Leaving the restaurant, Ryder and I don't say a word to one another, and I am still livid! This man is hot and cold, all wrapped up in a crazy nutshell. My reaction isn't one I am proud of, but I have every reason to be upset! I am slowly losing hope of ever seeing my parents or Max again. My kidnapping probably isn't going to end well. Hopefully, it ends with a bullet through Ryder's head!
I don't notice tears falling until Ryder tries to hand me a tissue.
"Please take it. I'm sorry for upsetting you."
I continue to look out of the window. I didn't ask for sympathy, so I don't want it!
Ryder gives up and places the tissue on his lap.
We drive down a road of nothing but an endless sea of Fir trees. No signs of any homes, people, or cross streets exist. I turn around and see if there are any cars behind us.
Not one.
