It was as if the universe had a cruel sense of humor. No matter how hard Eliana tried to keep her distance from Beta Leo, he always seemed to find a way to cross her path.

This girl just couldn't catch a break.

For instance, today, she was suddenly summoned without warning.

Eliana knew better than to question orders from her superiors; her survival in the pack depended on obedience. But this particular order was making it impossible for her to stay invisible, and she hated it.

"Are you sure he specifically asked for me?" she asked Rosemary, though she already knew the answer. "Wouldn't any other girl be a better fit for this?"

Rosemary shook her head, her expression firm. "He specifically asked for you by name."

Eliana bit back the groan threatening to escape her lips. Her heart sank at the thought of being so close to him. She had been working so hard to stay under the radar, to avoid any attention—especially from Alpha Xavier.
