บท 75: Chapter 74: Three-way Fight
Back at Rihito's side
After calming Tohru, they both began searching the demon's stronghold for useful items. During their search, he encountered a few lingering demons who still wanted to fight.
At first, Rihito tried to ignore them. He didn't want to deal with them, it would be just a waste of time.
The demon saw the human ignore him and got enraged.
"You bastard, Diiieee!!" With a scream, he lunged forward, fists ready to throw punches.
Rihito, noticing the demon, swiftly grabbed him by the head and tossed him aside before continuing his search. As he made his way to the tower, several demons attempted to catch him off guard, but they all failed and were sent flying through the air.
Rihito then went to the other three towers where he sensed the magic circles. There he found the magic circle inscribed with the location of the sea of trees, the Hoelscher Empire and Fuhren which lies in between the two major powers.
Rihito saw this and just like the first magic circle he destroyed it, moving on to find some useful materials.
After about 3 more hours of searching Rihito had stashed quite a hefty number of items, like books, rare ores, and riches.
Rihito looked at Tohru, "Good job."
I gave her a thumbs-up because she helped me find the treasure buried deep beneath the rubble. Tohru used her sense of smell to locate the exact spot and informed me.
[I have to say dragons are best at finding treasure] I nodded to myself.
Tohru getting praised by me happily scratched her head sheepishly.
"Hehehe…" she giggled.
"Alright, it's time to go back." With that, I grabbed Tohru's hand, and we both disappeared, teleporting back from now ruined demon stronghold. Appearing right back to the deserted place we teleported from.
Then without wasting time Tohru and I then directly flew to the Gruen Volcano.
In about a few minutes, we flew directly into the sandstorm surrounding the Gruen Volcano and crossed it.
I then stopped in order to find the entrance of the Volcano, using <Mana Sence> it didn't take me too long to find the entrance.
We directly flew there and saw the black stairs heading inwards of the volcano.
"Master, is this it," Tohru asked. She was curious to see the entrance of the Labyrinth.
"Yeah, there is no doubt about it."
I got near the stairs and crouched there just to see a few slightly visible footprints, which matched Hajime, Shea, Shizuku and others.
I got up from there, "let's head inside."
Rihito and Tohru headed inside and soon they also came across a bizarre site.
Just like Shea, Shizuku, and others, Rihito was also dumbfounded to see the Gruen volcano inside.
[This, is different from what I remember. In the anime there was nothing like this,] Rihito saw the floating lines of magma flowing through the air heading from one wall to another. While it flowed some of the magma dropped creating a troublesome terrain.
"Master is there a problem," Tohru asked seeing me pause for a moment.
I looked at her and answered, "Nah, I was just surprised seeing the interior of this place. It's my first time seeing something like this."
I looked back at the multiple lines of flowing magma and analysed it.
He discovered that a significant amount of mana was used to sustain the gravity magic needed to maintain the floating lines of magma throughout the labyrinth.
"Let's go."
Rihito then created a barrier covering both himself and Tohru preventing the magma from reaching them.
Both of them started to traverse through the Labyrinth without much hindrance. Rihito using <Mana Sense> was constantly sensing his surroundings. Whatever monsters that tried to get close to them instantly disappeared without leaving a trace.
Rihito and Tohru had no trouble traversing the Labyrinth at a record-breaking speed. It only took them half an hour to reach the Magma River, where Vela was used.
Rihito saw the magma river and remembered a piece of information. All the magma rivers flowing throughout the volcano are flowing to the centre of the labyrinth, where the final trial lies.
With that, he started to follow the magma river.
Rihito continued on without pausing, following the flow of the magma river. Tohru too followed without saying a word.
And soon they reached the end of the passage. They came across a blinding light that caused both Rihito and Tohru to close their eyes.
Although Rihito closed his eyes he could still see via <Magic sense>.
He spotted a large white dragon in the sky unleashing a breath attack at Hajime, which resembled a laser. On top of that Dragan stood a man, directing the wyverns to attack Hajime and others.
Hajime, on the other hand, stood in the sky surrounded by his 'Cross Bits,' which blocked the breath attacks aimed at the girls. He retaliated with his Donner and Schlag, who were slowly taking out smaller dragons.
Meanwhile, Shea and Shizuku were battling magma serpents, concentrating on the trial, while Tio and Yue launched magical attacks at the smaller dragons, that slipped passed Hajime.
Boom!
Shea swung her weapon, activating the shockwave blast that smashed one of the magma serpent's heads and the core hiding inside.
At that moment, another magma serpent saw an opportunity and attacked the opening, its mouth opened wide, trying to swallow Shea.
But before that could happen the serpent's head got sliced in half by a wind slash.
Shea saw the serpent cut in half and gave Shizuku a thumbs-up. She then pulled the handle of her Drucken, turning it into a cannon, and started to fire at the remaining serpents.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Shizuku after cutting down the magma serpent, that tried to attack Shea focused back at the serpents aiming for her.
Two of the serpents attacked Shizuku from front and back simultaneously. Shizuku already saw the ambush coming, and jumped, dodging the attack.
In mid-air, Shizuku changed her posture and drew her sword. Using her <Sign Perception>, she identified the cores of the serpents and launched two slashes towards their locations.
The slash hit its mark turning the two serpents into a magma puddle.
Landing back on one of the stone pillars, she looked at where the magma dome lay. There, on slightly below the edge of its wall, most of the crystal dimmed, leaving about 30 more, which matched the number of magma serpents.
"A little more to go." thinking that she focused on the remaining serpents.
"..."
"Draconic Thunder"
Yue's magic summoned multiple thunder dragons, which she directed at the dragons that got past Hajime, along with several magma serpents, electrocuting them and further reducing their numbers.
Yue clearing her side of the area looked in the direction of the magma dome to see how many crystals remained.
There were about 22 more.
Right at that time Yue senses a large amount of mana focused on one place.
She looked there and saw Tio gathering a large amount of mana, then she created an attack that reminded her of Tio's Dragon Breath.
Tio flying in the sky searched for a perfect location from where she could deal with all the nuisance at once, and soon she found it and started to gather a large amount of mana and fired her dragon breath, taking out about the remaining 5 dragons and 7 magma serpents.
Tio, after clearing her side, looked around and noticed that all the smaller dragons that had passed Hajime were dead. Realising this, she flew over to where Yue was standing. Together, they decided to support Shea and Shizuku in dealing with the remaining magma serpents.
