บท 21: Chapter 24: Z-Type Drive, the Device that Rewinds Time
Another day has passed, and Lin Feng and Caitlyn woke up at the same time.
Time was pressing; there was no room for delay.
After checking out, Lin Feng and Caitlyn headed straight for the Wildfire Gang's territory.
In just thirty minutes, Lin Feng found himself once again under that lush, sprawling tree.
The members of the Wildfire Gang recognized Lin Feng and Caitlyn, and since Heimerdinger had given them a heads-up in advance, they didn't waste much time getting Lin Feng to Heimerdinger's place.
*Dong dong.* Lin Feng knocked twice on the door:
"Professor Heimerdinger, are you in?"
No one answered.
Lin Feng pushed the door open and saw Heimerdinger and Ekko inside.
At that moment, both of them were fast asleep on stools. Heimerdinger's little poro perked up at the sound, blinked its eyes, and immediately jumped into Caitlyn's arms.
Lin Feng approached Heimerdinger and, just then, he noticed something.
**Z-Type Drive Resonator.**
On the workbench behind the table, the Z-Type Drive resonator was emitting a faint blue light.
It resembled a gas canister but could also be considered an oversized scroll.
This blue light was not the typical magical glow emitted by regular Hextech; it was scattered and flickering.
It looked like shards of magic, with magical energy pulsating in geometrical patterns rather than the runic sequences Lin Feng was accustomed to.
This was something beyond Hextech; this force could manipulate the powers of time and space.
"Professor."
Lin Feng tapped Heimerdinger on the shoulder.
"!!!!" Heimerdinger jumped up suddenly, startled,
"What happened? Did the experiment fail?"
Only when he recognized Lin Feng's face did Heimerdinger exhale with relief,
"Child, you've arrived."
Lin Feng nodded, and his voice stirred the sleeping Ekko.
Upon seeing Lin Feng and Caitlyn, Ekko adopted his usual cold expression again, as if he was about to kick them out, but Lin Feng still found the sleeping Ekko more endearing.
However, seeing the haggard appearance of Ekko and Heimerdinger, Lin Feng understood that both had worked incredibly hard to create this prototype in just two days.
Lin Feng looked directly at Ekko, his expression solemn,
"Ekko, thank you."
Ekko paused for a moment, grunted, then immediately got up and left the room.
"Ekko!" Heimerdinger called out, but Ekko had already closed the door. Heimerdinger could only sigh,
"Ah, Ekko is a good kid... You mustn't hold any grievances against him. He admires your inventions very much; he just..."
"Professor, I understand." Lin Feng replied,
"Professor, you've worked hard too. We brought some food for you; I hope it's not too little."
Opening his backpack, Lin Feng revealed some food he had taken from the mainland hotel.
There wasn't much, but it was enough for two meals.
Heimerdinger nodded appreciatively, and the conversation shifted back to the Z-Type Drive resonator.
"This is the prototype you wanted... I didn't expect it to be so beautiful."
The three of them focused their attention on the glowing Z-Type Drive device.
Indeed, as Heimerdinger had said, it was stunning.
It was as beautiful as a piece of art; anyone who saw it would want to possess it.
Lin Feng picked up the Z-Type Drive resonator.
"Be careful; it's still just a prototype."
Lin Feng nodded and used both hands to lift it.
The device felt much lighter than he had expected.
Despite its large size, it weighed no more than a few books.
The weight of the Uru metal is inherently light, and it's filled with magical energy.
And magic, in itself, is as light as air, virtually weightless.
Heimerdinger watched as Lin Feng slowly lifted the Z-Type Drive resonator, unable to contain a smile; creating such technology, even with someone else's blueprints, gave him an immense sense of achievement.
"The metal you gave me... it has incredible capabilities." Heimerdinger began to explain the details of his experiment,
"It's almost indestructible; not only is it lightweight, but it also has a kind of... affinity for magic!"
"I know." Lin Feng's eyes were still fixed on the Z-Type Drive.
Heimerdinger paused, tentatively asking,
"If this metal..."
"I'm sorry, Professor, but there's only this much metal."
Lin Feng's response made Heimerdinger sigh, feeling somewhat disheartened.
"However... I can get a bit more of this metal. You can make a Z-Type Drive for Ekko as well."
Heimerdinger looked up at Lin Feng, who seemed to be in high spirits, slowly revealing a smile.
With 50 gold coins, Lin Feng couldn't spend them in bulk, but occasionally spending a bit was no problem.
Ekko and Jinx weren't too different; it could be said they both grew up playing in the mud, and their sharp tongues but soft hearts were their norm.
Lin Feng understood the complexity of Ekko's dedication to creating the Z-Type Drive; whether it was gratitude or resentment was clear to him.

Making a Z-Type Drive for Ekko was just a matter of going with the flow.
Lin Feng secured the Z-Type Drive behind him; using it was also exceptionally simple—just press the button on the device.
"Let me give it a try; it might be dangerous. Caitlyn, you should step outside."
Lin Feng said.
Curious as she was, Caitlyn stepped out of the room.
Even though Lin Feng had prepared himself for anything, Heimerdinger couldn't help but add a couple more words,
"This is a prototype... you must be careful!"
"Professor, I will."
Lin Feng replied with a smile.
Once everything was ready, Lin Feng began the first test.
The method of testing was straightforward.
The Z-Type Drive transformation was a device that could rewind time.
Heimerdinger placed a special part in the room, and Lin Feng's task was to find it within ten seconds.
Ten seconds might have seemed like an impossible task under normal circumstances.
But with the Z-Type Drive, everything for Lin Feng was merely another option after a replay.
On his first attempt, Lin Feng couldn't find it.
He pressed the button on the Z-Type Drive.
In an instant, an indescribable tearing sensation surged before Lin Feng's eyes.
Everything in front of him seemed to speed back like a fast-forwarded video; it felt like he was in a sports car, a strong push from his chest brought mild discomfort.
When the time elapsed, Lin Feng returned to the state he was in ten seconds earlier.
Heimerdinger had just said,
"This is a prototype... you must be careful!"
On his second, third attempts... Lin Feng gradually established a connection with the Z-Type Drive; the tearing and discomfort he felt each time began to diminish.
He had a feeling that this device was evolving, and the energy within was stabilizing more and more.
By the fifth attempt, Lin Feng found the part.
Pressing the button again, he returned to the state from ten seconds ago.
Heimerdinger still said:
"This is a prototype... you must be careful!"
But this time, Lin Feng only smiled faintly and walked straight toward a direction, opened a drawer, and took out the uniquely shaped special part.
