"Hey, bro, calm down! Calm down!"
The two bodyguards raised their hands together, and the one on the left spoke.
"We didn't mean to stop you. Miss Adele is really not available to see you right now."
"What, is she taking a shower?"
"Uh, no."
"Then she's sleeping?"
"Not exactly."
"Then she's meeting some important guests?"
"Well, um, not really..."
"Then what is it? Don't beat around the bush, just open the door for me!"
Zhou Ming raised his gun and threatened them without hesitation.
"Okay, since you insist."
The bodyguard on the right shrugged and pulled out a room card from his pocket, handing it over.
"Thanks."
Zhou Ming took the room card and swiped it on the door, and the door opened.
Then, Zhou Ming saw a scene that shook him to the core.
Bang!
Zhou Ming closed the door again and turned his head with a strange expression, looking at the two bodyguards who were getting up from the ground.
"Those two just now... they are your colleagues?"
Zhou Ming remembered the four bodyguards that were with Adele the first time he saw her, two black and two white.
The two bodyguards nodded.
"So you two are also involved with her..."
The two bodyguards exchanged a glance, and both showed a lecherous smile, giving Zhou Ming a look that all men understood, nodding again.
Thirty minutes later.
Adele, wrapped in a bathrobe, sat on the sofa with four well-dressed bodyguards lined up behind her, two black and two white, a perfect match.
"Mr. Zhang, do you always act without regard for the occasion?"
Adele wiped her hair with a towel and spoke in a displeased tone.
"Um, maybe I should go first? I can come back when you're done with your business." Zhou Ming smiled awkwardly.
"Never mind! Let's talk about business directly. I hope you can really talk about 'business' with me!" Adele said, wiping her hair with a towel, her skin flushed and breathing heavily.
"Of course," Zhou Ming smiled, "I'd like to ask Miss Adele, who do you think is most likely to hire someone to kill you? Or who would benefit the most if you were killed?"
"Is that what you came to ask me?" Adele shook her head. "I've thought about this question before, but I haven't come up with an answer."
"I have many people who like me and many who dislike me, but I can't think of anyone who would hate me enough to hire a hitman to kill me, nor can I think of any benefit that would come from my being killed."
"Although my family is wealthy, my father is still in good health, and I have an older brother who has been trained as a successor since childhood."
"Even if I were killed now, at most, it would only make my family sad and would not have a significant impact on our business or wealth."
"Mr. Zhang, do you have any more questions?"
Zhou Ming nodded and asked, "Miss Adele, I remember you have an uncle, right?"
"That's right, he's my father's younger brother, but he's thirteen years younger than my father."
Adele answered truthfully, her tone tinged with anger. "Do you suspect my uncle? It's impossible. He watched me grow up, and even you were recommended to me by him. How could he hire a hitman to kill me?"
Zhou Ming's lips curled into a smile of surprise. "Miss Adele, I was just asking about your uncle, not accusing him. Your reaction seems a bit too extreme, don't you think? It's as if you've suspected your uncle all along but avoided the question in your heart, so you're sensitive about it and will refute anyone who mentions it."
"Do you think what I said makes sense?"
Adele fell silent.
Zhou Ming continued in a calm and unhurried tone, "So, can we talk now?"
As he spoke, his gaze swept over the four bodyguards in the room.
"Edmund, Cavill, you two can leave first."
Adele nodded in understanding and spoke directly.
The four bodyguards were quite obedient and didn't hesitate at all to follow Adele's orders, leaving without even a word of persuasion, and even taking the door to the presidential suite with them.
When only two people were left in the room, Adele seemed to relax a bit, and then did something that caught Zhou Ming off guard.
She slowly took off her towel and threw it aside on the sofa, stretching her arms and putting them on the back of the sofa. She licked her red lips and looked at Zhou Ming provocatively.
"I like to be honest with people when we meet, and I hope you can be honest with me too."
