Adrian could see Nick's point. He could either get out of this situation before it got worse for him, or he could drive Russell away. The former seemed like the logical choice. But can he just leave Johan in Russell's hands when an opportunity to do the latter already presented itself?

Besides, he needed the distraction, too.

His grip around Nick's elbow tightened as he weighed his options. After a moment of clashing logic and emotions, Adrian shook his head, letting go of Nick. "No. I appreciate you trying to help, dude, but this isn't right."

Even back at home, he didn't want anyone prying on his stuff, and that's from him who had nothing to hide anymore. His sexuality had come into light. His affair with Johan had been exposed, too. If he poked his nose where it didn't belong any further, Johan might kick him out, and he didn't want that.
