"What do you want!!!" The screams echoed across the void. Another victim for new ideas and tales. "There, there child," I spoke with a smile. "You know as well as I do what awaits you. You were too obsessed with anime not to know." That seemed to get a slight nervous chuckle out of the individual. "Ohhh, so you'll reincarnate me with 3 wishes or something." "Nope," my answer in a quick retort made him pale. "Oh, don't worry I'll give you a chance. I'll let you first spin which world your going into, and plot twist for you not all of them are combat based." The relief was palpable. Quite literally for a omnipotent being such as myself, but I'll let that slide for now.
With a big ol' spin of a wheel that materialized from the void itself the man faced down his future life and death. "Around and around the wheel we go, no matter where it lands I'm sure to have fun." The chant was something I had picked up over the years. The many years of suffering having nothing to do, except wait. Eventually the wheel slowed down on a familiar topic and one I found I quite enjoyed. "Naruto, my quite lucky or unlucky. Not really sure. It's not the best, but thankfully you didn't get something like a zombie apocalypse world or something right?"
The reincarnated obviously didn't enjoy my teasing having to come to grips with probably fighting for his life in the future. Some people are really tough until push comes to shove. Still, I promised not to decide how they'll end up, just with that small action of theirs. "You're not going to seriously put me there are you? Didn't you just say not all worlds have fighting in them. Why didn't you stick me into one of those. I've never fought a day of my life!" Familiar words, all too familiar, books liked to describe most people as ready to go to their new lives okay with combat right away. In reality that was almost never true. Most hated fighting. Yet they did, out of pure necessity.
"I never guaranteed it, I just stated it as a possibility. I don't personally decide where you go. Typically it's a mix of your karma and just plain luck." The news obviously sent the individual into despair. "So, what am I supposed to do now then. You said I don't get wishes. Do I have any way of actually defending myself in this world. I don't want to die again, so... simply." A call for grandeur hidden in despair. A desire to overcome. Truly the most remarkable traits of being human, and the ones I took the deepest interest in. "Fine then i'll give you a power, one of my left over blessings I haven't tried yet if you want it?" "ANYTHING!!!" The scream continued into the void echoing through eternity, want, my what an interesting emotion. "Then have it. I wish you luck in your new life Nirius, farewell." I looked into his defiant eyes that didn't wish to disappear and smirked. It was those individuals that made my job as a ROB so much more interesting.
My first meeting with Nirius I recalled with fond memories. I always knew the kid had potential for greatness. If only I realized sooner, how much.
