"Thanks to the generosity of Mayor Bourgeois, we're able to have our work experience here at the Grand Paris luxury hotel. Each of you will get hands-on with one of the many jobs here at the hotel," said Miss Bustier.
"You'll be graded on your effort, which will affect whether you pass or not," she added, looking at Alix and Kim with a knowing face. This makes the class giggle. "Now please look to this name sheet and find out which job you will be helping with."
Miss Bustier held up a piece of paper for my classmates and I to see, and set it down on the table.
"Adrikins! We both have counter duty, come with me!" Said Chloe excitedly, dragging Adrien to the front desk while snuggling to him like he was a teddy bear.
I felt my blood boil.
"Yin? Are you listening?"
"Huh?" I asked, whipping my head to the direction of the voice.
"Ah, we have you back. You've spacing out a lot recently," commented Marinette.
"Sorry," I said, giving her and Alya a sheepish smile. It's true, the two voice have been arguing in my head for a while now, clouding my mind whenever I think of Chat or Adrien. It's...concerning.
"As I was saying," said Alya. "I can't find any of our names on this paper!"
"Is there a problem, girls?" Asked Miss Bustier, approaching us.
"There is, Miss Bustier," I said. "Marinette, Alya and I can't find our names on the list." I pointed at the paper on the table.
"Oh." Miss Bustier turned to the mayor. "Do you have Marinette, Alya or Yin on your list, Mister Bourgeois?"
The mayor check the hand written list in his hand. "Hmm, doesn't seem like it..."
"Daddy!" Shouted Chloe while waving a piece of paper in her hand, still clinging onto Adrien.
Ugh-
Realizing that thought I just had, I stared at the space in front of me blankly.
"Ah thank you, sweetie. Yes, Alya Césaire and Marinette Dupain-Cheng! The two of you will be sorting out trash at the main dumpster!" Announced the mayor, while Chloe gave Alya a smug look.
Marinette and Alya glared back. "I bet I know who helped daddy make the assignments," Alya said through gritted teeth.
"Yin Lin will be-"
Mayor Bourgeois was interrupted by a new guest entering the hotel. It was Jagged Stone.
The mayor did not look happy to see him for some reason. Chloe on the other hand, looked delighted.
"Why isn't Mayor Bourgeois happy to see Jagged Stone? Did he do something to him?" I whispered to Marinette. I didn't remember anything like that happening in the show.
"The mayor probably doesn't know Jagged Stone. I'm a fan of his, but if I didn't know him, I would think that he was a crazy person. I can see why the mayor isn't happy to have him here."
I thought.
"Excuse me," said the mayor, walking up to Jagged Stone. "But this is a luxury hotel, not a zoo!"
Chloe quickly pulled him over to the side. They whispered a bit, and when they were done, the mayor was smiling. Chloe probably told him that Jagged Stone is rich, or something.
"Mister Stone!" Said Mayor Bourgeois, his arms opened wide. "Welcome to the Grand Palace Hotel! I am Mayor Bourgeois, owner of this luxury establishment, in fact, the most luxurious in Paris! How may we serve you?"
Jagged Stone looked around the hotel lobby with a bored face. "How'd you think? I didn't just come here to admire your lobby."
The way he spoke was a little rude, but I've always thought it was because how the mayor quickly changed is attitude when he found out Jagged was rich. Must be tiring to be surrounded by people who only like you for money. Wonder if Adrien feels like this too...
A women with magenta hair walked towards Jagged Stone and Mayor Bourgeois. She must be Jagged Stone's assistance, Penny.
"Jagged would like to check into your most luxurious suite," she said.
"And Fang better get a real bathtub and not a tiny waterhole like the one in that hotel across street," added Jagged Stone.
"We have everything you need here, Mrs. Fang!" Said Mayor Bourgeois, bowing to Penny. She thought she was Fang! Penny had also realized this and used her hand to cover her smile.
"Even a state of art fitness center!" Continued the mayor.
Finally, Jagged Stone decided to break the news to him. "Fang e crocodile," he said, pointing towards the reptile by his feet.
