บท 4: Son-in-law Plan! (2)
Irene walked into the Shu Mansion with her two maids Midori and Ayano while ten bodyguards waited right out the door.
The maids politely directed her towards the living room unlike before where they would avoid Irene's needs like air, it was an entirely different treatment.
As soon as Jiayu Shu, her stepmother descended the stairs she began criticizing: "Irene! What behaviour is this, coming back only a day after your wedding. The whole Shu Family depends on you, what will your father think of this!"
It was a shrewd concerned tone which indicated two things:
1. I'm am acting as if I am very worried about you.
2. You have done a mistake, now apologize.
If the real Irene was alive and well, she would've definitely fallen in such word traps believing her stepmother's act by now.
And those who didn't understand their relationship might believe she and this woman were really a mother and daughter.
'Those people' example? The bodyguards, they are all Ethan's servants, whatever happens here will directly be transferred to Ethan's ear.
Irene didn't respond but kept smiling, making Jiayu feel a bit uncomfortable, this girl never smiled before, what the hell happened in the Laurent Mansion!?
Of course, Irene was smiling, her six months stay in the Shu family wasn't very-
-pleasant.
She can't win Eric's affection anyway with her average appearance. He might even possibly rather sleep with a prostitute. Regardless who wants a man fifteen year older than themselves.
Even though she's a mentally 39-year-old woman her heart has always been a 16-year-old! Okay!
Irene quickly picked up the glass filled with water and urged Jiayu to drink it, she was back to acting: "Mother, calm down, your wrinkles will grow! Moisture your throat!"
Irene's face showed a big grin and she said a lot of affectionate words. In her code of conduct, saying flattery didn't require money at all so come on let it flow out of your mouth like water!
In barely 10 minutes, Irene's so-called sisters had already received news of her arrival.
Welcome to the show stepsister Victoria and adoptive daughter of the Shu family, Violet. Violet was the daughter of Jaiyu's deceased sister later adopted by Jiayu Shu.
Her so-called biological father didn't even bother to come, he was probably busy saving his shattered company.
"Heh. Look who's here dressed as a ghost, should I burn some paper money for you?" Victoria didn't seem to care about the 'shut up' look of her mother and continued.
"The old man Eric didnt like your dry face and killed you directly, pfft.." Victoria didn't care about Irene marrying into a reputable family. She was so mediocre and ordinary-looking and she married an old man!
You can't blame Victoria for calling her a ghost. Irene wasn't wearing lively clothes, a white dress with no accessories or so and her bangs almost reached her eyes, you could say-
-she was certified ghost look-a-like!
Violet hastily coughed to ease the atmosphere, as if taking Irene's side: "Sis Irene! Don't give attention to Vicky's words. How's the Laurent estate? Did something happen for you to suddenly come back?"
Violet is the youngest and and the wisest in Jaiyu's eyes, she realized that right now the most crucial thing was to know why Irene was here. If only her daughter was as clever as Violet, she could live in peace!
Victoria unexpectedly frowned, from childhood to the present her mother had always looked at her with such a pitying look whenever Violet was near her. She hated this look.
Victoria gloomily said: "Mom! Show Irene the way out. Let her go live with her old husband! Wait till I marry Ethan and show her how a proper wife of the Laurent Family looks like!"
"Victoria! Go up to your room right now!" Jaiyu's mood was turning from sympathy to dissatisfaction staring at her irrational daughter.
Violet was the most taken aback, Victoria wouldn't behave so aggressive normally. Even though the Laurent family members aren't here, can't she see the ten motionless bodyguards!
Victoria didn't want to leave at first but Violet dragged her upstairs: "Mom..you listen.."
Irene barely suppressed her urge to laugh and said: "Mother, I found out that my step-son likes quiet and gentle women."
Of course, Irene was spitting nonsense, she just said what all men what and what Victoria didn't have. Irene really wanted to say that Ethan liked older woman but seeing the ten bodyguards she-
-threw her idea to space.
Jaiyu hearing what Irene said, swallowed her saliva, she expected to make Irene apologize but Irene had hit her soft spot.
Only Irene can bring information about the likes of Ethan Laurent. Right now she needs to be the perfect mother.
