It has been a few days since Caleb got his pokemon egg.
He was getting impatient. Christian and Korinne's egg had already hatched yesterday and it was only his Magby that was left, still haven't gotten out of it's shell.
According to his father, it would hatch soon. And it is, as Caleb was interupted in his sleep for a couple of nights because his egg was occasionally shining, indicating that it would soon hatch.
Caleb and his cousins made an agreement between themselves that they would visit the Breeding Center to have their Pokemons conduct test to gauge their potential as soon as all three hatched. It was only his Magby that was left, Caleb didn't like having people wait for him so he would sometimes whisper some words of encouragement to the egg.
Inside his room, Caleb was sitting on his bed, infront of him was his pokemon egg placed closely near him inside an incubator.
The egg was shining ever so brightly than before. Caleb watched with excitement and bathed breath as he could feel it would soon reveal it's form and break out of it's shell.
'Come on. Come on. Come on!'
He had wanted to inform his parents about his egg's activity but, unfortunately they were not present and have been very busy lately.
His ears perked up as he heared cracking sounds. He watched with amazement, the eagg was cracking from the top, keeping his silence as the crack widened and some shells fell on to the bed.
After a few seconds, a pokemon came out of it, revealing Magby.
He waited eagerly and watched as the pokemon completely came out. Caleb was momentarily shocked as he felt the temperature in the room rise.
His egg finally hatched!
Magby stood up then sat down, shaking off the shells that was on top of it. It looked around curiously before it's eyes fell on Caleb. It tiled it's head and called out.
"Mag, Magby?"
"Hello Magby. I'm Caleb, your pokemon trainer." Caleb nervously introduce himself. He don't have a clue to what was in Magby's mind.
Magby niffed at Caleb with his beak like nose. Then, it relaxed it's body then walked slowly to him and cuddle slowly on his embrace.
Caleb wore a surprise expression, then it morphed into happiness, he wore a smile. He was literally still excited felt by the still shaking of his hands.
This was how they first met officially, Caleb cherished this moment as he thought.
Their jovial interaction was interrupt by a growl of hunger. Caleb looked down to see his pokemon looking back with a teary smile while rubbing it's stomach.
Caleb got the hint and was lucky enough to have stored the Milk from a Milktank and some berries inside his closet, given by his parents. He then immediately gave the milk to his Magby.
Magby purred contently as it enjoyed it's first meal.
...
6 Days Later.
"Are you ready, Caleb?" Caleb's father ask the overly enthusiastic kid infront of him.
"As ready as I can ever be, Dad!" Caleb returned without missing a beat. He was standing there, dressed up and with a backpack.
Today was now the first day of school and the first year for Caleb. It wasn't easy to become a student in any Pokemon Training School. Since the first requirement to attend it was to past the entrance test, that mainly composed of theoritical and practical exams. After passing the exam was a physical examination, every kid with dreams to become a trainer was required to train their bodily foundation, having a built constitution honed by training and sparring was a must if one wanted to journey, preparing and expecting for dangers that was a regular basis, so with combat skills is also very important when defending against those.
The final requirement after these two was to have a pokemon, even if it is a common one, it is a must to have so one can guaranteed to be enrolled in a pokemon trainer school.
Unfortunately, some couldn't afford to buy Pokemons that were tamed in a pokemon center. It costs a hell lot of money, an average household would need to live frugally for months if a member of their family was to become a trainer. It isn't that easy for average households, much more would the poor, they would find it very difficult.
Of course they could always catch one on their own, however, the cost is too much for it to be certficated to a person, almost as high as a common pokemon sold in the market. Additionally, there are dangers pokemon lurking anywhere, so catching one on their own have their dangers.
"Ready to go, Magby?" Hefting his backpack on his back, he turned towards the little fire-type that was right beside him.
"Mag." Magby emphasized, it's crimson fur glistening from the sunlight as if it were absorbing them.
"Very well, don't forget your class is A-1 classroom okay?" His mother reminded from the front seat.
"I know mom, I'll be going now." Caleb waved his parents as he walked in to the gate, he saw them off as he watched drove away.
Caleb walked casually in the campus. Today was the first day for school for him, but not the first. He almost was about to graduate in his past life before COVID killed him.
It was nice to see school buildings such as this, he reminisce his past life and began to miss everything 'bout it.
He shook his head and began clearing his head with this thoughts. 'It's not time to be sad, I gotta live this life to the fullest since I died young in my past.'
Magby noticed the strange act his person was doing. He pulled the corner of his pants and said. "Magby?"
"It's nothing partner. Let's go? We gotta go find our classroom."
"Mag."
They then began searching and eventually found it after asking a janitor.
There were plenty students in the hallway, that was around his age alongside them was their pokemon. They entered a room after passing through the crowd and saw the sign beside the classroom.
Seeing that it was already half full, Caleb found a seat at the back and sat down on it.
He looked around. Sitting beside him was a girl with short light brown hair that is designed in a somewhat star pattern with front bangs standing up, light blue eyes and adorable flushed cheeks.
It seems that the kid sensed his gaze, as she turned her head to stare at him.
Caleb calmly smiled while finding this girl familiar, but he couldn't get his finger on it. He introduced himself. "Hi! My name's Caleb Laurent."
The girl was returned the greeting and smile. "My name is Diantha Carnotion, nice to meet you."