Seeing it, the mayor seemed a little shocked and nervous. "U-uh, Mister Stone, we have everything you require for your-uh..." The mayor looked at the crocodile distrustingly. "Fang. Would he uh, enjoy a bubble bath?"
"Crocodiles don't like bubbles," Jagged Stoned said. "It dries their scales out." Really? I specifically remember you giving Fang a bubble bath later on, it's kinda hard to forget a scene where a man is bathing a crocodile.
Suddenly, Marinette started shaking my shoulder.
"What is it?" I asked her.
She pointed to a man that blonde hair with pink streaks at the end. He was holding up a camera behind the counter, taking pictures of Jagged Stone...He's Pixelator!
"AHH!" The man screamed.
I saw Jagged sigh. "Oh, no. Not again."
"Remember me, Mister Stone?" Asked the man. "Vincent Asa! Just one photo to show the world that we're best buds! Come one, please? I'm your biggest fan!"
"I know! You've been to my last thirty-six shows! But we are friends," said Jagged Stone. Poor dude has to get chased by a crazy fan.
Unfortunately, the guy didn't understand the word no, probably why he's here in the first place. He came up next to Jagged Stone and took a picture. Without consent, might I add.
Penny seemed to have had enough of Vincent and snatched away his camera. "Didn't you hear Mister Stone? You haven't got it, have you?" She said while backing the guy out of the hotel lobby. Nice assistant.
"Uh, Jagged Stone. I'll assign one of our butlers to take you to your room, come with me."
The mayor walked Jagged Stone and his crocodile to the elevator.
"I hope you enjoy your stay!" He said, bowing multiple times.
When the elevator doors closed, Mayor Bourgeois took out a napkin to wipe away his sweat.
"Mister Bourgeois," said Miss Bustier. "You haven't told Yin hat job she'll be doing."
"Ah, yes. I've got a job for you already Yin, you'll be a gopher," said Mayor Bourgeois.
"Gopher?" Asked Alya. "What's that?"
"Someone who does whatever the guest of the hotel wants. Basically a slave," I answered.
********
"Mister Stone is going to need a new pair of shades for tonight's gig," said Penny.
Miss Bustier, Mayor Bourgeois and I were in Jagged Stone's suite, along with Penny. Jagged was holding up a loop for Fang to jump through like a circus animal. I was getting informed on my first job as gopher.
"He wants it to be red, white and blue with two large Eiffel Towers on it. Can you get that for him, Yin?"
"Uh- I don't know where I'm going to find-"
I felt the mayor and Miss Bustier nudge me. "I'll do just fine!" I sighed mentally. I'm not Marinette, I'm good at drawing, but that's all. Though I do have a plan forming in my head, I don't know if I could pull it off...
"We'll leave you to it then," said Miss Bustier as she left with the mayor.
After a little more thinking and a few Google searches, I started walking to my local souvenir store.
As I passed by the front desk, I had the unfortune of being seen by Chloe.
"Fired as a gopher already?" She ask smugly.
I ignored her.
"Don't let the door hit you on the way out!"
"Is that really your only insult?" I shouted back. Didn't wait around to hear her answer, though.
A long walk later, I arrived at "Gifts From Paris", a souvenir shop with a lot of interesting things, from what I've seen on their display window.
As I entered, a bell rang to announce my arrival. An old man stood up from behind the counter. "Hello, dear customer! How can I help you?"
"Um, I remember seeing a pair of white sunglasses with Eiffel Towers on them, do you still have it?" I asked.
"Ah, yes," said the man. "You're in luck, this is our last pair!" He took a pair of glasses of a shelf and handed it to me.
"Thank You! How much do they cost?"
After paying for the glasses, I went to a nearby eyewear store.
"Yin, Jagged Stone wanted a pair with red, white and blue. Those glasses aren't going to work!" Said Hedwig, her head poking out of the bottle bag I now carry to hide her.
I grinned down at my kwami. "They will when I'm done with them."
A young woman came from the back of the store and asked me what I needed.
"Could you help me tint the lenses of this pair of sunglasses?"
I left the store with Jagged Stone's new sunglasses and an empty purse. This good grade better be worth it.
