Chapter 7: Training (3)

The next morning, Yucheon was practicing his breathing techniques in the courtyard of their manor when a figure approached him.

The man was tall and lean, with sharp eyes that seemed to pierce through Yucheon. His movements were fluid yet controlled, exuding a quiet confidence.

"Young Master Jin Yucheon," the man said, bowing slightly. "I am Han Su-Won, your new instructor."

Yucheon paused his training and returned the bow. "I look forward to learning from you, Instructor Han."

Han Su-Won straightened up, observing the young boy before him. "Your father has told me about your talents. But talent is nothing without discipline. We will start with the fundamentals before diving deeper into your cultivation technique."

Yucheon nodded. "I understand."

"Good," Han Su-Won said, his tone firm but not unkind. "Show me what you know so far."

Yucheon demonstrated his understanding of the Lightning Cultivation technique. He executed the basic breathing patterns and guided the Qi through his meridians with surprising precision for his age. Han Su-Won's sharp eyes narrowed slightly as he observed the boy's movements.

"Impressive," Han Su-Won admitted after a moment. "For someone so young, your control over your Qi flow is remarkable. However, your foundation is lacking. Before you master lightning's speed, you must first master the stability of a mountain."

Yucheon tilted his head. "What do you mean, Instructor?"

"Lightning is fast and unpredictable," Han explained, his voice measured. "But if you cannot control your movements, you will expend too much energy or injure yourself. A strong foundation will allow you to handle the speed and ferocity of lightning without faltering."

Han gestured to the training yard. "We begin with stance training."

---

For the next several hours, Yucheon practiced standing in various stances, each designed to strengthen his core and legs. Han Su-Won corrected his posture constantly, ensuring every muscle was engaged.

"Do not rely solely on your Qi," Han instructed. "Your body must be strong enough to handle the strain. Qi is a tool, not a crutch."

By the end of the session, Yucheon's legs were trembling, his muscles burning with exhaustion. Despite the fatigue, he maintained his stance, determination etched onto his young face. Han Su-Won observed him silently, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.

"Enough for today," Han finally said. "Rest, and we will continue tomorrow."

Yucheon straightened up, bowing deeply. "Thank you, Instructor Han."

As Yucheon limped back to his room, he felt a sense of accomplishment despite his aching body. This was only the beginning, but he was ready for the challenges ahead.

To achieve greatness, he would endure whatever it took.

The next day, Yucheon woke up early, he was excited to continue his training. His legs were sore from the previous session, but he pushed through the discomfort, knowing that this was part of the process.

If he can't handle such minor pain how can he survive in this cruel world? He must throw away such a weak mindset and replace them.

Han Su-Won was already waiting in the courtyard. His sharp eyes scanned Yucheon as the boy approached, the man saw through his pupil's struggle to walk but despite that his determination despite the clear fatigue in his steps made him quite happy.

"Good. You're here on time," Han said.

"Today, we will focus on body conditioning. You're young, so the training will be light but effective. Over time, we will increase the difficulty as your body grows stronger."

Yucheon nodded, his face serious.

"I understand."

"Let's begin with simple movements," Han instructed. "Start with walking in the Horse Stance."

Yucheon widened his stance, bending his knees into the familiar position. His thighs burned immediately, but he pressed on, shuffling forward as Han walked alongside him.

"Keep your back straight," Han corrected. "And don't bounce. Your movements should be smooth, like flowing water."

For the next hour, Yucheon shuffled back and forth across the courtyard. Sweat dripped down his face, and his legs felt like they would give out, but he clenched his teeth and continued. Han's voice guided him, steady and firm.

"Good. Now rest for a moment," Han said after a while. Yucheon sank to the ground, panting heavily.

Han handed him a small flask of water.

"Drink. Hydration is just as important as training."

After a short break, Han introduced a new exercise: balancing on one leg while holding a small stone on his outstretched palm.

"This will improve your stability and focus," Han explained.

"If you cannot balance, you will struggle to control your movements during combat."

Yucheon wobbled at first, the small stone feeling heavier than it should. But with Han's guidance, he adjusted his posture and found a sense of equilibrium.

"Good. Now switch legs."

They repeated the exercise until Yucheon's arms and legs trembled from the strain.

---

By midday, Han transitioned to breathing exercises. He guided Yucheon through controlled inhales and exhales, teaching him how to synchronize his breath with the flow of Qi.

"Qi moves like a current," Han said, his tone patient. "If your breathing is erratic, your Qi will scatter. Steady your breath and the Qi will follow."

Yucheon focused, feeling the subtle energy within him respond. It wasn't perfect, but he could sense the improvement compared to his earlier attempts.

---

As the sun began to set, Han concluded the day's training.

"You've done well today," Han said, his expression softer than before. "But remember, this is only the beginning. Build your foundation first. Speed and power will come later."

Yucheon bowed deeply, sweat dripping from his brow. "Thank you, Instructor Han."

Han nodded. "Rest well. We'll continue tomorrow."

As Yucheon returned to his room, his body ached from head to toe, but he couldn't stop the small smile forming on his face. Progress was slow, but it was steady.

He climbed into bed, his mind already planning for the next day.
