บท 1: PROLOGUE
RAINY MELANCHOLY
A girl was listening to the loud cries and ruthless arguments of her parents from the other room totally unfazed . Since she had grown used to it
She just watched the rain pour down through her closed window.
"SHE IS YOUR FUCKING CHILD TAKE HER WITH YOU" shouted the man.
"I'M NOT GONNA KEEP HER , I DON'T WANT ANY MORE PROBLEMS. YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH" shouted the woman.
Her parents relationship was unstable , toxic and on the verge of breaking , they were arguing and pushing the child on each other like an unwanted thing.
Months and Months of argument led them to the conclusion of leaving the child into the hand of a relative . Even distributing their roles for the girl's wellbeing. The father taking responsibility for her living expenses and the mother for the girl's allowances.
The duties were fulfilled, Since the only responsibility a parents has is their child's expenses.
Isn't it? Yeah it is . It is for them and so for her .
Many years passed , the girl was now 12 years old .
Living with her relative wasn't hard . She just needed to stay in her room, minding her own business .
The money was always sent on time , even an extra payment was sent to them for keeping her . Like a pet's caretaker ? So what else was needed .
The relatives children's weren't very fond of the girl
Her blank expression, Quiet and cold demeanour was something they hated . But the girl ? She was just minding her own business just like she used to .
Her School life? Friends?
In simple words, NO . She was a loner who didn't feel the need to make friends and interact with anyone .
Her Grades? Yes she was an excellent student since she was a smart kid but all that was seen as an arrogance of hers . But the girl? Yes she was just minding her own business.
Bullying was something she experienced once in a blue moon since she was not a pushover . She simply refused to give a response. Always kept a blank face making the bullies shiver from her dead looking dull eyes.
One day, the girl sat on a bench eating her bento when suddenly a lil stray pup came near her , wagging his tail and staring at her bento .
She then tossed some food to him since she wasn't too hungry and left the bench and went inside her classroom . She didn't think much of it . She just went on with her day.
The school was over and she was returning home as usual , then she found herself being followed by the lil pup . She wasn't delighted nor pleased .
'Ah. Since i gave him food' was the first thing that came on her mind .
She kept on walking without sparing a glance at the dog. This kept on repeating everyday .
The dog would always follow her wagging his tail and now she was getting annoyed.
She turned back and looked at the dog and glared coldly but it came near her feet and nuzzled her.
Getting annoyed by it she kicked the dog , A pained squeal came from the dog . But the figure who kicked it was long gone.
Weeks had passed by since then, but the dog was still following her . She was confused and annoyed
'I haven't fed him so why is he following me?'
She chose to ignore it .
But one day she was caught by a group of her classmates . She knew what was gonna happen.
They were cornering her for money .
'Oh what a great timing , we found a friend' said the boy.
'Now help us with some money' said the girl grinning .
She stared them with her usual blank expression making them annoyed .
'What a disgusting face' said the girl.
'Lets make that expression the way we like it'
'Crying face' said the boy .
'Cry? .... Me? .....
'Let me see you try.' Said the girl with the most terrifying look in her face .
Which made them scared and hesitant to go near her.
'Wtf! We are 4 people . She cant do shit' said the boy.
Just when he was about to hit her a small dog jumped in his face making him fall .
The dog was none other than the dog she kicked few weeks ago.
It was a scene , A moment , she had never experienced in her whole life
A dog so small and frail which can't even protect itself was trying to protect her.
It kept on barking and getting kicked by them yet it still tried to protect her.
At that moment , she knew what she had to do.
'You're weak . Let me protect you' said the girl and carried the dog in her arms . Before beating those four senseless.
And now she was staring at the dog like it was an alien while the dog ate the food she brought for him from the convenience store.
She was confused , pleased , delighted...?
The Euphorically pleasant feeling was growing in the girl's life for the very first time.
After that day she kept on feeding him , playing with him (if staring at him counts) .
She started spending time with him more , she would return straight to home after school and finish her assignments quickly and went to the park where her small pup was waiting. Unfortunately she didn't have the power nor place to keep him. So she made a place for him near the park hidden from others.
Months went by , now she had grown attached to the lil pup . Now she was looking forward to going home, holidays.
It was a new feeling that she enjoyed having.
But life had something else store for her as it always had .
one day , there was a heavy rainfall .
She did her assignments quickly to get there faster , she grabbed an umbrella and went straight to the park with some food. She looked for him but couldn't find him. Other days the lil pup would jump and bark in joy and jump on her but today it was different.
'Is it because of the rain' she thought.
She looked him in his usual playing spots for an hour and then she finally found him .
Limp on the ground in the rain . She threw everything away from her hands and ran straight to the body . Her body moved on her own .
She ignored every heavy feelings and ran straight to the vet . She then asked the doctor to check up on him .
'Doctor, please make him awake' she was never this desperate in her life . It was just a mere animal why was she attached to it so much.
The doctor looked at her and said 'kid you need to pay the fee for his treatment'
Without thinking much of it She immediately agreed and ran towards her house .
thinking that he would make him awake .
She was all wet by the pouring rain , her relatives immediately looked at her state in disgust .
'Aunt , Can i have my allowance early this month . I need it very much. Please' she said hurriedly.
'Huh? Im not here to take your order lil kid . I'll give you your money when the months over . Thats it.' Said the aunt.
She bowed her head and relentlessly asked her money. 'Please aunt its very urgent , you can keep the allowances of the next month' she said desperately.
'Are you telling my mom that she wants your money' 'what the hell is your problem?' 'Your face looks quite delightful' taunted the relative's daughters.
She kept her head down, and begged for the money. Her own money.
'Fine, you aren't getting any next month' said the aunt.
'Mom are you giving her?' Said the daughter.
'The face she is making is too priceless to end it here'
Said the other daughter.
'Shut up just give her this' said the aunt .
Annoyed the two girls hands her the money and when she reaches for it, the other girl grabs and pulls her hair slapping her .
'This is the payback for your smart mouth that you used to run' said the girl smirking.
The girl couldn't care less about it , she immediately ran to the vet and gave him the payment.
But the doctor didn't take the money .
'What's the matter? Here I brought the fee! Why aren't you doing anything!' Shouted the girl .
Never in her life had she raised her voice or even reacted to anything.
'You were late' said the doctor.
I was late?.....
(What is he saying......?)
....or your treatment was late?
The doctor looked annoyed,
'look kid this isn't a charity ,nothing in this world comes free'
Said the doctor .

The girl kept quiet and just stared at the limp , dead body of the , once a bright, breathing , alive friend.

.
(Friend...???Its just a dog why am i getting so worked up for it , why did i ran all this way? Why did I bowed ? What am I doing? What is happening to me? I hate this . I hate this feeling......
i hate it . I hate it . I hate it . I hate it.)

The eyes that looked at the limp body
grew cold and dull .....
The words she said later made the doctor shiver ...
