บท 2: Chapter 2: Prices

Izuku could only smile when he saw the serious look on his mother's face. It made him happy that she showed so much support from the beginning.

"Well. I actually already told you everything. It is called the World Fishing Quirk. The Screen in front of me that I can summon and dismiss tells me a spot anywhere in the world where I can go to fish. The spot will be refreshed after two weeks. When I am at the spot to fish, I will get the fishing rod gifted, but I have to buy the bait with money. The better the bait, the better the things I can get. I can fish different things from our world or even things from other worlds." Izuku said to her with a massive and excited smile on his face.

Once again, Inko, the boy's mother, had to cringe when her son said that his quirk needed money to operate.

She wasn't surprised by the fact that there are seemingly other worlds since she didn't believe that Earth is the only planet with life in the universe, but the fact that the quirk of her son needs money is a little troublesome for her.

At the moment, the two of them only lived from the money the father had to pay for Izuku after their divorce.

Since he didn't want to see their quirkless son even one bit, he still had to spend a considerable amount of money for the both of them.

The two could live with that amount without a problem, but having much savings in such a situation is challenging.

'Our savings aren't that high. Maybe 50.000 Yen?' Inko thought with a frown on her face.

She didn't need any extra money in the past and didn't think about getting a job since her son still needed her full-time, but now that fact is a problem.

'He is already eleven years old and can be one or two hours alone after school, so maybe I should start searching for a job or maybe take a part–time job somewhere.' She thought to herself with some worry.

"How much do these baits cost?" Inko asked with some foreboding in her voice.

"There are six different kinds of baits.

Beginner for 50$

Intermediate for 500$

Advanced for 50.000$

Super for 500.000$

God for 5 Million $

and

Celestial for 500 Million $

"

That brought Inko to a sudden stop. "Dollar?" She asked, a bit dumbfounded, ignoring the absurdly high prices for the moment.

"Yeah. I also don't know why all the money is in dollars… But there was also a beginner bonus in the System, and the first 5 Advanced Baits only cost 5.000$." Izuku said with some excitement in his voice.

"Only?" Inko said with some strangeness in her voice. 'Not even something like that I can give him?' Inko added sadly in her thoughts.

Seeing the sad frown forming on his mother's face, Izuku returned to himself and instantly tried to cheer up the sour mood on his mother's face. "Mother. I know we don't have that much money, don't worry. I will start some part-time job to earn some money on the side, and in the future, we can maybe sell some of the things we will get by fishing so we can buy the higher priced ones." Izuku said, already making many future plans inside his head.

Inko still looked a bit troubled but could only agree for the moment. "I will ask around in the neighborhood since you won't be allowed to take a job officially, but if you maybe do some chores for others, you can make a little. I will also search for a job, so don't worry about that issue for now. I will do my best for you and your future, but don't expect fast results at the start." Inko said with a sad tone.

'Once again, I can't help my son the way I really want to.' Inko thought to herself with some self-blame.

"By the way, where is the first fishing spot? Maybe we can do some low ones as a test run if the spot isn't that far away." Inko asked, regaining her good mood. Her son finally got a quirk of his own; even if the situation was a bit unusual, she was still happy for him.

Izuku, not wanting his mother to lose her mood once again, dodged her look and muttered something quietly.

"Sorry, what was that?" Inko asked.

"Lac de Gérardmer," Izuku said a bit louder, not seeing a way around it.

"France?!" Inko said, a bit shocked, only now remembering that Izuku said that the refresh could be worldwide.

Looking at her son a bit guiltily, she added.

"Maybe in the future, we can visit one of the spots in a foreign country, but please tell me when the spot is near us. Once again, sorry, Izuku, that I can't do more for you." Inko said sadly to her son, with tears forming in her eyes.

"Don't worry! I know you will do your best for me like always!" Izuku exclaimed loudly while turning around again, looking at his mother with love in his eyes. He hated himself for bringing his loving mother to tears once again.

In the last years, it happened way too often that she cried over him.

Often, he could even hear her crying inside her room at night.

Seeing her once again cheerful son looking at her with so much love, Inko couldn't help but regain her smile.

After some minutes of looking at each other, Inko suddenly stood up and glanced one last time at her son with a proud look.

She knew what her son had gone through over the last few years.

She wasn't stupid.

She knew her son was getting bullied in school, and seeing him come home with bruises all over his body almost every day made her heartache.

Talking with the parents of the students who bullied him and the teachers of the school didn't help her son even one bit, and she already knew that it was for the reason that her son was quirkless.

Why did she know that the fact of him being quirkless was connected to the teachers and parents not helping her son?

That is easy to answer.

At the start, when she saw what happened, she wanted to transfer her little son to another school, but after three failed attempts for the reason of 'quirkless,' she gave up and just tried to help her son from the shadows.

Sadly, her plan to talk to Mitsuki, her once best friend since high school, didn't help.

Considering that Mitsuki's son is the main bully of Izuku didn't help.

The relationship between the two mothers has deteriorated since then.

Inko could see that it hurt Mitsuki, but for Inko, her son was the most important, and if her best friend couldn't even help her son, she just stopped caring for her. It's as simple as that.

Thinking about her son's gloomy life and seeing his still-happy stance on life and everything else made her proud of him. She certainly couldn't stay as optimistic as him if she were in the same situation he faced daily.

Already with her back to her son, she could only think about that after she finished their dinner, she would search for a job online.

Hopefully, she can find a somewhat decent one, but after her not working for years, her hope wasn't that high.
