บท 186: Chapter 186

Listening to Azura's indignant words, Zuri felt no ripples in her heart.

In her past life, the hardships she endured were not something she wished to relive.

Out of sight, out of mind. No need to fight, to care, or to compare.

Being alone was just fine!

"It doesn't matter."

Azura, hearing those three words, felt both angry and heartbroken.

Who could truly be indifferent and free of resentment?

Azura walked up to her and hugged her arm. "We don't need them. I'll be your family."

"Mm," Zuri responded with a smile.

On the other side, Grayson walked into the office, holding a sealed plastic bag. "Mr. Feng, I got Zuri's hair."

Inside the sealed bag were several long strands of hair.

Nolan looked at the plastic bag in front of him, then took out another plastic bag from his drawer, stood up, and grabbed his coat before heading out.

"Cancel all my appointments for the next two days," Nolan ordered in a low voice.

"Yes, sir," Grayson replied, already prepared for this.

He hoped that this time would not be another disappointment.

Nolan personally drove to a laboratory base on the outskirts of Magic City. Upon entering, he headed straight for the basement. The people along the way greeted Nolan respectfully when they saw him.

After passing through several doors, he arrived at the core laboratory. The people inside were about to scold the intruder until they saw who it was and swallowed their words.

Nolan walked up and looked through the glass door at his brother, who was completely absorbed in his work, unaware of anything unusual outside.

"Open the door," Nolan instructed.

The lab director quickly used his access to open the lab door. As the door opened, Nolan walked in and directly approached Adam.

Even with Nolan's presence, Adam remained focused on his work until he completed the current task and then turned to Nolan.

"What's up?" Adam adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses.

Nolan took out two items.

Seeing the two items, Adam raised an eyebrow, but his reaction was mild. Anyone who had done this many times would be used to it.

"So, you've found another girl who meets the criteria," Adam remarked casually as he took the two samples, looking at the long strands of hair.

"The jade pendant has appeared, and this hair belongs to its owner."

"The pendant showed up?" A sharp glint flashed in Adam's dark eyes beneath the gold-rimmed glasses.

The Feng family had been searching for this pendant for more than a decade, and it seemed to have vanished without a trace.

And now, it had resurfaced.

"Get the results as soon as possible," Nolan ordered.

"Got it," Adam agreed.

Nolan stepped out. He thought his brother would leave, but seeing Nolan waiting outside was quite surprising.

Nolan had waited the first and second times, but in the following years, he no longer waited for the results and instead awaited their notification.

That his brother was waiting now piqued Adam's curiosity about the owner of this hair.

Though Adam seemed nonchalant, he worked swiftly.

Having done this every few years, Adam was already familiar with the process. A paternity test was a small matter that could have been delegated to someone else, but he chose to do it himself.

When the results came in, Adam's hands, known in the medical world for their steady precision, trembled slightly.

Adam stepped out of the lab.

Nolan stood up. "How is it?"

"Can you tell me who she is? Where is she now?" Adam's emotions were complicated. After searching for more than a decade, finally finding her felt almost unreal.

"Her name is Zuri, and she's in Oceanic City."

"Zuri," Adam murmured, his memories flooding back, and a pair of beautiful eyes flashed in his mind.

It's her!

The girl lying on the hospital bed, whose despair was palpable.

She was his sister.

Back then, he wondered what had happened to her at such a young age to make her give up on the world.

Now, recalling the dead, lifeless look in her eyes, Adam felt a sharp pain in his heart.

Without saying another word, Adam took off his lab coat and, as he walked, instructed his assistant, "Do not disturb me for the next few days."

The assistant and the lab staff were stunned by Adam's unusual behavior.

"It's her, isn't it?" Though phrased as a question, the tone was affirmative.

Adam nodded.

A gleam of light flashed in Nolan's eyes—she was indeed his sister, his sister by blood.

The two quickly left the lab base and headed straight for Oceanic City.

"Did you notify our parents?" Nolan asked.

Adam turned, surprised. "Wasn't that your job?"

"How could I call while driving?" Nolan glared at his brother, who always seemed to mess things up.

So, the two hurried to Oceanic City without informing their parents.

Reluctantly, Adam pulled out his phone and called their father. After three rings, the other end finally picked up, and a stern voice came through.

"What is it?"

That cold, businesslike tone was ever-present.

Adam was long used to it and replied just as coolly, "We found Feng Yin."

There was silence on the other end for a long moment.

"Where?"

"Oceanic City. My brother and I are heading there now," Adam briefly explained.

"Good." Feng An hung up the phone and sat in place for a while before standing up and walking to the next room. There, a beautiful woman sat holding a doll, singing softly. If you ignored the doll, everything seemed peaceful and serene.

Feng An walked over and took the doll from her hands. The woman, who had been gentle, suddenly became fierce and snatched the doll back from Feng An.

"Don't take my daughter away from me. Mommy's here. Don't be scared, my sweet girl," she said, cradling the doll carefully as if it were a real child.

Watching his wife like this, Feng An felt both heartache and sadness. He spoke softly, "Nian'er, we've found Xiao Yin. In a few days, Nolan will bring her back. She won't be happy if she sees you holding this."

The woman didn't respond and continued to immerse herself in her world.

"Don't you want your Xiao Yin anymore?" Feng An asked.

Her movements paused, and she looked up at him, confused. "Where's my Xiao Yin? I want to find her."

"We'll wait at home. Nolan will bring her back."

She didn't listen. "No, I want to go myself. Don't lie to me again."
