บท 17: Chapter 16
Gavin was up early the next morning. Looking out over the sands at the twin suns rising over Tatooine, he listened as SAM updated him on his slightly more complicated next hunt.
"The 7 are low-level associates with the Pyke Syndicate. It is likely they have been sent to cause trouble with Jabba." SAM explained. "They are highly funded, and their hideout has a lot of surveillance."
Gavin thought for a minute. "So they likely know about the bounties. Their higher ups are sacrificing them to start trouble with Jabba. Can we cut off all surveillance when I attack?"
"Yes, sir, it is possible, but I can only cut surveillance for 5 minutes. The Pykes will also be able to get information about you when you turn in the bounty." SAM responded.
"Then we will have to move quickly. Hopefully, this doesn't backfire." Gavin said.
That night, Gavin once again entered the shadows of the city. While moving, he came upon the hideout of the spice dealers. He had packed extra grenades when he left he would destroy what evidence he could. Taking the credits for his use and making it harder to track him. Jabba probably wouldn't be happy, but he should have specified no damage to the dealers wears in the bounty request.
Settling in, he located the 2 lookouts. The other 5 must be inside. Waiting till the door opened for a lookout to go releive himself, Gavin had SAM jam the surveillance before rushing the building l. Using his pistol, he put 4 bullets into the first guard, a Gamorian, killing him without a sound. The next two shots caught the second guard, a human in the head.
Reloading as he entered, he put a round through a rodian that came to see what the noise was. Two of the dealers were counting a pile of credits he killed them just before they got to their blasters. He was then shot by a Twilek spinning around he emptied the remaining 3 shots into the alien's chest.
A Quarren tackled him into the wall, and they began to fight. As they smashed from wall to wall and room to room, Gavin was aware that his time was running out. Activating his omniblade, Gavin stabbed the Quarren through the chest. Using a holoprojector, he gained the evidence needed to turn in the bounties.
He then swept the pile of credits on the table into a nearby sack before leaving after setting the grenades. Gavin managed to get back to the rooftop as surveillance came back. The grenades detonated, devastating the inside of the hideout. Gavin had left a mix of incendiary and concussion grenades. the building collapsed in on itself, destroying everything left inside. After turning the bounty in, he received his reward and disappeared back to his ship for the night.
Gavin slept in the medical bay. His blaster wound had taken a while to get patched up. His shoulder still wouldn't be 100%, but thanks to the medigel and jedi healing techniques, he should be able to get around just fine.
"Sir, I have calculated the credits you gained. 250,000 credits. You should be able to get the droids from a Droid merchant." SAM informed him.
"Is there a reputable one here?" Gavin asked.
"There is, but sir, I have a concern." SAM answered.
"What seems to be the problem?" Gavin asked.
"You originally wanted to use DUM series pit droids. Due to their const efficiency and ease of transport. However, upon observation, I believe this series to be unfit to work with the kind of delicate workmanship required." SAM spoke, airing his misgivings.
"I agree," Gavin began, "If they were the only droids then yes it would be foolish. However I also intent to have some R2 Series and LE Series astromechs. They are expert mechanics and should be sufficient for the fine tuning. The Pit droids would be for heavy labor and simpler tasks."
"Understood, then may I suggest contacting Serv-O-Droid Inc. directly? Have them delivered to a spaceport for pickup? As for the astromechs, wouldn't the new R5 series be better than the older R2?"
Gavin nodded. "If it were just about cost, then yes, you would be correct. R5 series, though, has a reputation for malfunctioning."
Placing his order with both Serv-O-Droid and Industrial Automaton for the droids he was told both orders would be ready in about 2 weeks. Gavin decided to fly to Telos. (Might as well pick up the holocrons, besides it might be a decent base if it is still intact after all these years.) Gavin thought to himself as he lifted off.
POV Unknown Regions ??????????
"What is it?" ???????
"He has gone too far, he attacked the ship as it flew through our territory. He exposed our military might to destroy a civilian vessel at the behest of an outsider." ??????
"What happened to the vessel?" ????
"You know him he tried to get it to surrender. When the fool of a Jedi refused his offer, he attacked it. it crashed in the Redoubt. Scans show less than 50 survivors. the Council has decided to leave them to their fate." ???????
