บท 10: Profession

Kai sat quietly in his room, reflecting on the events that had unfolded over the past few days. The encounter with the gang, the rescue of Hanabi and Mrs. Kimura, and his newfound powers weighed heavily on his mind. He knew he had to prepare for the future, not only to protect Hanabi but also to navigate the dangerous world they lived in. He opened the system menu, seeking guidance on the next steps.

Profession Selection:

Tank: Front-line giants who lead the charge, choosing the right times and situations to initiate aggression. Tanks possess high durability and defensive capabilities, often protecting their allies while absorbing enemy attacks.

Fighter: Close-range combatants with a mix of offensive and defensive capabilities. Fighters excel in both mobility and damage, making them versatile combatants able to adapt to various situations.

Assassin: Agile heroes specializing in killing or disabling targets. Assassins focus on infiltration, deception, and mobility, striking when the time is right to secure kills.

Mage: Heroes with longer-range, ability-based area of effect damage, and crowd control. Mages primarily focus on magic skills that deal burst damage from a distance.

Marksman: Ranged heroes who rely on basic attacks to deal continuous damage from a distance. Marksmen excel in taking down opponents when positioned safely behind their team.

Support: Heroes who aid and protect allies, providing shields, healing, and crowd control. Supports focus on keeping their team alive and assisting in various ways during combat.

Kai pondered over each profession, weighing their strengths and weaknesses. He needed a role that would complement his abilities. His thoughts drifted back to the previous battles and how he had relied on a combination of agility and raw power to overcome his enemies. Two professions stood out to him: Fighter and Assassin.

Fighter: Close-range combatants with a mix of offensive and defensive capabilities. Fighters excel in both mobility and damage, making them versatile combatants able to adapt to various situations. Their balance of strength and agility would allow Kai to deal significant damage to enemies while maintaining resilience.

Assassin: Agile heroes specializing in killing or disabling targets. Assassins focus on infiltration, deception, and mobility, striking when the time is right to secure kills. Their stealth and precision would enable Kai to take out threats quickly and efficiently from the shadows.

"System, what profession would best suit me?" Kai asked, seeking the system's input.

System Analysis:

Based on the host's current abilities, both the Fighter and Assassin professions are viable options. However, the host's current physical attributes and regenerative capabilities align more closely with the Fighter profession, which offers a balanced approach to combat.

Kai nodded, feeling a sense of satisfaction with the system's recommendation. However, the allure of the Assassin profession was hard to ignore. The ability to strike swiftly and silently, taking out enemies before they even realized he was there, was tempting.

"But the Fighter's versatility might be more practical right now," Kai reasoned. "Especially since I need to be both strong and resilient to protect Hanabi."

Being a Vampire Progenitor is like having all the professions because a progenitor's constitution encompasses a range of attributes.

After a moment of contemplation, Kai made his decision. "Fighter it is," he said decisively.

Profession Selected: Fighter

The host has chosen the Fighter profession.

He felt a surge of power as the selection of professions are over.

"Nice"

The next morning, Kai woke up early and prepared breakfast for Hanabi. He was determined to start his training with his new profession and abilities. After ensuring Hanabi had eaten and was settled, he headed to the backyard to begin his rigorous training regimen.

He started with intense strength training, performing push-ups, pull-ups, and weightlifting exercises. He lifted heavy rocks and logs, using them as improvised weights to build muscle mass and power.

Next, he set up an obstacle course with cones, ropes, and suspended balls. He practiced intricate footwork patterns, sprints, and dodging exercises to enhance his speed, reflexes, and agility.

Lastly, he ran laps around the perimeter of the backyard, increasing his cardiovascular endurance. He combined running with circuit training, performing a series of exercises continuously to build stamina and resilience.

After an intense training session, Kai sat down to think about their future. He needed a plan to make money and to enter Luminous Peak Academy. From the future knowledge he had gained, he knew the entrance exam for the academy had ended a month ago.

He thought through various options, weighing their pros and cons. He needed to find a way to showcase his abilities and secure a spot at the academy. After careful consideration, he finally came up with a plan.

---

The next day, after leaving Hanabi with Mrs. Kimura, Kai set out on a long journey. He assured them he would be gone for a day or two. Hanabi insisted on her brother staying, her eyes pleading with him, but Kai gently explained that this was something he had to do for their future.

"Hanabi, I promise I'll be back soon," Kai said, hugging her tightly. "Trust me, okay?"

Hanabi nodded reluctantly, her grip on him tightening. "Okay, brother. Just come back safe."

Kai smiled, ruffling her hair. "I will. I promise."

With a heavy heart, Kai left, determined to succeed in his mission. He rode a bus, and after a few stops, he transferred to a subway for a four-hour journey. The monotonous hum of the train and the steady rhythm of the tracks gave him time to think and mentally prepare for what lay ahead.

Finally, he took a taxi, directing the driver to a remote campsite. The ride was long, the scenery changing from bustling city streets to quieter, more desolate areas. Kai's thoughts were focused on the cave he had seen in his future knowledge. It was said to contain a powerful artifact that could help him gain entry into Luminous Peak Academy.

As the taxi pulled up to the campsite, Kai stepped out, his eyes fixed on the huge cave with an ominous aura leaking from it.

"Hey, over here," a bulky guy in armor called out.

"He's a tank," Kai mused. "From his aura, he's the same rank as me. Must be the leader."

The bulky guy approached, extending his hand. "I'm Martin. What's your name?"

"I'm Kai," he responded with a smile, shaking Martin's hand.

"Wow, you're so young," he asked surprised.

"How old are you?" he curiously asked.

"I'm 13," kai responded.

"You said you were a low-tier warrior, right?" Martin asked.

"Yes," Kai replied, watching as four other people joined them.

'There are 4 high-tier warriors and one medium-tier warrior,' Kai thought.

There was one with a bow, one with a staff, one with a sword, and one with daggers. A five-man squad: Tank, Marksman, Mage, Fighter, and Assassin.

"You're the porter?" a young man with the bow asked with disdain, looking down on Kai. "I can see why. You're weak," he said before leaving with the other three.

"Don't mind them, don't mind them," Martin said, scratching the back of his head with a sheepish grin. "They can be a bit harsh on new recruits."

'As expected of one of the minor villains the protagonist will face in the academy,' Kai thought, watching the young man with the bow walk away.

Symon Nuballs, son of a corrupt teacher from the academy. From future knowledge, Kai knew that Symon would find a super rare flower in this cave and become the sole survivor of this expedition. The other four were mercenaries hired by Symon's father to protect him. This mercenary group was dangerous; they always used their porters as meat shields.

The flower Symon would find could cure any illness and raise a person's talent if brewed correctly. After coming to the academy, Symon's talent would soar to legend rank. Sadly, he would later be killed by the protagonist after attempting to murder him during a test at the academy.
