บท 267: Snake strike

Dante's goons moved first. Cael sensed their bodies filling with enhancing magic, but instead of spells, they prepared long curved daggers. Each dagger was covered in magic glyphs which read words for sharpness and durability, but there were no other artifacts Cael saw on the men's bodies.

Shouting battle cries, the goons charged at Cael, their blades aimed at his vital points.

These two were fast, but far from as quick as ejderha attacks. Without even showing all his speed, Cael side-stepped an attack from the slightly shorter lizardman called Sadi, then caught the slightly taller one, Hakam, by his wrist.

Using Hakam's inertia to his advantage, Cael threw the man into the wall. At the same time, he gathered mana, weaving an exsanguination spell to deal with both of the men with some profit to himself.

"Not so fast, mage," Sadi hissed through two rows of sharp, triangular teeth.
