บท 19: Wave mission pt 1
It's been some days since the survival test. We've gotten mission after mission, but unfortunately all the missions we've gotten were D-ranks. I couldn't improve myself ata all during those misssions.
I figured out this was about the time when Team 7 got their first C-rank mission. We had just finished mission of catching Tora the "demon cat".
Walking first into the Hokage's office i demanded -Hokage-sama we need a more difficult mission. I respectully ask you to give us a C-Rank mission.- Sasuke quickly backed me up as the kind of missions we've been getting was beneath him. Iruka raised himself from the table next to Hiruzen and started to lecture us on how we weren't ready for that stage yet and that we could only reach it by diligent training and discipline.
Hiruzen tried to calm Iruka down by saying.-Iruka, Iruka calm down. Getting a harder mission may be good for them. They can get a learning experience from it.-
He pulled a paper from from the folder marked with C. And told us the contents of the mission. -I'm going to give you a mission to the land of the waves. The mission is to escort a bridge builder named Tazuna to the land of the waves and protect him until the bridge get finished.-
In the door came a stinking old man. He pointed at me and stumbled with his glass of liquor while stating -You think that this brat is capable of protecting me.- I Rebuted his statement by saying. -I'm more capable to protect from others than you're at protecting you from yourself. The way you smell and drink no wonder you need me as your babysitter let alone four people.- Tazuna got angry but just dismissed it as he knew he needed us for the mission anyways.
Hiruzen coughed to get our attention and announced. -Rest well today. You will be leaving tomorrow at 9 o'clock.-
The next day we met up at the agreed spot so we could leave. Surprisingly Kakashi was there on time, i guess even he doesn't get late to a mission. When we vot outside the port we walked at a leisure speed to not exhausted Tazuna. On the way Sakura started asking about the Ninja village on why the land of the Waves didn't have their own shinobi. I toned out as i already knew the boring things they were talking about.
When we walked by a puddle of rain i got suspicious as it hasn't been raining in weeks. I continued walking for a bit a man came up from the puddle and attacked. In the corner of my eye i saw another man attacking too. Soon after they twined a pair of chains around Kakashi. When they pulled his whole body got squeezed by the chains and severed. Sakura screamed cause she thought our sensei was killid however i knew that wouldn't happen to a shinobi of his caliber.
I knew i had to get in action so i threw a Hiraishin kunai at the ground between us. I then jumped back to create distance. The one on the ground dashed forward and thrusted his hand out without seeing the kunai. I quickly teleported to the kunai and pushed his forearm up so the chain connected to his hand twirled itself around his partner.
Midair i took a kunai out of my pocket and stabbed him in the stomach. I then pulled his arm so that the chain smashed the other guy into the ground. Effectly incapacitating both of them.
Kakashi suddenly appeared. He gave me a look, most likely questionibg how i knew the hiraishin. He didn't give it much importance and took the two of them behind the bushes to interrogate them. When he was done he came out of the bushes and said - Great job Naruto you managed to make sure that they were protected. Sasuke, Sakura good job to you also you managed to guard the client while Naruto defeated the enemy- He then turned to Tazuna and said -Tazuna there seems to be something you're not telling us.-
Kakashi asked us -Since you guys have gotten a taste of the life of a shinobi. Do you guys want to return or continue the mission.
Sakura then nervously suggested
-Maybe we should return to the village? The mission seems too difficult for us right now.-
I told them there is no way, im going to return to catching that cat again.-
Sasuke agreed with me immidietly.
By majority vote Kakashi decided to continue.
It took a while before we came to the coast. There it was a guy that offered to escort us over to the island of the waves for some money.
On the boat it was silent most of the time until we came to a mist covered area where Kakashi let a bit of his killing intent out to intimidate Tazuna and said. -A C-rank mission shouldn't have any enemy ninjas after us. Why did you lie.-
Tazuna started visibly sweting,ge soon began telling the story of how Gato had taken over his country and made them all poor. They couldn't afford a higher ranking mission that's why he had to lie to save his village.
