Cael tensed, trying to find who exactly told that. His mind felt hot with anger. "Tell that again in the face of her husband, coward!" he shouted.
"And get out of this spot! Or do you think you are strong enough to just bully your way through the queue?!" Ginevra growled at the queue-cutter.
No one responded to Cael—likely because the caller really was a coward.
But the man who cut the queue turned towards Ginevra. He put his hands on his hips and jutted his chin up. Now everyone could see the golden Mage's Mark with four diamonds on his chest.
"You can't expect an important man like me to wait like all those peasants!" the man declared. "Don't you know who I am? Don't you recognize that mark?"
"No, I don't," Ginevra said, folding her hands over her chest. "Get away from here or I will throw you out."
Cael got closer to the two of them. "Do you need help, Gin?" he asked.
