บท 39: Chapter thirty nine- Hippo Bazooka

The rest of the day and half of the next seemed to go by much slowly for all on board the ship as everyone was worrying about Nami. Gabriel had started to standing at the front of the ship at all times keeping a watch for any island in the distance while keeping an eye on the small mini map in the lower corner of his vision for any bad weather.

He was nervous that maybe he had changed one to many things and that they were no where near Drum island at all, but his worry had started to lessen in the past hour as the weather had started to snow so found himself hoping that they were still on course and would find the island soon.

"Captain!" Makita yelled from the crow's nest where she and Usopp were on watch.

"Yes!", "Yes" Gabriel and Luffy sounded at the same time, both looked at each other and blinked before Luffy chuckled slightly and Gabriel shook his head.

"What is it Mikita, see something?" Gabriel asked after a moment.

Mikita nodded, "yes but I'm not sure what to make of it, it's a man just standing there"

"on an island?" Luffy asked excitedly.

Mikita shook her head, "no he's just standing on the water" she said and pointed ahead of the ship and off to the side a little.

Gabriel frowned when he heard that and racked his brain for a moment to remember canon events before it finally clicked, "I see," 'so we're close then, thank fuck for that'

Usopp pulled down his goggles and looked in the direction she was pointing, "she's right, he's just standing there, what the hell"

Everyone out and about went over to the side of the ship to look as they got closer and sure enough there was a strangely dressed man standing atop the water.

Gabriel didn't bother to look and rested his hand on his sword knowing what was coming.

Sure enough seconds later the Merry was rocked back as the massive submerged ship began to breach the water surface revealing its Iron shell and body, seconds later the mouth of the ships figure head opened up and a gangway extended to the going merry followed by dozens of soldiers with guns.

They were surrounded in seconds, but Gabriel didn't wait for anyone to start talking and drew his swords disappearing in a blur of soru and in less than five seconds every soldier was disarmed and knocked out as Gabriel reappeared sheathing his blades

Gabriel dismissed the notification just as someone yelled.

"How dare you attack my men!"

Gabriel turned to see the loudmouth himself coming down the deck towards the going Merry. Gabriel looked at him like he was an idiot.

"You send your men to board a pirate ship while armed and expect not to be attacked in return, what kind of idiot are you?" Gabriel stated as the others nodded.

That seemed to piss off the fatty more, "Grrr that dose it, I was going to be peaceful about this but now you've made me angry!" he yelled as he reached the ship and opened his mouth excessively wide going to bite Gabriel.

Gabriel rolled his eyes, "too weak" he said before blurring away with Soru appearing again when he closed his mouth with a crunch.

Gabriel looked to Luffy, "hey you want to send this fatty flying, we're running out of time here and we need to get going"

Luffy nodded not needing any more to be said as he threw back his arms and rushed at the intruder.

"You want a piece of me to!" the tubby yelled and went to open his mouth but before he could Luffy's arms came back in fast and caught him in his gut.

"Gum Gum Bazooka!" and launched the fatty skyward and out to sea.

The Soldiers still on the larger ship gawked for a few moments before they started running around in a hurry, others boarded the Merry in a hurry to collect their downed men and ran back to the ship as the gangway retracted and they started to sail after the fatty shouting threats back at the going merry as they went.

"what a bunch of idiots" Gabriel shook his head as he watched them sail off before looking back up to Mikita and Usopp, "hey keep an eye on the horizon, we should be getting close by now"

"Got it!" "Will do captain!" the pair replied as they resumed watch.

The door to the cabin opened and Vivi looked out, "did something happen?" she asked worried when the ship had stated rocking.

"just some idiots playing at being pirates, nothing to worry about" Gabriel called to her getting a nod before she went back into the cabin.

It was another full day before they finally spotted the promising silhouette on the horizon of an island. Gabriel let out a sigh of relief after looking at the familiar outline, it was drum kingdom alright, finally they had arrived, Nami would be fine he was sure now.

But as soon as he thought that a mission screen came up and he blinked at he read it.

Quest: Doctor Doctor

Goals:

Get Nami to a doctor as quick as you can

Don't stop to fight any Lapahn

Reward: 800AP, ???, ???

Failure: Death of Nami

Gabriel stared at the mission screen at the very bottom line for several seconds, this was the first time a mission quest had given him that notification of failure before, and there wasn't any option for him to accept or decline the quest at all, which meant that he couldn't leave this task up to Luffy to handle.

The thought had crossed his mind to do so back on Whiskey peak but now at this point after he had already unlocked Geppo he knew that doing so would be pointless when he could easily carry her up the mountain. But something seemed off to him.

Three rewards and such a high amount of AP as one of them clearly indicated that the quest wasn't going to be as easily as he believed it to be, but it wasn't like he had much of a choice in matters, as it stood all he could do was wait until they reached land and then take things from there.
