Private Island has the status of a nature reserve, is a habitat for rare trees, but many of which have been logged illegally. Currently what remains are mostly shrubs, nipah and shrubs. Plahlar wood, which can only be found on this island, is often stolen because after drying, it has the same quality as meranti wood from Kalimantan.
Traditionally, the successor to the dynasty of the Adhyaksa Sultanate often performed rituals on this island and made it a "ritual forest". In the western part of the island, in a cave located in a mangrove forest area, there is a kind of inscription left by the ancestors of the Adhyaksa Sultanate. At the eastern end, on a rocky hill, stands a lighthouse and a small Dutch fort. Various kinds of plants typical of Javanese cultural rituals are planted here. Kusuma Island is recorded as the last defense of the true Wijayakusuma plant. This is where the name of this island comes from.
