The strong light of the lantern cast long wavering shadows on the walls of the Prison Dungeon. Haruno Sakura stood silently by the door, her back pressed against the cold wall, her hands clenched tightly around her chest. Her usual calm and gentle demeanor had gone, replaced by a quiet, tight depression that twisted her stomach into knots.
Ibuki, a brilliant and tough interrogator/ Torture Specialist Shinobi, was already in the room sitting opposite the traitor spy who was leaking the village information to the Snow Crystal Village. He was known for being cruel, for taking the truth out without mercy. The traitor sat in an easy chair, his hands cuffed to his arms, his head hanging low. The traitor is sealed from using any kind of Jutsu with the help of cursed Seal signs around his body.
Ibuki cleared his throat, his voice cutting through the silence like an arrow. "Let's start. Who are you working for?"
The spy looked up, eyes twitching hard but only slightly. "Why should I tell you? Good Luck getting it out of my mouth."
A small, cold smile hit the corner of Ibuki's face. "It wasn't the answer I expected. Maybe we should make you… reconsider."
He pulled out a small bottle with dark, thick contents. He poured some mysterious liquid on the spy's forearm. At first, nothing happened, but then suddenly his skin began to blister and red marks swelled as if his skin had been set on fire. The traitor gritted his teeth, trying not to scream.
[ Endervan is a chakra cover liquid made of various poisonous herbs by medical shinobis. This liquid is used to torture enemy shinobi. It may look like a normal liquid but the pain it causes is immeasurable. When this liquid is poured on the human's skin, it penetrates and starts to attack the chakra points near the poured area. It bursts the chakra points it comes in contact with causing immense pain. ]
To Sakura, every second felt like an eternity. Her feelings screamed at her to look elsewhere, but she forced herself to look, and her heart beat faster each time. She felt a deep sense of doubt sink into her, creeping through her bones, tainting her innocence.
In the small room, muffled groans from the spy merged with a crackling of torches on the walls. Sakura was breathing short, with uneven gaps. Every muscle in her screamed at her to step in and stop this madness, but her stubbornness to become a better shinobi kept her in place.
She tried to keep her focus on anything but the scene before her: cold stone beneath her feet, a flicker of the torchlight, faint metallic scent of blood now hanging in the air. And still, she was irresistibly drawn back to the spy. His face twisted in pain, lips quivering as if caught between curses and pleas.
Ibuki took a step closer, making his voice gentle, almost chatty as if they were talking about the weather. "Pain is an astonishing thing. It reveals truths that the mouth would not dare speak. Do you know why I'm using this technique?" He stooped forward to meet the spy's eyes. "Because it is subtle. It won't kill you, but it'll make you wish for death. Every chakra point in your body becomes a traitor, putting you on display. Now tell me—who is your handler?
Sakura clenched her fists tight, nails piercing into the palms of her hands. The compression in her throat she swallowed down. She repeated, "You have to be strong. It's necessary.".
But when the spy spat blood on the ground, a feeble yet defiant gesture, Ibuki just smirked. "Ah, you have spirit. Well. Now let's see how long this lasts." He approached the traitor. He made some hand signs before placing them on the traitor.
Toturing Mentally is the Ibuki's Speciality. He makes his enemy experience just from his mental jutsu powers.
The traitor's eyes started to turn white. Veins on his forehead started showing up. The traitor started to scream like there was no tomorrow.
Sakura's knees buckled beneath her and she thrust her weight into the wall to prevent herself from falling. Her stomach churned with nausea as the traitor's scream entered her ears. The scream that followed was not just noise-it was visceral, haunting, echoing in her bones. It was like nothing she'd ever heard before-it was raw and so primal it struck something deep in her chest.
She covered her mouth with a quivering hand, afraid to look away. The tears began to swell in her eyes, obscuring her view. How much of this can I endure? she thought. Her mentor's words echoed faintly in her mind: A shinobi must endure.
Sakura's head was a storm of disparate thoughts. She had never felt so powerless, so small.
The interrogator Ibuki threw her a passing glance, his features impulsive. "This is our world, Sakura. They will not think twice about destroying everything you love. We can't be scared to push further, to do what needs to be done."
Was it necessary? The spy's voice cracked and low, almost inaudible as he muttered something under his breath. He felt the interrogator moved closer and closer to the point where he was mouthing silence.
"My handler… is in the TOTO Village…," the spy choked out, his voice trembling with both pain and fear.
TOTO is a very small village located on the south side of the Konoha Village. The city is famous for its Trade.
The interrogator Ibuki stood and nodded, satisfied. "Good. That wasn't so hard, was it?"
He turned to leave, waving his hand to signify that the guard should take the spy away. But the damage was already done-not only to the spy but to Sakura. She was suddenly paralyzed, unable to move or open her mouth, her wide eyes glued on the tortured traitor getting out of the prison.
Now, the room was oppressive. Her breaths quickened, and the walls began to shut in on her. She rushed for the door, desperate for air, desperate to escape the nightmare she just witnessed. She dumped onto her knees, gasping for air outside. The night air did little to quell her.
Asuma Sensei approached. His voice was softer now. "You did well to stay, Sakura. Most wouldn't have lasted.".
She looked up at him with a face that was muddy with tears and anger. "If this is what it means to be a shinobi, then maybe I don't want to be one.".
He crouched beside her, a tone almost gentle. "You think this was cruel? The enemy we face won't show us the same mercy. This world is cruel, Sakura. If you want to protect it, you have to understand that.".
Sakura didn't speak. She hadn't dared. Her thoughts remained a maelstrom of horrible ideas—shame, remorse, and some vague something, but it made no difference. All that she knew was that she'd never forget the screams of that man in that room or the cold, mechanical efficiency with which the interrogator had snapped him.