He hung his head down and said. -I understand if you guys want to return now. Just remember that you would probably leave my daughter alone with her son. And she'll going to resent the leaf village for the rest of her life.- Trying to guilt us into helping him which worked since Kakashi assured him that we would.
Once we came out of the miat our escort dropped us off and said. -This is as far as i can go. Good luck.- He then sped off on his boat back into the mist.
We continued to walk towards the village on a path in the forest. Walking in the forest i heard a sharp noise behind us. Kakashi then held on to Tazuna and told the rest of us to duck.
Out of nowhere a giant longsword came flying towards us and embeded itself into a tree.
A man appeared at lightning speed. He stood on the sword with his arms crossed.
Kakashi signed for us to back off. He rook another step forward and said -If i'm not mistaken, you're the rogue ninja of the mist Zabuza Momochi.-
{3rd Pov}
Kakashi took his hand up to his headband so he could be prepared for an attack. He carefully assesed the motions of Zabuza.
Zabuza semmed to have recognized Kakashi as he was an noteworthy shinobi. -I'll assume your Kakaahi of the Sharingan. Right?-
Kakashi pulled up the headband and said -Fight me then.- Zabuza mockingly honoring him by saying -I never expected to see the famous Sharingan so soon.-
Sasuke was surprised as his sensei had the ocular jutsu that belonged to his clan.
Before anyone managed to do anything Zabuza covered the whole area with the hidden mist jutsu, pulled up his sword then shunshined away.
Kakashi took a step forward and said -Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura protect our client. I'll take care of Zabuza.-
Zabuza tried to intimidate the Genins by psyching them out. He told them the eight instant kill points in the body while releasing killing intent.
This proved to be too much for Sasuke. He thought "What a bloodlust! I feel like if i do any movement i'll be killed in an instant. If this goes on for any longer, i'm going to lose my mind. If this is the killing intent of a j jonin. How will it be when i face Itachi. I have to kill myself to escape this feeling".
Kakashi noticed in the corner of his eye that Sasuke seemed to be almost at the point of suicide. He knew he had to reinforce his will in front of the helplesness Sasuke felt. -Sasuke, don't worry, i'll protect you till my last breath.-
Naruto secretly placed a Hiraishin sign on the back of Tazuna. The tap was so light that he didn't notice it.
His small but motivating speech gave tge Team hope again. Each and everyone gripped their weapon harder and started to focus.
Just as Team 7 started to get hang of themselves Zabuza appeared in the middle of their formation. He was ready to slash them at any moment.
Fortuanately for team 7 Naruto had already predicted it. He threw a kunai out of Zabuza's range and teleported Tazuna to the kunai.
Kakashi appeared between them and blocked the hit from Zabuzas sword. Kakashi struggled to push back the massive sword of Zabuza.
As the struggle went on Naruto came in as the tiebreaker and stabbed the swordsmans stomach with his kunai. The wound started to drip. The liquid was cold and light. Naruto looked at it, he saw water dripping down his hand and onto the ground.
Then Zabuzas whole body dissolved into water. Naruto backed up and thought "It must be a waterclone"
Just after that thought another Zabuza appeared and slashed Kakashi in two parts. Immdietly another Kakashi arrived and held to Zabuzas neck.
Zabuza started talking in a monologue to Kakashi about how he managed to copy the Mizu Bunshin. Under his mobologue another Zabuza appeared behind Kakashi ready to attack.
Kakashi had to quickly kill the clone and duck just after so that the one behind him couldn't land his blow on him. However Zabuza recovered in an instant and kicked Kakashi with as much power he could muster. He kicked so hard that Kakashi disappeared in the mist.
He tried following Kakashi, however Kakashi had laid out a trap so ge couldn't get followed by a second blow.
Zabuza squinted his eyes and saw Kakashi's head pop up out of the water. He thought "This guy must be foolish to go inside the water against a shinobi from the mist". Zabuza jumped into the water.
He stood behind Kakashi and started doing hand signs -Suiryon no jutsu-. A ball of water started to cover Kakashi. He tried all he could to escape however the water prison proved invincible.
With no other choice Kakashi shouted -Leave, go back to the village and request back up. I'll be fine-
- No we'll never leave you. In the shinobi world those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum.-
