บท 12: Good Daughter

"Waa, my beautiful daughters are together. What are they discussing? How come it looks really exciting."

The man's arrival made Aruna's entire focus come back together, she used most of her focus to control her expression.

'Raveena is very sensitive to these kinds of things, so I have to be more careful until I can bring concrete evidence to her.'

"Secret~" Raveena answered with a smile, then she got up from her chair.

"We'll talk about it later, Nanon."

A small smile spread across Aruna's lips when she heard her sister call her "Nanon", Raveena's "special" nickname for Aruna to express her love.

'In the past, I really hated it when Raveena called me that name. Because, I felt like I was being teased. But now, I really miss being called like that.'

'The truth is, sometimes as funny as it is, the things I used to hate turned out I can miss it. On the contrary, the things I like...'

Aruna's eyes automatically fell on the figure of the middle-aged man standing in front of her. She could only sigh in her heart and decided to just leave.

'I'm in a pretty good mood right now, I don't want to ruin it by chatting with him. Besides, I have no business with him, at least for now.'

As soon as Aruna got up from her seat, the man's strong hand held her.

"Just a moment, okay? I want to chat for a moment."

Aruna didn't confirm or reject the man's request, she just looked at him with eyes that were difficult to translate.

"How is your days lately?"

Again, Aruna just stared at him, waiting for another sentence the man would say.

As if understanding the meaning of the 12 year old girl's gaze, her father continued, "It seems like I often see you playing with your phone, do you have any new friends?"

'Unbelievable, I've only been communicating with that person for the past 4 days, but he already knows something?'

This time, Aruna finally showed her expression, she raised one eyebrow and waited again for the continuation of his question.

"Ah, don't get me wrong, I'm just worried that Aruna will be in the wrong company."

"None of your business." Aruna said in a very cold tone of voice and facial expression.

The shock was very clear on the man's face, which made the grip on his hand also lessen. Aruna took advantage of this to withdraw her hand. However, as if he had regained consciousness, the man gripped Aruna's small wrist tightly again.

"Ow!!!" Aruna screamed while making an expression of pain.

"Dad, what are you doing? You're hurting me."

"What did you just say?"

"I said, I do some business there."

"Business?"

Realizing that there was a misunderstanding here, her father relaxed his grip again but had no intention of letting her go.

Aruna nodded slightly.

"Can you please let me go? I feel uncomfortable." Here, Aruna's acting begins. She's back to play her favourite psychology game.

Occasionally she would throw an unexpected deadly attack, however, once she was done with it, she would pretend like an innocent girl who didn't know anything.

"What business? With whom?" Aruna's father's patience was running low due to the initial surprise attack, so he didn't realize that the skin on the girl's hands had started to turn red.

"A sister I know from the internet, father, let go. Please."

"A sister? Who? Tell me her name and where do you meet?"

Without realizing it, the more questions this man asked, the more impatient he became to hear the answers. So, the grip on Aruna became tighter.

"Owww!!!"

Like most scared little girls, Aruna screamed quite loudly. Then, she cried uncontrollably and attracted the attention of people around them. Including Aruna's mother and older sister who were at the inn which was not far from where Aruna was currently standing.

With a panicked face, Aruna's mother ran to her daughter.

"What's wrong? What happened?"

Not explaining anything, Aruna just continued crying while holding her wrist which was already dark red.

"Aruna, sorry, I didn't mean--"

Hearing his apology, instead of calming down, the girl trembled even more and sobbed. Then she hid behind her mother, as if she wanted to hide from a very, very scary monster.

Of course, seeing this, Aruna's mother's first instinct as a mother was to hug her poor daughter and take her to a safer place.

'I never thought that a golden opportunity like this would fall from the sky. I didn't need to bother leading him, he came alone to seek his death. Lucky~'

Cheers of joy were already resounding noisily in her heart.

'Thank you dad. You've dug your own grave. As your good daughter, I will make sure you enter it in peace and rest there forever.'

If Aruna were depicted in a cartoon, there would have been two small red horns sticking out of Aruna's head right now.

After a few moments, Aruna's crying had subsided. The redness on her hand had reduced because they had compressed it with ice, but occasionally she still looked scared. Worried that his father would come in here too.

"Well, what actually happened?"

Aruna's mother slowly asked the question she had been itching to ask for a long time.

Not answering immediately, Aruna lowered her head. Then, she shook her head slowly.

"Did dad try to hurt you? Did he do something bad to you? What--"

"Mom." Before another question could be asked, Raveena stopped her.

"Aruna is still in shock. Let's give her some time."

"But, we have to know what actually happened so we can do something."

"Yeah, I understand it, Mom. But, wait a little longer. Let the child calm down first, okay?"

Their mother's eyes finally fell on her daughter's still shaking body, then, she could only sigh and gently rub Aruna's back.

"I'm sorry, your mother was too hasty."

Not answering, Aruna remained silent and looked down.

Actually, the reason behind her action was because she was confused about how to react.

All in her life, she always hide her weaknesses and deal with her problems alone. So, she didn't know, in conditions like this, to make things seem convincing that she was really a victim, what she should do or what kind of expression she should make.

As a result, she could only remain silent and continue to look down while looking for the most appropriate move in the next round.

However, what Aruna didn't know was that her simple action was now like gasoline poured on the small fire in Raveena's heart.

Her actions today were unintentional, but will have a tremendous impact on her future.
