บท 8: Chapter eight- dealing with a rodent problem
It took them a while to get back to Arlong park and by the time they got there things seemed to be quiet with everyone looking up at the top floor of the building.
"Oi how are things going, is Luffy finished kicking that fish bastards ass or what" Gabriel called as he and Usopp came walking back.
The villagers looked at him and Usopp in amazement while Sanji smirked letting out a cloud of smoke. "Yeah just wrapping things up here, you guys sure took your time"
Gabriel shook his head, "Na that guy was easy once he held still long enough, but he just did not stop running, that's what kept us"
Zoro chuckled from his spot on the ground leaning against the wall while the village doctor checked him over, "either you two hurt?"
Gabriel shook his head, "na, just a little tired from all the running, nothing a drink or two and a good nap won't fix, you look pretty bad though"
Zoro shook his head, "na, had these from before we even got here, I'll be fine"
"Not if you don't hold still you won't be, honestly I don't know what you were thinking fighting with injuries like these" Nako, the doctor, scolded as he tended to his wounds while shaking his head.
"Best listen to the doc Zoro," Gabriel told him before walking over to stand between Nami and Sanji, "I take it the captain's up on the top floor through that broken window?" He asked just before the wall next to the window broke and a drawing desk came crashing out of it already half broken and came crashing to the ground, "I'll take that as a yes"
Over the next minute everyone watched on as more furniture came breaking out of the walls of the top floor. Gabriel knew what the reason was and glanced to the side to see tears streaming down Namis face as she covered her mouth to keep herself from crying to loudly.
Gabriel looked away, he didn't want to intrude on her moment and looked back up just as Luffy's leg broke through the top of the building and kept stretching high up into the sky before coming crashing back down hard bringing Arlong with it and slamming him through the building to the ground floor.
"Damn what a hit" Gabriel commented as the ground shook from the impact and the top most roof of the building broke off and fell to the ground in a loud crash.
Everyone was silent before crashing sounds were heard and cracks began to appear on the walls of the building, everyone knew instantly what was happening.
"Get clear," "it's gonna come down," "take cover!"
Multiple civilians yelled as people began to run away from the compound.
Gabriel frowned and moved off to the side putting his back to the wall rather than running away as he listens to the sounds of the building collapsing. The act sent up a huge dust cloud of debris and rubble in all directions but the walls of the compound stopped the most of it.
Stepping out from cover after a few second Gabriel squinted through the dust that was settling to see the mound of rubble that had been Arlong Park, that by now Arlong was buried underneath.
Everyone was silent as the dust cleared complete revealing the ruins of Arlong park, everyone looked on with uncertainty clear on their faces but Gabriel who stood with his arms cross watching on.
Seconds ticked by before finally the sound of rubble moving could be heard and Luffy stood up from among the debris looking beat up and battered but nonetheless alive and it was clear to everyone just who had won.
Gabriel smirked at the sight and nodded his head knowingly as Luffy took in a deep breath before calling out.
"Nami!!!! You will always be my Nakama!!!"
Nami with tears in her eyes and a wobbly smile nodded her head at his words.
And in the seconds that followed those words the villagers realised what this meant and cheers began to ring out as people jumped and cried out in joy that arlong park had fallen and the fishmen were beaten, but most of all that their eight years of nightmares under them had finally ended.
It only took a few seconds for the villagers to crowd around Luffy as he was climbing down from the rubble and began to throw him into the air chanting his name in celebration for what he had done.
Gabriel smirked at the scene and clapped happily for him to be praised he knew he really hadn't done much in the large scale of things this time but planned to change that in the next big fight they came to.
Finally after a few minutes Luffy managed to get down from being tossed around and Nami put his hat back on him giving him a smile as the two of them exchanged a high five between them while everyone watched on.
That was when the sound of guns being cocked broke the silence and everyone turned to see a dozen marines holding rifles aimed had shown up with Nezumi the Rat captain standing at the front.
"Alright everyone hold it right there, I saw the whole thing and I must admit that I'm impressed, I can only assume that it must have been…" Nezumi started to say only to be shut up when a rock came hurtling through the air and smacked him clean in the face knocking him on his ass.
"Piss off already you're ruining the mood" Gabriel states from his spot holding another small rock in his right hand.
"How dare you, do you know who I" Nezumi yelled at him only for a second rock to come flying at him to crack him across the face again knocking him flat on his back this time.
"Don't care, all I know is I don't like you not beat it" Gabriel said as he started to walk towards him and the marines who trained their guns on him.
Gabriel made sure that he had stepped off to the side so that no one was behind him as Nezumi got back to his feet.
"You'll pay for that! Open fire!" Nezumi ordered and the marines obeyed as their rifles opened up firing at him.
Gabriel didn't pause at all in his steps and let the bullets come only to pass right through him as he used his devil fruit powers.
The sight shocked the marines and make Nezumi gawk at him with his mouth open wide, only for it to slam shut when Gabriel reaches him and slammed his powered fist into his jaw breaking it and landing the rat marine flat on his back howling in pain.
All the marines backed up at the sight and Gabriel advanced on Nezumi again and pressed his right boot down on his chest pinning him there.
"Didn't you hear what I said the first time" Gabriel growled, "I said…" he added as he drew back his fist, "get lost lost!" And let his fist fall only to stop an inch from his face as Nami called out.
"Hold on!"
Gabriel paused in his attack and looked to her with an arched eyebrow as she approached, getting the idea he nodded to her and stepped back to let her speak to the rat.
Nami reaches him she knelt down in front of him her staff in one hand, "this is for shooting Nojiko, and also for what did to Belemeres tanjarine orchard" she said calmly before twisting around and slamming her staff hard into his already shattered jaw.
The marines with him snapped out of their shock and trained their guns on Nami next, the others in the crew didn't like that and within seconds the marines found themselves hopelessly beaten and just as bad a state as their commanding officer.
As Nezumi writhed on the ground in pain Nami walked over and stuck the end of her staff under his chin and pressed it against his throat making him gag as she looked down on him.
"Now what you are going to do is clean up after those fishmen, then you're going to help rebuild the town of Gosa and you're not going to lay a finger on any of the valuables in Arlong park that's the islanders money now got it" Nami asked glaring down at him.
Nezumi could only gag and nod his head in agreement to get her to take her staff from his throat to let him breath again.
"Oh and one more thing" Nami said before turning around only to turn right back to him and swung her staff like a gulf club catching his jaw once more, "give me my money back you jerk!"
Gabriel couldn't help it and he burst out laughing at the sight, Nami was a gold digger through and through and he couldn't help but give her a thumbs up in approval at her treatment of the rat bastard.
"Well not that this is all settled, what are we all waiting for, let's party!" Gabriel said with a grin and everyone cheered and started to celebrate as they made their way out of Arlong park and started to go back to the village while others started to run to the other villages to spread the news of arlong parks fall, needless to say there would be parties and celebrations all over the island tonight.
