In fact, the current situation aligned with the Marine's expectations. From the very beginning, they had contemplated a 2v1 scenario, relying on their numerical advantage for victory. Now, it was indeed a 2 vs. 1 situation, but with the Black Dragon and Garp taking on Akainu.
"Are you alright, Sakazuki?" Garp looked at Akainu with concern, noting his pallid complexion and asked, "Are you hurt? You look quite grim."
"Did you do this intentionally?" Akainu suppressed his anger, knowing that losing his temper could lead to civil strife between him and Garp. Moreover, killing the Black Dragon was unlikely; he might end up captured and auctioned as a slave.
Garp, baffled, stared at him and then rubbed his stomach, explaining, "Doflamingo's blow genuinely hurt me. I fell into the sea. If I hadn't broken free and swum back with all my strength, I might have drowned."
"Sakazuki, you focus on your task; let me handle Doflamingo!"
"Shave!"
Garp disappeared in an instant, commencing another round of collaboration with Doflamingo.
Angrily, Akainu grinned back. He didn't need Garp's assistance to deal with Doflamingo. "What about your big move?" The Black Dragon taunted. He laughed heartily, "The Marine Admiral's tricks are quite enigmatic and unpredictable. Truth be told, I haven't seen where they're so powerful!"
Panting heavily after enduring humiliation, Akainu retorted, "Don't get too smug. Even if Garp gets in the way, I won't go easy on you!"
With a forceful arm thrust, a magma hound leaped forth, entirely composed of fire. Its sharp, searing jaws seemed to pose a fatal threat.
"Using something like this against me? Is your head filled with nonsense?" The Black Dragon flapped his wings vigorously, creating a storm that swept buildings into the distance. The magma hound quickly cooled, turning from crimson to a motionless black sculpture.
Seeing this, Akainu activated his magma-powered legs like a rocket booster, propelling himself toward the Black Dragon.
"Dark Hound!"
BOOM!
Magma erupted close to the Black Dragon's face, enveloping his head in searing heat, reducing it to smoke.
Even Whitebeard couldn't have endured such a blow and was brutally disemboweled by Akainu.
"Hahaha... You're finished!" Akainu grinned, confident in the might of his attack.
Garp, meanwhile, harbored secret worries. Who would come to the aid of his beloved grandson Luffy if something happened?
"No, I must find a way to support him," Garp resolved, pondering his next move.
"Come at me again!"
Seizing the moment, Akainu prepared to unleash another assault. However, a sudden black shadow struck him.
BOOM!
Akainu took such a brutal blow that his stomach caved in, causing his back to jut out painfully. The colossal attack abruptly terminated his big move, forcing him to vomit a mouthful of blood on the spot. He was sent hurtling hundreds of meters by the enigmatic black shadow.
"What on earth...?" The Black Dragon shook his head, dispersing the magma above him. Although many dragon scales were scorched, most of the power had been offset. The attack's lethality was limited and incapable of delivering a fatal blow. Akainu, however, writhed in agony on the ground, rolling over and over.
He clutched his stomach with trembling hands, his pained visage grotesquely contorted. Then, he saw the figure beside him—it was Garp!
Indeed, the hard object that struck him earlier was Garp's head.
"Sakazuki, Doflamingo is formidable, he is just too strong. He knocked me out of the air with a single punch, and even you were gravely injured," Garp stated seriously. "Doflamingo is no weaker than a Marine Admiral, perhaps even stronger."
"????" Doflamingo raised an eyebrow, utterly baffled. He knew he hadn't done anything special just now, so why did Garp suddenly go flying and then lay the blame on him?
Akainu stood up shakily, his eyes filled with rage and a palpable air of impending destruction emanating from his being. Before the battle began, he had believed that even if he couldn't kill the Black Dragon, he could at least injure him and shatter his arrogant pride. Nobody would've expected that his arrogance would be the one to be shattered... And it was Garp! His ally was the one that struck the first blow against that arrogance, shattering it completely.
This was beyond what words could describe—Akainu was now convinced that Garp was the mole secretly inserted into the Marines by the Black Dragon.
"It's time to put an end to this," the Black Dragon remarked as he gazed at the sky. "I'll try this little trick to get you," With a rush, he ascended, preparing to unleash his technique.
His mouth opened wide, black energy coalescing, and the same usual 'roar of the Black Dragon' echoed, but the flavor had changed. Within that dark power, he incorporated Armament Haki and Conqueror's Haki, greatly enhancing his power.
Naturally, Akainu was not one to concede defeat easily. He thrust forth a massive magma arm, invoking "Great Eruption." This magma arm, hundreds of meters in diameter, was a spectacular display of power. It evaporated all the moisture in the atmosphere, rendering the environment exceptionally dry.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Batches of magma rained down like a waterfall, colliding with the black-red light beam. The colossal magma fist took a blow to the head, and its massive form quickly crumbled and disintegrated until it vanished.
Meanwhile, the lethal black light enshrouded Akainu's body. His eyes widened in shock. "No—BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!!"
Akainu and the land beneath him were consumed, resulting in an unprecedented explosion that swept Dressrosa into chaos, causing the country to fall apart. A colossal crater, several kilometers in diameter, was blasted into the ground.
Within the charred crater, Akainu lay, barely hanging onto consciousness.
