Alex and Professor Oak were standing side by side, looking at the 3 enormous eggs glowing frequently.
The Lapras eggs that Alex had gotten were about to hatch. The proper nutritional fluid was used during incubation, and Moomoo milk for after their birth and Pokemon food for subsequent feeding were prepared.
"So Alex, we can't be sure of the sex of these Lapras eggs now. But after hatching, if it exists, I hope you leave a male and female pair for the lab" said Professor Oak, eyes glued towards the egg.
"Of course Professor" replied Alex.
"And don't give the NeverMeltIce to Lapras before its strength raised to a certain level of strength. It will be detrimental to its development" said the Professor.
"Yes Professor" said Alex.
"Speaking of which, have you given the Charcoal you got in exchange for your other piece of NeverMeltIce to your Charmander?" asked the Professor.
"No Professor. I gave it an Everstone as it has reached the minimum level of evolution" said Alex.
Pokemon could only hold one item. Even if you made dozens of bracelets and necklaces and hung a bunch of items onto a Pokemon, the effects of most of them will cancel out, leaving the effects of one item. The item that would take effect is determined by the quality of the items themselves.
As they were speaking, one of the eggs had an audible cracking sound. Then a different egg produced the sound, followed by the third.
The first egg broke apart eventually, and a pale blue head with a single horn popped out. It then proceeded to struggle free of its shell and eat the pieces. Subsequently, the other two followed suit. Alex checked the stats of the first one out.
Lapras
Gender - Female
Lvl - 1
Type - Water/Ice
Held item - None
Ability - Hydration
Moves - Growl, Water Gun, Ancient Power
Nature - Bashful
Training - None
Potential - Indigo
Alex also checked out the other two. One was a male and a female, both with blue potential.
"Professor, I will take the first one out" said Alex.
The Professor scanned all three of them using a pre-arranged machine above them and said, "Alright. You should take it aside and feed it to establish a bond before capturing it.
Alex nodded, and went up to his Lapras. It was half the size of an average Lapras, and for the next month it would eat a lot and keep growing, until it reached close to the average size for their species.
" Hello Lapras, I am your trainer from now on. Are you hungry? Here, drink some Moomoo milk" said Alex gently. The Lapras species had a gift for sounds, and could understand humans right from birth. Alex carefully spoke with it to gain its trust as he fed it while stroking its head.
Lapras fell asleep after a while, and Alex captured it with a Pokeball. The Professor had already taken the other two Lapras to a pond in the ranch.
Alex decided to release Lapras in the newly constructed poll in his backyard.
After he went home, he released Charmander and Magnemite also. Charmander was now at the bottle neck of level 20, while Magnemite was at the bottle neck of level 30.
Magnemite would evolve at level 30 as he remembered from his previous life, thus he removed the Magnet it had been holding and gave it an Everstone instead, so that it wouldn't evolve before fully training.
He then released the sleeping Lapras next to the pool, and introduced his two Pokemon and Beldum to it.
He opened the notebook he had been jotting down ideas in over the last few days. He read through it once more, and circled two projects he would work on. Eeveelutions and the Nature Table.
Only three Eevelutions were definitely known. Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon were all popular Pokemon that everyone knew how to evolve. Leafeon and Glaceon were rare Pokemon that had been spotted and captured, but no one knew for sure was an Eevelution.
Umbreon and Espeon were understood as Eevelutions, but no one knew for sure how they evolved. Sylveon was completely unknown. So finding and detailing the methods for all the Eevelutions using what he knew from his previous life was one of his selected projects.
The Nature Table was unknown here. Researchers had observed that two Pokemon with nearly identical levels and power would sometimes have a difference in Physical Attack, Special Attack, or Speed, Defence or Special Defence. This was considered as a random natural talent rather than having a specific pattern. By knowing the Nature Table from his previous life, all Alex had to do was to determine that the Nature Table held true beyond a reasonable doubt, and then release the Nature Table and the Berry determination method.
"Well, I have a lot of work to do" thought Alex as he turned off the light and went to sleep.