Faced with infinite spring scenery, Zhou Ming remained unchanged: "No, I'm a person who hides too many secrets. I probably can't be honest with anyone in my lifetime. So let's talk about your uncle instead."
"Really?" Adele scanned Zhou Ming with her eyes.
"But you can't control me here." Zhou Ming tapped his own head.
"Boring!" Adele carefully observed Zhou Ming's expressions and reactions and found that he was not pretending, which left her disappointed.
She crossed her legs, with one leg over the other, arms folded, leaning forward, right elbow against her thigh, palm supporting her chin, blocking the two peaks.
This half-hidden and half-revealed action was even more charming than the bold posture just now, seducing people's hearts.
She took the cigarette from the table and, seeing that Zhou Ming didn't offer to light it for her, lit the long lady cigarette herself and took a deep breath.
"You're really not a gentleman!"
Exhaling a puff of smoke, Adele half-complained and half-laughed.
"This is an issue of status, not mine. If I were in a different position, I would show you what a real gentleman is."
Zhou Ming shrugged.
"Can we get to the point now?"
Adele took another deep breath of smoke and exhaled slowly before finally speaking.
"This is a very difficult thing to talk about. Maybe you will find it unbelievable and wonder why I would tell someone I barely know like you. Don't ask me why, I don't know either. I just saw you and wanted to tell you."
"But don't worry, I'm not lying or having any ulterior motives. Just think of me as someone who couldn't keep this secret anymore and needed to vent my emotions that had been pent up inside. You happened to be the listener because this scandal involves my family's reputation."
Adele's calm words revealed a secret that could almost make someone jump up in surprise.
"A few months ago, I accidentally discovered their secret relationship. To be honest, I was really shocked at the time and didn't expect it."
"I have wished countless times that I didn't know about this matter later, but those impactful scenes are like the most stubborn computer virus, lingering in my mind."
"I'm not sure if they saw me that day, because they didn't show any unusual behavior afterwards."
"But I still often think about this matter, constantly reminding me of the twisted and nauseating truth."
Amidst the faint smoke, Adele told her story. The half-smoked cigarette gradually burned out, leaving a long ash hanging from the butt between Adèle's slender fingers, swaying back and forth.
After hearing this story, Zhou Ming had a lot on his mind, but looking at Adele's melancholic expression, he ultimately swallowed all the words he wanted to say.
He only asked, "Do you think if this matter were to be exposed, what impact would it have on your family?"
"Impact?" Adele gave a bitter laugh. "Ha, of course, it would be significant."
"Our family's honor would be damaged, and our reputation would plummet. I don't know how many people would mock us, and our competitors wouldn't let this opportunity slip by. They would report on it extensively, wanting the whole world to know about this ugly incident."
"My father would be furious, and my brother...he wouldn't want to see my father angry."
"If your father were to find out about this matter, would it cancel your brother's inheritance rights?" Zhou Ming asked a piercing question.
Adele didn't answer, but her dejected demeanor had already given Zhou Ming the answer.
"So, you actually had an answer in your heart from the beginning, didn't you?" Zhou Ming asked softly.
Silence, still silence.
Zhou Ming laughed and also crossed his legs. He calmly said, "Miss Adele, you're really good at deceiving yourself. Do you think you can pretend that you don't know anything and that everything can be treated as if it never happened?"
"Shut up!" Adele's face was full of anger.
Zhou Ming didn't intend to let her go and continued, "What's your plan? To go with the flow? To give up on yourself? Is your promiscuity your last act of self-indulgence?"
"Stop it!" Adele was extremely agitated, throwing her almost-extinguished cigarette butt at Zhou Ming in anger.
"Have you ever thought that your father actually knows about this matter?" Zhou Ming flicked his finger and shot the cigarette butt that was flying towards him into the ashtray on the table. His words stunned Adele on the spot.
"What are you talking about?"
"I mean, is it possible that your father knows about this matter, or rather, he's the culprit behind all this?"
