NORTH POLE

A white ice spire, wider at the bottom but quickly narrowing as it rose towards the skies, stood in front of them.

Its peak scratched the sky, but the exact height of the spire was hard to measure because of the raging blizzard. It must've been at least two hundred meters, but not more than a few dozen meters in radius. The walls of the spire were uneven and full of ledges of various sizes. Yet there was a strange pattern in the ledges and the way they appeared, which made it appear almost human-made and not like a naturally created mountain.

Even this close, even with its size, the spire almost merged with the scenery—white ice on white snow. But the oppressive aura of the place made it impossible to miss even without seeing it with your eyes.

It dominated the snowy landscape that surrounded it and made both approaching groups of mage look like ants in comparison. Ants that only survived thanks to the bubbles of their magic shields.
