The woman came without warning, quiet as the wind. Not a soul present in the chaos realized her presence until she made herself known. It is said to be one of her quirks, to walk without a sound, but I'm not quite sure if I should be amazed or terrified by it. Imagine a predator lurking behind your back without your knowledge. You'd be dead before you knew it.

"Maria!" Betty swiftly ran to her side, aiding her limp legs. "Why have you come here? You know it's hard for you to go up and down the stairs."

"Betty, darling," she smiled sweetly, patting Betty's hand slung around her arm. "I'm old, yes, but I'm far from crippled. I can walk just fine."
