บท 72: Fleet 53
Kartik looks at his colleague, who is excited to talk about scientific theories.
Kartik listens to him while paying attention to what the chairperson is saying.
Soon the chairperson invites the fleet commander of fleet 53 to speak.
"Next, we will have the commander of fleet 53 with us to tell us more about his experiences with the world behind the Portal and Mophis."
With light applause, the fleet commander boards the stage.
It is not the first time for him to speak to an audience; however, he has never spoken to an audience consisting of seniors prior to this.
He was a little nervous; however, he had prepared a long time for it by practicing in the Pearl.
So, he remembered his practice and brought out the prepared notes that he had written to help in case he forgot.
He stands at the podium and opens his notes.
"Everyone, I am the commander of the 53rd exploration fleet of the Empire."
"A few weeks ago, our fleet crossed a portal and entered an unknown world."
"We did not know what happened that day as none of us has any recollections of that time."
Kartik: [No recollections]
[Not a single person remembers anything]
[This means that someone fainted them, all of them]
It was surprising to everyone as they didn't think that the portal crossing scene on the Past Viewer took place when the entire fleet crew had fainted.
It meant that it wasn't a crew member that steered the ship.
The ship turned directions for some other reason.
"We only remember doing our duties and suddenly waking up in Beastilia."
Kartik: "Beastilia"
"Yes, Beastilia"
"That's the name of the planet that we arrived on."
He paused for a few moments before continuing,
"It cannot exactly be called a planet as we haven't been able to prove its spherical shape."
This statement invited exclamations from everyone.
No one was not surprised at this.
Fleet 53 consisted of some of the most advanced technologies of the Empire.
These technologies can scan multiple planets at a time.
It is loaded with telescopes capable of seeing light-years away.
And radars and many other technologies.
If all these technologies cannot prove its spherical shape, then…
Everyone looked at the fleet commander for more information.
The fleet commander didn't disappoint.
He soon came up with the results of the various tests done by the crew on Beastilia.
And these reports rendered the scientists speechless.
What the fleet commander said is indeed correct; these reports cannot prove the spherical shape of Beastilia.
However, there is a more significant concern for them.
If it is said that these reports are accurate, then it means that their equipment cannot even see the end of the land in Beastilia using their equipment.
Telescopes that can see beyond the galaxy can not see beyond the land beneath their feet.
Does this mean that the land in Beastilia is even more significant than their Milky Way Galaxy?
And that is just the part that can be seen.
They are still unaware of how much of it is unexplored.
And what if Beastilia is a planet and spherical in shape.
In that case, the diameter of this planet will be far greater than their wildest imagination.
It can be said that today many of their wildest imaginations were broken, and new benchmarks were set.
Before today, Pearl was the biggest and the largest body of landmass they had ever seen.
Millenniums of expansion had led the Pearl to grow much more than the solar system; however, compared to Beastilia, it is still smaller than a baby.
Soon fleet commander continued his description.
"Beastilia is a world consisting of only various animal-like creatures.
"There are many creatures there that bear resemblance with animals on Earth; however, each animal has some special ability upon a detailed inspection."
"Some of them might even have multiple."
"For example, Mophis, who looks like a bird from Earth, is similar to a giant Eagle from Earth."
"His race is called Porte on Beastilia."
"Almost every member of his family will awaken the ability to open portals."
"However, Mophis is the strongest among his family as his portals can access the world outside of Beastilia."
"Occasionally in every family, there might be the appearance of mutants who do not awaken the family ability."
"There has not been any reason for this on Beastilia; however, it has been believed that every child who does not awaken the family ability is special."
