บท 3: You!!!

Chelsea felt her throat get stuck as she walked into the huge kitchen through the back entrance. Shit! She was late. The many workers of The Owen's Mansion were already lined up and was being addressed by Mrs Belinda, the chief worker. She tried to quickly join the line without being seen but she wasn't in luck as her cloth got stuck on something and it fell.

" Ms. Allen, you're late" Mrs Belinda said. Chelsea cursed her luck as she picked up the stainless vase that fell. She was grateful it didn't break.

" I'm sorry ma'am. I got stuck up " she said not willing to recount the earlier experience.

" You're indeed very lucky the bosses aren't here yet. You might have lost your job today"

Chelsea lowered her head and rolled her eyes. The so called " job" wasn't even worth it.

" Join in the line quickly. We don't have time to spare"

Chelsea walked to the point in the line where the young cleaners stood and joined them silently.

" Now, back to where I was before I was interrupted" Mrs Belinda continued, her voice raised so everyone could hear.

" We are to be of very good behavior throughout his stay. Anyone found guilty of misconduct is liable to lose his/ her job. Late coming isn't going to be permitted" she looked at Chelsea's direction as she said this and the young girl lowered her head to the ground.

" I personally will see to the punishment of those who come in here late"

Chelsea rolled her eyes and bit her lips. She hated this woman. She seemed to have been bewitched into the rich people's squad but in actual sense, she wasn't even rich. She just had that same arrogance which was probably gotten from the fact that she managed the affairs of The Owen's Mansion and had people working under her. She also walked under someone though! Chelsea thought and consoled herself.

" He will choose those he intends to be his personal servants. It might be any of you. There will be one from the cleaners section, the cooks and the rest of them so you all should be ready. We shall be addressed soon but in the mean time stay around. You are dismissed" Mrs Belinda ended and they all left. Chelsea was completely unaware of everything that was said, she had missed the most important information, she guessed and Mrs Belinda wasn't kind enough to repeat it. Bitchy! Chelsea cussed.

She made her way to one of the girls who was her fellow cleaner.

" Umm... Dora, I came in a little late. What was she talking about?" Chelsea asked.

" Ohh! The Owen's son is returning. He's been away for so long and he's finally returning so I guess his parents are planning a sorta feast. You know these rich people are highly sensitive to celebrations. What might seem little to us is actually very big to them" Dora rattled. Chelsea had heard enough, she thanked her and left. She sat quietly in her favourite section of the whole mansion, the kitchen's fireplace. It gave her some kind of peace, somehow it reminded her of home. Her father loved to sit by the fireplace so she took the habit from him. She had grown used to it now.

Chelsea sighed. A lot had happened that day. She just hoped this son of theirs wouldn't be trouble. Could that ever be possible? Rich people's children were the worse. They acted like they were the only ones created by God and the rest are just some mistake or something. That was the way she felt around them- like she was just a mistake. And that's all cause her family didn't have enough money to be called rich. Her father was a common railway worker who laboured from sunrise to sunset only to be given a worthless salary at the end of the month. Her mother was a petty baker but she never had enough to bake and as such, her work was barely appreciated. She was good though and that was fact. People just didn't see that cause they were poor. Her elder brother worked for another rich family as a driver and here she was, still in high school but working part time as a cleaner for the almighty Owen family. Chelsea hated her life! God knew she did and she kind of hated Him cause He refused to do anything about it. She knew it was wrong to question God but she couldn't help it when her heart got so heavy.

" Chelsea!" she heard her name and jerked back to reality.

" C'mon. The young master is here" Dora said and Chelsea didn't miss the excitement in her voice. She sighed deeply and hoping time would get by as quick as possible, she followed Dora to the huge living room. As usual she got enchanted by the splendour of the room. She had been in it countless times but each time she walked into the room, she couldn't help but be amazed. This people were bloody rich and that was a fact!

They all lined up as they had done earlier, they were about fifteen in number, drivers and guards excluded.

Mr and Mrs Owen walked into the room from the giant staircase and at the same time, the huge doors of the main entrance opened up. Chelsea didn't know what she had been expecting but she lost her breath as her eyes fell on the person that walked through the door. As if her bad luck wasn't enough, his eyes fell on her and he took off his glasses just to make sure. Chelsea almost fainted. He was holding her gaze and she couldn't look away. Those eyes!! They were worse than what she thought it'd be like. She saw his mouth move and what came out was:

" You!!!"
