บท 32: Chapter 32: Yu Jing 2

In contrast to her previous self who talked nonstop, Yu Jing was surprisingly quiet the whole way back. As much as Qiao An wanted to know what happened to her, she did not ask. If nobody tells her about it, then maybe she should not know about it.

Jin wanted to send Qiao An right until the front door of her house, but Qiao An refused since there was Yu Jing, who will go up with her until the second floor. Usually, Jin will insist on accompanying her, but this time, he nodded in understanding, much to Qiao An's surprise.

The Shen siblings said their goodbye to Qiao An, and Yu Jing and the two ladies went up the stairs without speaking to each other. As Qiao An reached her home, Yu Jin pulled her wrist to stop.

"You did not tell me about Jin being your brother on purpose, right?" Yu Jing spoke after being silent for some time.

Qiao An was not sure where the conversation was heading, but she has some ideas. "You did not ask me."

Yu Jing felt that Qiao An did not tell her about Jin being the brother on purpose. Yu Jing talked a lot, she even hinted about Qiao An and Jin being in a relationship inside the car, but Qiao An did nothing to correct her.

Yu Jing felt wronged, and the only thing she could think of would be, Qiao An did it on purpose to humiliate her. That thought was, of course, seen by Qiao An, but she felt that she did not owe Yu Jing any explanation.

"I made a fool of myself in front of Jin and Shen Jun Shan. If you introduce Jin as your brother to me earlier, this won't happen". Yu Jing bit her lips innocently as if she was about to cry.

That's the thing with people who think highly of themselves because they knew they were beautiful. Vain people like Yu Jing felt that they could get away with everything because they are beautiful. Or they think that everything revolves around them since they are beautiful.

Qiao An was tired of having a conversation with Yu Jing in front of her house. She had the feeling that Yu Jing will not dare to speak about this in front of everyone else. Qiao An wondered if Yu Jing did that only because she thought that Qiao An was easy to bully.

Well, Yu Jing was wrong then.

Qiao An took a deep breath. "First, you did not ask me. You introduce yourself to him, and my brother did not introduce himself to you. That's his choice. Second, I don't know what happened to you, my brother, and Jun Shan, but that does not concern me as it is not my problem."

Qiao An stopped and dropped the last bomb. "And third, who do you think you are? You are questioning me like this as if I made you act like the way you did earlier. I don't know what game you are playing, but I refused to play this game with you".

Qiao An did not wait for a response from Yu Jing. She unlocked her door and entered her home, leaving a baffled Yu Jing outside.

Yu Jing, of course, took some time to realise that Qiao An just put her into her place. This would be the first time people just savagely act in response to her. Yu Jing felt the tiny seed of hatred started budding in her heart.

Yu Jing stomped her feet in anger and walked up to her house full of dissatisfaction because of Qiao An.

Jin was still in the parking lot of Qiao An's apartment complex, having a lot of thought. Jin thought that he must be stupid if he did not know what Yu Jing tried to do. Or at least, he had some idea of what Yu Jing was trying to achieve. Since the thing with Cleo, Jin had the impression that some beautiful ladies are very cunning.

From the way Yu Jing's eyes swaying between Shen Jun Shan and him, Jin knew something was indeed wrong with Yu Jing. Having thought about two men at the same time is very hateful.

JIn speculated that Yu Jing might be thinking that she could try both men. If it was not going well with one, she could always go to the other one. Treating someone like an option is the worst thing that could ever happen in a relationship.

Thinking of a cunning beautiful woman, right at that time, his phone vibrated, and it was a message from Cleo, telling him to rest early and that she loves him.

After thinking for some time, Jin decided to give Cleo a call.

Cleo answered the phone call excitedly. "Hello, baby. I miss you so much".

"Cleo…"

From the way Jin called her name, it sounded so distant, so Cleo felt that something was wrong. She knew something was wrong with their relationship for quite some time already, but she refused to acknowledge it.

"You must be busy. Do your work first. I'm going to finish memorising the script. I'll talk to you tomorrow when…" Cleo attempted to run away from the situation. She was afraid something would happen if they continued speaking.

"I want to talk to you about something." Jin was calm.

"How about tomorrow? We'll talk tomorrow". Cleo knew for sure that what Jin wanted to talk with her was not something good.

"No. we need to talk about this now. By now, you must know what I want to talk about" When Cleo wanted to run away from their conversation, Jin felt helpless.

Jin checked left and right to see a sign of people, but he did not see any, so he went out of his car to get fresh air so that his mind remained clear when he talked with Cleo.

"Tang Jin, do you love me?" Cleo knew she could not get away with it anymore, but she refused to go down without doing anything. So, she desperately tried to hang on to whatever thread left to bind her and Jin.

"You are a smart woman. You probably know what my answer is. Cleo, let's break up".

The person on the other end of the phone whimpered, wept, and fussed. She even cursed like a madwoman towards Jin, but Jin hardened his heart, thinking that this would be the best outcome for the two of them.

"Cleo, goodbye'.

Jin hung up on Cleo and took a deep breath as if a huge burned had been lifted from his heart. He turned around to enter his car, and he saw Amy was looking at him without any expression. From her face, Jin deduced that she might have heard him breaking up with Cleo.

"It's kind of embarrassing to let you hear such a thing." Jin put his hand in his pant's pocket. "I might need to trouble you to forget everything you have heard." Jin smiled awkwardly towards Amy.

Amy raised her hand to show the packet of kibbles on her right hand. "I am feeding Snowy and Orange."

Amy said nothing about the phone call, so Jin followed her to the corner where they feed the cat together.

As they crouched together watching the kittens eating the kibbles happily, Amy suddenly spoke. "Brother Jin, haven't you heard? The decision made at night is unreliable".

Noticing that Amy Shen talked about his phone call earlier, he smiled sadly.

"Once you know better, you do better." Jin petted the ginger kitten. Surprisingly, the kitten did not run away this time.

Both of them were quiet, leaving only the meowing sound of kittens in the silent night.

A few minutes earlier.

Amy Shen had a new kibble for the kittens to try. She hummed as she thought how happy the kittens would be when they tried the new flavour.

As she reached the ground floor, she heard a faint male voice talking alone. Amy Shen knew that she should not eavesdrop on others' conversation, but since she was there, she figured out that she was too lazy to go somewhere else.

Amy Shen saw Jin's back, and her curiosity perked up, but she knew better than to eavesdrop on a friend. She stepped back, but still, she could hear some fragments from Jin's side.

"You are a smart woman. You probably know what my answer is. Cleo, let's break up".

"Cleo, goodbye'.

When Amy realised that she just heard a breakup conversation, she felt even guiltier. She felt as if she was peeking through people's privacy.

Indeed, nothing is sadder than a withered heart, and, in this world, the hardest thing to decipher is a person's heart.
