"Kai?" Rania tried and Kaia let out a sigh of relief. He looked like he had been haunted by his mind at a lot of possibilities because his next words just got Rani asking herself what the hell had happened to the man.

"You're real," Kaia said as she walked towards his mate, his steps so careful like he was worried that he would hurt her. It was not his intention and he didn't want to ruin the celebration today anyway.

Kaisei looked like he wanted to be sure that this was happening. He had thought of so many possibilities about how this could turn out. He had imagined too many things and frankly, none of that was encouraging. 

He had become so conflicted that there was a moment when he figured he wouldn't show up to the birthday ball.
