Vreihya's P.O.V
"Ca-Calix," I mumbled as I clenched my palm on my chest. Because of my tears, my vision was entirely obscured. Those memories should have faded from my mind. "Who do you think you are to question whether Mino would be mine or not simply because I still have Calix in my head?" I retorted fiercely to the deity who was staring at me.
"You can't blame me for feeling sorry for both of us; you saw it for yourself! You know how beautiful the feelings we shared," I snarled. Everyone else will be sorry because we have something beautiful from the start. He's meant to be the one and only!
"Pathetic! You're the one pushing Calix to forget his hope that you both end up together, but you can't get this desire out of your head," she said arrogantly to me. She was always trying to squeeze my mind as if it were a game for her to see me drowning in my own emotions.
"What's the difference between Calix and Mino?" she inquired as I gradually drew myself up. I violently removed my thick coat and the fabric that covered my face. My eyes quickly lit up as I stared at her elegantly sitting on her throne.
"My feelings for Calix are entirely my own choice," I declared to the deity, who grinned even more. "Exactly!" she promised me thoughtfully. "Then why not fight for it?" she said in front of me. "That's worthless!" I instantly replied. "Besides, he's mated with someone else," I explained.
"Then there's no room for yearning for him to be the one," she replied firmly. "Is it a sin to be regret?" I said bitterly. "No, Vreihya," she said, "but if that regret is keeping you from progressing forward and accepting what is meant for you, that's a problem."
"This is my freedom we're talking about! This is my freedom to love whoever I please!" I exclaimed, but she didn't even flinch. Is it wrong to flee from something I don't want to accept?
Circa immediately stood up from her seat, and with her gesture, I knew something was about to fall on me. I instantly covered my head as I felt another glass strike and shatter on my body.
My room met me as soon as I opened my eyes. My big bedroom's bricked wall and marbled floor feel real to me. I quickly looked at my bed, which was quite large for a little girl even at my early age.
My favorite purple blanket from my childhood is nicely draped over it. As I glanced at it, I was little taken aback when a child appeared, embracing her mother and wailing loudly.
"Vreihya iha," my mother gently said, and she caressed my back gently although my small body couldn't stop crying. "You must forget Calix," mum said.
"But mother, I want him," I wailed, pressing in closer. I felt what appeared to be a figure enter my room, and uncle penetrated onto my body as he walked in. He sat quietly on my bed while my mother gazed at him with sorrow.
If I'm not mistaken, this was the day my uncle and mother told me the truth. I can still see the bandage on my stomach where the silver bullet struck. "Vreihya?" uncle called softly, and I turned to face him.
He gently spread out his arms, lifted me away from my mother, and sat me on his leg. "Does it still hurt?" he inquired softly as he examined my bandage. I nodded to him, crying, and he softly kissed my forehead.
"Uncle! I don't want to leave Calix," I sobbed again as I buried my face in his chest. This is one of the heaviest scenes for me since after this, I confronted Calix and caused him a lot of pain.
"But if you continue, Vreihya, you will both be hurt," he whispered gently, making sure I understood. At this time I could not think of anything but the harshness of fate against me. It hit me hard with the harsh reality at such a young age.
"I don't like like anyone else! I don't like humans! I don't like them!" I began to struggle with uncle, my eyes welling up with tears. The pain and dread that humans inflicted on me are still fresh, and now I discovered that they will pair me with someone of their kind.
Uncle embraced me even tighter to soothe my distress. Because of the overwhelming opposition, my emotions were quite powerful. My frustration and resentment were heightened by the fact that this was also the day I was advised to cease all relations with my friend.
"Vreihya, you will slowly accept everything," mother tried to comfort me, but I seemed to fight harder. I was aware of the pain in my wound, and when I looked at it, I noticed that the bandage was turning red. I stood up and walked away from them right away.
My younger self is by my side right now, her eyes welling up with tears. My mother couldn't look me in the eyes because she probably didn't know what to do, and uncle's eyes were full with pity.
"You don't love me!" I immediately yelled at them while clenching both my fists. "You want me to end up with a monster! You don't love me!" in my innocent voice I tried to shout those words to two people who did nothing but love me.
Mother burst into tears when she noticed my pitiful state. "I will not leave Calix!" I wheezed, tears welling up in my eyes. I was in this state when uncle approached and knelt down on the marble floor to softly embrace me.
"All right! We won't force you to leave Calix if you don't want to," uncle said quietly as he reassured me to calm down. My surroundings dimmed once more, signaling the end of this memory.
I noticed the deity sitting in her chair again. "What did you do after that, Vreihya?" she inquired, looking down at her long, beautiful fingernails. My jaw clinched quickly as I understood what I had done.
"I decided to give up my feelings for him and insist on just being friends," I replied miserably, my head down. My own emotions were overtaking me, and I bit my bottom lip once more to keep the tears at bay.
"Why did you do it?" she asked coldly, as I appeared to be becoming numb from my position. "Because I'd rather be friends than push a feeling that won't win in the end," I said weakly, like if I couldn't talk any more.
"Do you regret letting go?" she inquired, and I stared at her. "No," I said, making her smirk. "Why?" she asked, brushing her hair. "When I met the woman who was meant for Calix, I completely knew that she was more than worthy of him," I told her calmly.
"It's true that sometimes I wish it had been just Calix because I wouldn't have been battling like this if the possibility had been in our favor, but when I met that woman, I couldn't help but be delighted because I knew she was the one who deserved my friend more," I continued slowly.
I couldn't tell if the diety was mocking me or not when I heard her sluggish clapping. "Do you like the mortal?" I scowled, surprised by the abrupt turn in her topic. Entrante? Why did the topic suddenly go to that?
"No!" I exclaimed hastily, my eyes narrowing as a result of her silly laugh. "Wrong answer," she remarked slyly, straightening her clothes as if she were going somewhere.
"If you don't want him, he's mine," she replied firmly, her gaze fixed on my eyes. Entrante! What is she trying to say? Because of what she said, my eyes immediately lit up.
"Let's make a bet, princess: if you win, you're free to leave with him and that wolf, but if I win—" she abruptly stopped off her words and moved away from her seat. An antique door appeared next to her as a result of her gesture. She turned away from me to open it, but she quickly turned back and looked at me.
"-you will leave this sanctuary without a mate," she added before closing the door and walking out. Circa, you're a jerk!
