The sun had set when Xi Ming and Li Fei finally reached the capital. Li Fei had taken the position of the carriage driver after giving him a small burial.
They lodged in an inn, securing a small room where they could rest for a while.
After cleaning up and eating, Xi Ming stood up, stretching his limbs. "I'm going out," he said flatly.
Li Fei, who was still very much exhausted, gave him a half-hearted grunt in response. "Don't stray too far."
Xi Ming hummed and left.
The streets of the capital were especially busy and filled with people, especially nobles from various parts of the Xi dynasty. This was mainly because of the imperial exam, an event that would determine their future positions in the government.
The streets were filled with luxurious carriages, finely dressed scholars, and traders hawking their goods.
I really don't know what to do. I have this huge story for this arc however I just realized that my idea may just be better off as another whole book instead cause the original number of chapters planned for this arc was 50 chapters but we are already at 30 something chapter and we are yet to reach half of it. There is still a whole arc of politics, murders and Xi Ming's total descent to madness which we are even yet to get to. I think I am just going to have to shorten this arc by cutting of some plots points in it.
