya. I've had enough trouble for one day."
She leaned forward, smirking. "You know, if you asked me nicely, I could always cover for you. But I guess you're too proud for that, huh?"
Rolling my eyes, I ignored her and turned to my computer. Aya's teasing was nothing new, but today I wasn't in the mood. Still, she didn't let up
"Hey Kaito" she said, while tapping my shoulder.
"What?"
"Want to grab lunch later? I know this cute little café—"
"No."
She pouted dramatically. "Oh come on! Don't be so grumpy, it's just lunch."
"No means no you slu- I mean no," I said, getting up from my desk. I needed air. Badly. Without another word, I headed for the rooftop leaving her behind.
The rooftop was my refuge, my one escape from the chaos of my office. I pulled out a piece of cigarette and lit it, leaning against the railing as the cool breeze hit my face. The view wasn't great, just a bunch of tall building and bustling streets below, but it was peaceful…at lease for a moment.
Then somehow a small rock hit his forehead from the wind.
"Ow!" I rubbed my head looking around "What the hel—"
Before I could finish my sentence, I tripped over another small rock and stumbled forward. My hands failing as I tried to grab onto something, anything, but my finger slipped off the rusty railing, in a split second I realized what was happening.
"Oh no…"
I was falling. Twelve stories. Straight down.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no!" My heart race as I plummeted towards the ground "am I going to die?"
"Wait"
"WAIT!"
I DONT WANT TO DIE AS A VIRGIN!!!!"
SPLAT.
"Someone call 911" "AHHH" "some call a ambulance" "oh my god"
The world went dark.
